    We've got all the depth
Edwards has started well. Just need his bosses to not totally mess things up in the next couple of weeks.

  2. Fair point. Well made!

Hodgson probably saw Preston win the league back in the day.

He has gone from a division 2 club (albeit now in div 1) to a relegated P.L. team with high asperations to get promoted, he is probably on multiple times more salary that at Forest Green and I would expect both himself and at least one other of the coaching staff to see our opposition in action wherever possible before we play them.

Should he remain successful this season he future rewards will be huge, if not with us with other clubs, therefore nothing but 100% effort now is to his personal advantage as well as our beloved WFC!

Apparently as a child Hodgson had posters on his bedroom wall of The Royal Engineers title winning side.

They were etchings back then not posters.

Unbeaten league matches at the start of their reign as manager in the Pozzo era...

    Zola 1
    Sanino 3
    Garcia 0
    McKinley 2 (and out)
    Joka 5
    QSF 3
    Mazarri 1
    Silva 4
    Gracia 2
    QSF (2) 1
    Pearson 0
    Ivic 3
    Xisco 1
    Ranieri 0
    Hodgson 1

    Edwards 5 and counting!

So if we avoid defeat this weekend, he will have gone the longest without a first defeat

We’ll only count the MK Dons result if we don’t lose :D

Joka had a team ready made for him , steeled over 2.5 years of championship football.

Andrew’s has been dealing with all the ups and downs of early season .

Yes me too. Thought he lost several in a row and that win at Fulham pretty much saved him.

Yes. He was unbeaten in five then lost four in a row. (2 wins and 3 draws)

Lost at Birmingham and Ipswich and to Derby and Norwich at home.

Probably lucky to survive that run !

There's no way Edwards lasts the season. He's going to be left with a terrible squad and he'll be the one that pays the price, it's so predictable.

If Sarr remains I still think there's a squad capable of finishing top 6.

I think Edwards undoing might be his formation.

I’m sure he’d gladly play the formation that got him hired in the first place if the club gave him the players.

Oh the irony, Ivic wanted to play a 4-2-3-1 but we left him with zero fit left backs so was forced to play three at the back. Now Edwards is staring down the same choice but in reverse - play the formation you favour (and have practised all pre season) without the players to do it, or throw all that preparation out the window and accept the club have forced you into playing a different way and try to muddle through.

I think he'll go the opposite way from Ivic but result will be the same - sacked when deemed to be underperforming.

It’s becoming clearer by the day that RE is way out of his depth at a club of this size. He doesn’t seem to know what day of the week it is and just generally comes across as confused and disinterested.

Pozzo should move quickly to remove him and get a more experienced head in. Fergie is available.

Duxbury will say they have. They signed Bayo, Gaspar, Manaj, Davis, Choudhury and Hause. All of whom Edwards “wanted.”

I'm pretty sure Watford's scouting system goes no further than Football Manager and Wyscout, but only the bronze membership. Bayo is straight out of the Bayat bucket, Manaj played for Inter Milan and Barcelona so therefore must be good and Gaspar came about after chatting to Villarreal over the Kiko deal. The captain of Villarreal must be good so we'll have him too.

The last three seem to have a bit more intelligence about them. It doesn't surprise me RE had no involvement in the first three signings as they happened quite early on. The last three he wouldn't have a problem with I suspect. But the annoyance probably comes from trusting the recruitment's expertise as to what was required and they've badly let him down. Now he has two unserviceable strikers who he probably has to fit it. Can we carry these two without having to give game time? Can we move them out of the club on loan? Probably not. Can we make use of Gaspar? Maybe, but not as a wingback. If we eradicated the first three signings, we'd be in a decent position. £5m better off with a clear picture of what's needed. Marry in haste, repent in leisure springs to mind. We've signed three players who are going to be of little use and are going to be a burden. We must replace them. I'd certainly move on Manaj. Maybe Bayo and Gaspar could be used from the bench at certain times, but as a promotion chasing club, we need far better through the door.

It is mad, but three at the back isn’t a great formation (it requires all players to do their job and a bit of someone else’s). Without excellent wingbacks he would be best to abandon it now or we’ll score about 30 goals this season

Then he adds a bit more saying he isn’t unhappy about the signings themselves but not being involved.

But then that can be no surprise to him really given the Pozzo history?

You have to wonder if our strikers even practice shooting in training. If we fail to score against QPR with these two then we are going to really begin to worry. WBA scored five last weekend and we can barely must one a game at the moment. It's all very well being the "one nil to the Arsenal" of the Championship, but then we are relying on a defence which has only conceded two goals down a goal keeper in an excellent vain of form. Our backups are not good enough for this level and that is purely down to poor Windows for the past couple of seasons and the higher management wasting money on duds and paying managers' off three times a season.

I cannot see us going up this season and that's not just because of last night's debacle - Edwards is being shafted by the board and not getting the players he needs for his system. He will probably walk before Xmas if nothing changes.

Well, he says he doesn't know what Edwards thinks about the signings. I don't believe for one second that Edwards wanted Bayo or Manaj and is happy with what they've done so far. I imagine he's happy with Hause, Choudhury and Davis though, even if he wasn't consulted about two of them.

Didn't he sign a two year deal? I doubt he'd throw away 18 months worth of pay by resigning. Probably better to be sacked, take the money and then blame the club for not supporting him sufficiently.

The idea that Edwards had any interest or say in the signings of Bayo, Manaj, Gaspar etc. is laughable

The only people who would be surprised by this are the same people who will just ignore it or call it a ‘conspiracy’ anyway
