Does anyone else that was there agree with me! We were awful in the 1st half, much better in the 2nd up to the 94th minute I seriously thought we would be unlucky to only pick up a point, we had numerous chances to get the winner, 95th minute to be honest I haven't been as gutted at the Vic for a long time, we didn't deserve to lose today!
Every time we’re on the break and Dennis holds on to the ball until a runner has run themselves offside, a little bit more of my soul dies.
Even though we've lost 10 home games in a row I'm reassured by the fact that we are an established premier league side unlike the likes of Leeds and Brentford. They may be playing in the PL next season but they aren't 'established' like us. I know this cos Scott Duxbury told me and he never lies.
Felt better today so decided to go and in a weird way felt happy to feel disappoint at the result. For several months I had felt nothing after lackluster results and insipid performances. Today at least for about thirty minutes we saw some fight from the players which is unfortunately too little too late.
One thing no one's mentioned is that the new Pozzo model may be to take out massive loans to line Pozzo pockets while using relegation as an excuse to send players to Udinese to improve their situation.
Points gained from: Brentford(H) Leeds(H) Palace(H) Brighton(H) Norwich(H) Brentford(A) Southampton(H) ...zero. Not one. From a possible 21. Even 2 wins a draw from those 7 very winnable games would have us outside the relegation zone right now. Not saying Xisco would have kept us up, but does anyone genuinely think we'd have matched 0 points from the games above with him?
I was worried about the result today when I saw the pessimism ahead of kick off. And so it happened. Feel bad for Gino and the lads. They shouldn’t be blamed for the fans shortcomings, but we all know they’ll get the blame.
I think it’s clear they want to stay up and sending players to Undinese is just a way of protecting assets when we get relegated, unfortunately they no longer have a clue what they’re doing and don’t know how to keep us in the division.
Giarretta said we didnt need to spend money on defenders. 10 straight home defeats would suggest otherwise. This is the man who thought our 1st choice back 5 in the PL this season would be Bachmann Femenia Troost Sierralta Rose. Jesus wept!!
How much soul have you got left. After his numerous botch jobs you'd have to have a 100 horcruxes to survive that
I think second half we were the better team. Had them rattled. The fact tge winner came from a defender that five minutes before had been rolling around to try and get a free kick, saw we were on the attack. Got up and defended then went down again complaining just sums it all up really
Totally agree. Louza has somehow gained a reputation as our free kick specialist and the second coming of St James of Ward-Prowse by....errr...ummm....err...and by....errr....well because he is clearly...err...incredibly skilled in being able to...err....use his left-foot????
Just back from the game. I decided to go to the Rookery in the corner where the noise is made. Have to say that it was a great effort from the supporters in that section, even when we went one down. My son and I were trying to help out, but I wasn’t sure of all of the words. One guy just behind me, about my age, was the instigator of most of the chants. Where he finds the energy, I do not know. As for the game, we didn’t deserve that. 1st half was poor from us, but we dominated the 2nd. Conceding soft goals from set plays is just a killer. The first one would be poor defending from an u10 team. I saw more effort from some of the players, but our forwards are either disinterested or completely lacking confidence. Good goal from Dennis, but I lost count of the number of teams he was dispossessed after a short dribble. Pedro looks down on himself, but he should hopefully sparkle in the championship. Sarr was just not doing what he can do. Disappointed with the last minute concession, but at least we looked a bit more like we cared today. A great atmosphere until the 95th minute.
I think he is alright, problem is who does he pass forward to , Dennis is shocking, Sarr has no end product , this means that our midfield pretty much have to take the ball up the pitch try and score and then get back to defend. I know he is ancient and lacks some basic football skills but Kucka along with sissoko for instance kept driving us up the pitch going for every ball only for Dennis to get it and lose it. It’s also interesting that virtually nobody on the pitch wants to pass to Dennis (understandable) , the amount of times in the last couple of matches that I have seen JP look at Dennis and the run the other way.
Our team looks like three separate units, the defense, the midfield and our attack. There is no cohesion at all between them.
Yeah Ben and Malcolm provide an excellent post-match analysis podcast, Reflections, which captures the mood of every true Hornet fan tonight. Sing-a-longa "Now is the Hour", 2, 3, 4...
@Keighley I think our sporting day today was very hard to take for us both, due to both defeats being by the slimmest and cruellest of margins! (A reference to Somerset cricket too)
Unfortunately the reliance on auto fill using Google does contribute to a few spelling errors. Should have proof read it before posting.
I remember saying at the time that Sissoko will be decent for 12-18 months at best. The 3 year contract was always idiotic.
I genuinely thought we could get a fee for King until I saw him play v Leeds. Never known a club to regress players so spectacularly.
Obviously I’m biased as my opinion of Xisco was higher than many others here, and it’s a theoretical question anyway so I won’t go down the road of debating it BUT what I would say is this... If you can try to forget the fact it was an inexperienced coach who may well have been found wanting etc, and just concentrate on the act itself rather than the person involved, then firing a coach just 7 matches into the season (when we were averaging a point a game) sent out the first warning sign that this was going to be another crazy season of upheaval and strange decisions. It showed us all that once again stability wasn’t part of our master plan . Just as two years ago, it’s come back to bite us. Before the usual suspects rush in to criticise me to having some regard for a guy who won us promotion, I’m not saying sacking him was necessarily an error. Had we made a good job of replacing him, then obviously it wouldn't have been. What I’m saying is being the first club to fire their manager this season, only seven games in, opened the door to another terrible campaign full of irrational decisions.
I mean, Dennis went down like he had broke his ankle any time he got touched. It's just football nowadays.
