Who would have thought it. Some stability. A bit of discipline and all of a sudden we start acting a bit like a team again
Yeah he can **** off, they were the better team but it wasn’t by that much, I would also counter that we looked as likely to score a break away third as they did to equalise.
i would also add that most of their efforts were from fairly long range . For all their posession in the second half they didn’t exactly create a plethora of clear cut chances.
In fact if Bayo hadn’t been rugby tackled it would have been 1-3 … correction it was Bayo so would have still been 1-2 .
Us winning there yesterday was similar to Blackburn beating us in a way earlier in the season, we managed to get away with it, our passing it back and forth is starting to make a bit more sense now as there is more of an end product! looking forward to more away wins to come!
It's hideous. Are you colour blind? Name anything else that is deliberately red and yellow. Noddy's car? McDonalds' logo? Man U Badge. None of these are to be aspired to.
We have had a few bad ones recently, though I really liked the black and yellow stripes we won the Cup semi with.
I was there. Remember it clearly. Sherwood was actually embarrassed he scored and didn’t want to celebrate.
I might be overlooking an obvious one but do we ever score these goals at home? Seems like they all come when we're away...
Longest range goal I remember at home was Richard Johnson (think it was in a pre season friendly, possibly Spurs) but that was a thunderous shot from miles out rather than a lob.
Eventful day that was. We were getting the "Special" up there but high winds had brought the power lines down near Tring. So after a long wait at the Junction the club put on coaches instead. Already late, the driver got to Coventry, we could see the floodlights but he couldnt get off the ring road he was on. As it was nearly 3 oClock, we told him to stop and we'd walk, this turned into a jog for most. We arrived at the ground but at the wrong end and all the Coventry queuing up at their turnstile, saw 30 young Watford, dressed like John McEnroe or Bjorn Borg running towards them and proceeded to run at us doing their best windmill impression. A few hundred chased us around to our end (or side if I remember). I walked in the ground, thinking that was close just as Sherwood kicked the ball, remember it bouncing and Cally going up for a header on the edge of the box with their keeper and it sailing over his head. Things didnt get much better that day as we scored a winner in the very last minute and came out the ground to hundreds of not to pleased Cov waiting for us, we didnt even know where the coach had parked. Police directed us to a coach park and we were getting attacked left right and centre, there was even a couple of them in 3 piece suits with flowers in the button hole joining in. We eventually all got into a front garden and tried to hold the perimeter. When we were getting slapped not a Policeman in sight, all of a sudden 4 or 5 appear and tell us to get out and keep walking. They were politely informed we were going Effing nowhere which managed to get us an escort to a coach park. The joys of 1980's football.
That sounds legit scary. I was too young to attend matches in the 1980's (1990 was my first ever game), but I do recall a fair few scuffles between fans totally unprovoked just due to the final score of the game. It's better now but still not perfect. I'm glad you got out alright, nobody should have to go through that when attending which is essentially, a day of sport and entertainment. Some people take football results very personally and that of course leads to exactly what you described.
Lol, to be fair for a 17 year old back in the day, that was part of the entertainment. It was the 1980's equivalent of TikTok. It was seen or even expected at 90% of grounds and if it had been the otherway round, we'd of done the same to them. I must have annoyed Cov supporters somewhere along the line as 3 of us walked into 50 of them at home first game of the season and they took a liking to the jacket I was wearing and gave me a shoeing whilst removing the said jacket over my head. That same day (it's long story how I remember, but due to who I was drinking with that night when I got back and what he'd been upto that day) Luton had Arsenal at home, Arsenal managed to get there due to the St.Pancras line not having powerlines and had hundreds walking around Luton from Midday, they then tried to take the Oak Road ( one for the older posters) once the game started, police removed them and as they were walking around the ground 100 West Ham turned up and they had a pitched battle with them. The ICF had the same problem as us, train lines down so decided to catch the train to Luton and sought out the Arsenal instead. As I said, wasn't even news back then happened every week.
Ditto Ian Bolton at home to Derby, which we won, I think, 6 - 1 on a Tuesday night. Away from home, Gerry Armstrong at Crystal Palace was a long way out when he scored. We won 0 - 3.
The pack of 3 red, yellow and green things you buy and cook. Each is one colour of course, but the packs of 3 look nice.
Ah! Red, yellow and green hoops. That was the best kit we ever had and no-one had ever heard of Rastas or a potential Jamaican support group. Black shorts, of course.
I may be wrong but doesn’t the Kelme deal expire at the end of this season? Vague recollection it was 4 yr contract.
