Pre-season

Watching the paid stream. Reasonable start some nice passing triangles and full backs getting forward plenty. Intelligent pressing too. Granted saints won't be sharp yet but looking OK so far

 

Yeah look pretty good. Could do with Louza in the midfield, someone who can dictate the play. Dennis putting in a real shift.

 

Sema looks painfully slow as ever. Sierralta looking confident and dominant at the back. Dennis working hard. Not sure Manaj has actually touched the ball.

 

I know @RS2 mentions Sierralta's ability on the ball, but it does appear he's been instructed to keep it simple.

Cathcart, on the other hand, is still chipping long balls to absolutely no one. Kabasele the same.

 

Kamara on the right hand side is going to be completely and utterly wasted. Hasn't got a right foot at all.

We absolutely must bring in a proper, first choice right wing back and get him back over on the left.

Play people in their positions ffs.

I bet RE wants to but has been stitched up with transfers

 

Just back to this, at this level, I'd much rather give Ngakia something of a chance and get the best out of Kamara at the same time, if that's what it came down to.

Sema can **** off.

 

JP looks like he's gained a yard of pace and put on more muscle over the summer.

 

I still just don't quite understand what he is, though. Just hard to ever see him scoring many goals.

 

Pretty sure Manaj has given away more fouls than he's had touches of the ball.

 

Always felt the club should have earmarked him as the left sided attacker in a front 3. Been shifted about so much.

 

We seem more keen to cross the ball in rather than our old style of trying to run it into the back of the net

 

It's got to be that or a "number 10". I just don't ever see him being a proper, out and out striker.

 

Playing some nice stuff.

 

Pedro needs to sharpen up.

The u21s are playing West Brom today. Better overall if they get a minimum 60 minutes than watching the 1st team play.

 

First half positives;

Shape looks good
Players look committed
Sierralta looks good
Sema looks a reasonable back up wing back
Kayembe has some good moments
Dennis working harder than anyone

Not so great;

Kamara wasted at RWB - this needs to be an emergency solution only.
TDB / Kayembe - too weak as a pair for CM - I do worry about 2 in CM and 3 up top with the standard of CM’s we have. Louza can help here though.
Manaj - hoping it’s the team not getting him the service he needs more than his performance

But my main concern is Pedro right now. I love watching him play and he comes across like he really cares, but I’m with Nath on this one, I’m really starting to worry he’s not really got a position and won’t fulfil that obvious talent he has. Main issue as a striker is his actual shooting ability.

 

Asprilla on at HT

 

Ain’t we got that player from Valencia coming in for RWB? And could Pedro play the Abdi role?

 

Kabasele is such a bad footballer. Even his choice of pass is terrible let alone the execution.

 

Asprilla looks the real deal. So much stronger than he looks.

 

Seems a bit hit and hopeish?

 

He looks great. Only a little guy but he's got that South American aggression.

 

I can't watch Ken Sema constantly run the ball out of play this season.

 

Barely created a single chance.

 

If he continues this form into the season, our midfield suddenly looks a lot stronger. Would still like 1 or 2 more in though

 

Have to say, it’s very interesting that Dennis gets 74 minutes whilst Bayo gets 16..

Is Edwards picking the strongest available team because he wants to win or has someone told them Dennis may be here till the end of August at least.
