Yes it probably was, but also because of my improved tactics of closing the the gate which improved my defence.

When the final analysis is done on the whole gazebos falling from the sky world I think history will say that the whole world was in a state of some sort of mass hysteria and massively overreacted to the whole thing.

And before the brick bats start flying, I know that many metal gates lost their paintwork during this storm and that is of course a tragedy.

However the GAZEBO figures could also have been massively overestimated as it now appears a lot of the METAL GATES diagnosed as having paintwork SCRATCHED in fact SCRATCHED WITH GAZEBOS BUT NOT OF IT as the cause of scratches in many cases was actually something else like a CAT but recorded as GAZEBOS.

GATES provided protection. Do you see how sinister that is? How their web of control ensnares everyone?

If I want a gazebo landing on my head, that’s my choice. Freedom! No to GATES.

With these strong winds I’m very concerned about the caravan on my drive, however yesterday I didn’t even have a caravan!

Living in a place surrounded by woods is lovely most of the time. Today, not so much. Tree down in back garden and **** loads of debris from surrounding fir trees. Not the end of the world. But then, just as we thought we’d got away with it, not one but two fir trees down in the front. One of them is ******* huge - has taken out the fences on both sides of our driveway/garden and then taken out our neighbour’s fence too. Completely blocked in. The main tree you can see in this picture is the smaller one that is down. The big one is below it - you can only see the trunk in this picture as the top of it is out of frame to the right!

Watching the news and it appears there is widespread agreement that it has been windy.

Inevitably a woman has been crushed in her car and killed by a falling tree in Muswell hill. I know some people probably had no choice to go out, but it must be incredible difficult for her family if it wasn’t an essential journey.

Indeed they are. I think you need to check just why those trees fell, ….and fell in your direction :)

That trunk looks to have received a nice clean cut.

It didn't occur to the owner to put the gazebo away before the storm? Like all these flying trampolines, we put ours away every September as the weather through the winter would just ruin it, so why can't people be sensible about these things?

Well it might have been a home made plastic version of a Green House, as it was all pretty mangled up, but whatever it was I'm glad it hit our front gate as otherwise it might have ended up in our living room

That’s shocking, that’s only a few miles from where I live and I don’t remember it being that bad on Friday

They said we were going to have gusts of up to nearly 50 mph but it’s been nothing like that today, just a bit of wind and rain - seems back to business as usual thankfully.

A tree took down a pylon in the Chess Valley cutting off our whole village on Firday morning.

Finally back on this morning thanks to a giant generator, then after a quick switch over, they seem to have repaired our broken pylon and put our village back online.

48 hours with no light, hot water, internet or tv. Just a wind up radio, wood burner and camping gas hob.

Really appreciate being on grid today. [IMG]

Time to resurrect the thread that goes ooo it’s a bit hot/ooo it’s a bit cold.

Apocalyptic weather botherers predicting that the UK record temp of 38.7 could be under threat next weekend and that 40 is within sight.

    Freeow!

29 degrees in Tring today - that's already 5 degrees past "tropical" as far as I'm concerned. 38 would be unbearable.
