Grealish probably isn’t going to be popular with his Villa mates .

And from what I understand applauded on Sky for it too.

Mind you if one of the pundits was Micah Richards then probably no surprise there.

To quote Fred Perry the overriding sentiment was " very clevah"

There was someone in the earlier match, who went down as if shot, ref waved play on and he was up as if he'd had an ICD fitted.

    Ridiculous skullduggery.

Everton have as much pace as an asthmatic ant carrying an especially heavy bag of shopping up Mount Snowden.

Although Liverpool are quite nippy it's fair to say.

So Salah does remember how to score then? Looks like the "Dyche Lift off" lasted one game. But to be fair, them beating Arsenal and Liverpool in a row is about as difficult as us winning at the Etihad.

Everton were doing till they got caught on the break and Pickford went walk about as he is prone to doing.

Big game v Leeds for them.

Good night for Liverpool on and off the pitch.

3 points in the derby and UEFA have admitted they were at fault for the crowd issues at the Champions league final last season.

It’s interesting to see such varied opinions on it.

Guess that is the issue with subjective calls - can be debated for ever .

What's the keeper supposed to do when he's had the ball touched past him? Disappear into thin air?

    Also Haaland is a w**k*r.

Not an argument that holds up if an outfield player has the ball touched past him and then clatters into the opponent. No different if it's a keeper. If they come rushing off the line, arms spread, and bodycheck the attacker, it's going to be a foul.

Keepers are allowed to use their hands. So there's one thing which instantly means you can't treat a GK the same as an outfield player. It's a natural position (arms spread as you refer) for the GK. Whereas it's a bizarre attempt if you are a midfielder and would be more of a foul.

Goalkeepers may be able to touch the ball with their hands but they are not allowed to use their arms / hands to impede opponents any more than outfield players are. If a goalkeeper catches an opponent with his hands or arms it's a foul, and if it happens in the box it's a penalty.

Nor can you have degrees of foul. It's either a foul or it's not.

I can see why Man City would feel a bit hard done by – the ball and the player were running into touch – but Ederson bodychecked the Arsenal forward and it was a clear foul.

Loads of fouls occur when someone is in a natural position. If a player aims a kick but misses the ball and catches the man, it's a foul. That's a natural move, natural position, whatever, but it's still a foul.

Really not sure how the ref, with a knowledge of the laws of the game, could have given any other decision.

BBC getting excited over how the title race is now blown open by Citeh’s win. The reality is that an arsenal win would have kept the title race open for longer. Their young side were never going to keep up the level of performance across the whole season. I’d be amazed if Citeh don’t win it now, MU probably finishing second.

Not that’s not true, is it? It’s not the same as whether the ball is over the line or not. Every foul is subject to a judgement call by the ref and/or VAR. Of course some are obvious but many are open to interpretation. In the past the ref just had to judge intent, then we had the era when certain contacts were deemed automatic fouls (“you can’t tackle any more”) and now we have the “he was touched so he’s entitled to go down” brigade.

Its clearly so refreshing for the game to see a team with over 100 charges of breaching financial regulations hanging over them, back in pole position for their 5th title in 6 seasons.

    I agree about the penalty.

    Where does the keeper go?

    Dig a tunnel?!

Pity we didn't have this in the '84 Cup Final!

I quite like Haaland but then I like Martin Clunes!

There is subjectivity regarding whether or not something is a foul. But the decision is either 'foul' or 'no foul'. There's no provision for degrees of foul.

Man U next to get billionaire owners potentially from Qatar and no doubt their fans will be celebrating outside Old Trafford if the take over happens.

More sportswashing. It's incredible the lengths some of their fans are going to now to justify the takeover after having called those on the opposite side of Manchester a petrodollar team funded by HR abusers. The whole idea of the sport being competitive in this country is a joke. You either need petrodollars or a very rich backer to get anywhere.

Even the likes of the fairy tale clubs such as Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth are not owned by the local furniture store magnate.

I see Lee Mason has been sacked for his error in the Arsenal v Brentford game and I guess fairly so as it's not his first error plus was a very basic one.

Is the guy who drew the wrong lines in the Palace v Brighton game going to be sacked too though?

Or has Mason gone because the decision was against one of the big boys and he isn't that young anyway so easier to get rid.

The top 6-8 are doing fine. Nothing else matters. Below that it’s a different sport.
I wish the super league had happened, crashed and burned, and the sides had been blocked from rejoining the domestic leagues.

Mason was always poor, but he wasn’t the worst of them. When you screw up against the league leaders in a close title race it has major consequences.

Had he done that in say a Palace v Fulham match, no fuss would have been made.

    Yes agree .

Probably was a culmination of mistakes.

Infact the same did happen in the Palace game - no one has been sacked .

Probably because Captain Black of the Mysterons was droning on and on like a nun's knickers and De Zerbi,as far as I'm aware hasn't.

Although even if he had it wouldn't garner the same attention as the Arse etc etc.
