Pedro was not **** in the first half, he was fantastic. Second half be completely faded with the non entity of Keinan Davis up front.

First time I have been since the Coventry defeat but obvious problems with the side. My observations are Pedro and Starr are better suited to the Premier league than the Championship. We do not have a decent centre forward. Asprilla was quite bright when he came on at half time and should play regularly. Hoedt was immense and forms a good partnership with Porteus and next season teams should be built around these two and augmented with some good premier league squad players. Also Bilic has to go a he cannot motivate the players.

Do we really? We have a couple of players who could cut it in the Premier League but the rest are the usual pack of has-beens, hopefuls and never will be's that make up most championship squads.

Bilic is going and he probably knows this.
He is not the Coach we need. He has become a dinosaur.
The players are not good enough. The Play Offs are looking doubtful. A mid to lower table finish is more likely.
A summer rebuild - needed, but unlikely.
Clearout of players - needed, but unlikely.
Cathcart still at the club - shouldn't be, but highly likely.
Promotion will not be the major issue next season. Our massive debts will be the much larger issue and of greater concern.
Next season, we will struggle,so get use to it.
This is the diet of football coming our way for a number of seasons ahead.

Watford manager Slaven Bilic told BBC Radio Three Counties:

"We are disappointed with the result but not exactly with the performance - we kept a clean sheet and they didn't threaten us at all.

"We had desire but it's not enough because at the moment we are simply not creating enough chances.

"They are not conceding many goals but I expected us to create a bit more today."

He needs to get his glasses changed, I thought the performance was poor, and they did threaten us!

Pedro’s clearly a talent but in whatever mess of a setup Bilic has he’s basically got to do everything. Captain, deep lying playmaker who also has to offer himself as an option out wide, lay on chances for the front men and attack the opposition box. He ends up being jack of all trades and master of none.

Think the most disappointing thing about this is hearing somebody who clearly is relatively outspoken come up with such a boring assessment.

He must know his future is in doubt. At least come out and say something a bit more interesting than that ffs.

    Football has become so boring

Yes but not his fault, he also has nobody to “feed” or link up with that well. Some of the stuff he done today was simply sublime, the first touches out of a trouble, a back heel for Morris. His brain is half a second quicker than anyone else in yellow, Sarr a prime example, no footballing brain whatsoever.

Joao needs a system that allows him to be a 8 or 10, ours doesn’t.

Louza was deep, Choudhury was another centre back, just desperately negative, all impacting Pedro but as an individual he’s come on leaps and bounds and I’m actually far more optimistic about his ceiling being Champions League level now.

If he was quick, oh my.

I know our other players should be contributing more in an attacking sense, but JP's been like that throughout basically his whole time here - I don't think you can really pin that on Bilic.

That's Pedro to a tee though. He is master of none. Our fans' insisting he was a 60m player when Newcastle came calling shows our collective delusion.

He's got skills and attitude but he's not particularly useful at any one thing.

Most teams would rather a player with half Pedro's ability but twice his output. Who'd probably cost half the price to boot.

Put him next to Bruno G & Joelinton with Isak and Wilson, you’ll see output.

The whole experience is as bad as I can remember it. It’s like everyone involved in the game has lost their mind and forgotten it’s supposed to be entertainment. Take today - almost as many searches as an airport getting in, our team is misfiring and playing a dull style of football, the opposition (who won’t be a factor at either end of the table) set up to waste time from the start and are clearly content with a point throughout, both teams have players who roll around and cause play to be stopped repeatedly for nothing, the ref is an officious pedant in lecturing school teacher ‘look at me’ mode and then afterwards anodyne media comments and general puffery. It’s crap.

Im not sure a natural goalscorer would make a difference while we continue to create so few chances. We are so pedestrian in possession, there's no width and if we do get it out wide we rarely take a player on or have runners overlapping, we rarely cross the ball and if we do then more often or not there arnt bodies in the box. We get the ball out wide, play is slowed to a crawl before the ball is either played inside or backwards and it isnt one player - they all do it. JP seems to be dropping deeper and deeper and having less of an effect on matches for it. Hamza likewise spends too much time in between the two centrebacks. We dont play through balls or balls into the channels or feet where our strikers can do something - everything is at head height, what chance did Arauja have today against that number 23 with the quality of balls played up to him?

Its all well and good controlling possession but we dont seem to know what to do with it.

Hard to disagree with this and its not just the strikers, its all our attacking players. We just cant seem to get the best out o gthem

My highlight of today was the 30 or so seconds in the 2nd half where a succession of muppets in the SEJ decided to help with Preston’s time wasting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many failed attempts to throw the ball back into the pitch in one go before.

He was omitted becasue he was shown, repeatedly, to be horribly light weight. I mean it was obvious before he was dropped that he was struggling, too easily bullied off the ball and looked like he was loosing confidence culminating in that virtual open goal he missed against Rotherham when instead of shooting he managed to pass it back to their keeper. If his performance today was anything to go by then the step back from the first team has done him some good.

I can't say I agree with that at all. If being a lightweight was reason enough to be dropped then we would barely be able to put a side out with this lot.

He's consistently shown he's the only player we have who can pick a pass. He's unfortunate he's been laying on quality passes all season to incompetent forwards

Oh and in a grumpier addition I’ll throw in the constant memorialising into the mix too. I don’t go to every single home game but it feels like each one I get to has some sort of minute’s applause or silence jammed on the front. Can we not just do football? Do we have to drag the outside world and particularly a fixation with death into it? Already this year we’ve had Vialli, Turkey/Syria and now Motson. Give it a rest.
