It's hilarious that we're so happy to pay out millions in contract terminations for all the managers we sack, but are mostly dead against actually identifying the right man and paying the compensation to another club to bring him here, instead taking punts on whoever's on the out of work list, it inevitably going terribly, sacking them, paying them off, rinse and repeat.

 

The problem now it’s a bit like our long ball reputation from the eighties, we’ll never shift it now whatever we do, rightly or wrongly. Ranieri is case in point, the entire media were calling for us to sack him but as soon as we do we’re a joke etc. The genie is a long way out of the bottle now, it’s just something that will go with the territory of supporting us.

It’s insanity, 1 out of 15 pozzo managers has been approached by another club. The so called two year model of either failing or moving to a bigger club doesn’t work, because we only employ out of work coaches who all fail and need paying off. What we’ve spent paying coaches off we could’ve afforded any coach in the world.

To be honest I don't really care about it but I have literally just saw a Coventry City fans on social media saying what a disgrace our owners are and that Watford is everything that is wrong with football. Like they haven't been down to league two and been homeless for the last how many year and still have to rent the ground of a rugby club.

I think when even the FTRE boys and Leventhal himself are aware of the meme and make open and repeated references to it at times of managerial crisis here on their pod, the club must realise the optics of the corner flag and, as such, twigged that if they want to be being seen as particularly respectful to Claudio that it would be better to give it a miss this time round.

 

Some of you might remember when Xisco was sacked I posted with my recent away record:
Newcastle away - Javi sacked afterwards.
Southampton away - QSF sacked afterwards.
Leeds away - Xisco sacked afterwards.

The board statement mentions talented squad. The fact that the board cannot see that the players are just not good enough means they come across as completely blind to the problem. This problem will continue.
Ranieri is a nice guy, but one job too many.

We've had a lot of managers in the last few years, it's surprising the media hasn't picked up on this yet.

 

Trust me, I wouldn’t. I’ve met the man on a number of occasions. Money is nice but if you aren’t destitute or in desperate need of cash, morals are just as nice.

 

I bemoan them as much as anyone - but what did you expect them to say?

It used to be madness. These days I've just got used to it.

A totally disastrous appointment, one of the worst we’ve made.

It beggars belief that we jettisoned Xisco for this past his sell by-date idiot.

As with QSF last time out, it seems we’ve blown our chances of survival now whoever comes in.

A bit harsh but I agree with your sentiment. Should never have been appointed in the first place. Hiring family friends is always a no, no. He should certainly have gone after the West Ham debacle.

I was pretty much a lone voice in saying he should go, and I'm surprised so many fans bought into his charming bedside manner. He was hopeless. 11 defeats in 14 games.....seriously. It's crazy so very few were calling for him to go before now.

Xisco took us up. Got us 7 points from 8 matches. Took us to 14th. Got everybody pulling together. A feel good factor around the club.

Yes yes of course he had his limitations and may well have been severely found out, but we ditched him early and replaced him with an unmitigated disaster. 7 points from 14 matches. A worse record than the man he replaced (although I accept he probably had the tougher set of fixtures).

The minute we lost 0-5 to Liverpool, you could see we’d messed up royally.
