Some random bloke on FTRE thread has pronounced based off this we are in a “healthy state” when we go down and the Sarr/Dennis proceeds can all be reinvested. Incredibly FTRE agree with this sentiment.

    The mind boggles.

Try this. I find threadreader much more user friendly anyway, so I'd advise using the below link even if you can access Twitter.

I agree with people saying there's no real short term risk. With parachute payments and money for Sarr and Dennis we can at the very least service our debts in the short term. But a £150m debt with no parachute payments and no players worth over £10m is VERY SCARY!!

If after 2 years in the champo we are selling 10,000 season tickets the debt would be £15,000 per season ticket holder. At some point we would go into administration and unless the stadium had been transferred to a separate company or a trust or had been declared a listed building we'd probably lose the stadium as well.

Gino's wheeler dealing and his ability to recruit cheap or free overseas players who are above championship level but below premier league level is really our only hope of keeping our heads above water in the medium term and even then we are dependent on getting promoted within 2 years of relegation every time.

In my opinion we are in for a much more enjoyable season in 22/23 than under Bassini BUT we are in a way more desperate situation financially than Bassini could ever have achieved. Gino has basically added a 0 to our debt over 10 years.

For these reasons any talk of wanting new owners is misguided. Who would buy a championshop club with £150m debt and an active fanbase smaller than Derby County's stadium capacity? Gino has created a situation where we are a basket case financially and his ability to recruit players who can get promoted out of the championship is our only real hope of ongoing survival. Could do with a new CEO mind.

So our debt is 14 times higher than in 2012!! Its like taking out a mortgage and 9 years later owing 14 times the amount of the original mortgage!! Sounds like the type of mortgage u could only buy from a duplicitous, fraudulent, criminally minded, snake oil selling charlatan.........

It’s funny how those who were so obsessed with those two being the biggest problems at the club have now moved on to different targets given things haven’t got better.

We should try and get Dyche back for next yr in the Champ. He would look like the best chance of us getting straight back and building a team with a bit of back bone

Isn’t that what Hodgson was meant to do this season - give us a backbone? Hasn’t happened.

I don’t mean this personally as I genuinely do the get the throwaway comment about getting Dyche in - but I’m baffled how anyone has been watching us for the past however many years, knows all the quirks of how the club is run etc…and still thinks we should hire Dyche. Totally incompatible for both parties with the mindsets they have. Can’t think of many less suited. We’d be far better with a young, progressive coach and building that way…as there’s no way Gino is changing his ways, and that means Dyche would be (another) horrible misstep.

Martinez or Manning would be far, far better appointments than Dyche.

It wasn’t really meant as a serious suggestion. That said I think the Pozzo’s will be desperate to get back, given the finances. They may think that the approach of bringing in an unknown coach e.g Xisco, worked last time so why change that approach.? That said given we may need to sell most of our assets to balance the books, we may need to rely more on team spirit, than having quality. Very unlikely the Pozzo’s will change their approach to accommodate Dyche, but they may spring a surprise (it wouldn’t be the first time)

Agreed that Martinez is the way to go (don't know about Manning), although playing devil's advocate here, just because Hodgson couldn't give us backbone, it doesn't mean Dyche couldn't, Hodgson looks like he can't be ****ed anymore

I'm sure this will have been asked before but what makes us think that Martinez will want to come to a champ side ?

To be fair, he’s been effusive in his praise for the Pozzo’s recently so he may not see us as ‘any’ Championship side.

He was close to the Las Palmas job recently and they aren’t in La Liga…

He went to Osasuna and Granada who also weren’t in La Liga when he took the roles.

I’d hazard that he may well see many similarities with us as he did in Granada.

Perhaps but unless he gets full control of the playing side of the club including recruitment, much like that Dutch fella wants at United, then nothing will change. A poor start and he’s gone. A fallout with Clevz or CyclingGK - gone.

I’m not confident he’ll get it. Leventhal makes that pretty clear in his article.

Being lazy here as I'm sure I could find out on the internet, what kind of manager is he? Attacking, defensive, 3 or 4 at the back, wingers, formations etc?

  31. LeedsOrn

Nope. He started at Granada in 2019, which was several years after the Pozzos sold Granada.

Seems to prefer a 4-2-3-1. Quite a high press. When at Granada he took them up (finishing second in the Segunda with the best defensive record in the league), and then lead them to 7th and European qualification in their first season and 9th and the Europa League quarter finals the following season before resigning at the end of the season.

He seems to be quite a pragmatic manager (by which I mean adaptive rather than agricultural). I think his style of play is a bit more suited to managing a bottom half PL side than dominating a division but he did one of the best jobs in Europe at Granada. Hopefully it works out.

    The options are:
    1. Two seasons to gain promotion to the Premier league.
    2. Sell our 'stars' for as much as much as possible
    3. Discover 'star' players and sell them on within the next two years
    4. Sell the ground
    5. Sell the club
If none of the above happen, then administration, points deduction seems highly likely.
Given the amount of the debt, the club being made bankrupt is a possibility.
