Holloway: 'I didn't think the Fulham supporters were very respectful singing ''Can we play you every week'' ' :happy1:
I can't stand Holloway but really have nothing against Palace. Palace have been there before and know the pitfalls of overspending which is pretty much what the owner said beforehand. They have bought players within a budget that won't affect the club too badly should they go down and will allow them to be very strong in the Championship. Cardiff on the other hand have broken their transfer record 3 times in the summer and have spent a lot of money. Even with parachute money they will find it difficult should they go down. The big difference is the owners. Cardiff's owner knows diddly squat about football hence what he's done to the badge and the shirt colours. If they go down and he's had enough then they will up a poo creek. The Palace owner is a Palace fan, along with the rest of the board, and seems so far to have his head screwed on by not just throwing money around. I believe they bought the training ground this week which might not seem much but is a step in the right direction. If they both went down I know who I think will be better off. I hope Palace go down because of Holloway and the fact I have them in an accumalator but mostly Holloway. Where is that wonderful West Country humour now? He even had a pop at Fulham fans for singing, can we play you every week!
And to think their next game is Arsenal!! To me, it's just indicative of what usually happens when you decide the final promotion place through a cup competition rather than league placings. Palace went into the play offs on no run of form at all, but managed to re-group and win the knock out ties, thanks it must be said (writing this through gritted teeth!) to Holloway's good tactical awareness etc. You play 46 matches over a league format, then the last 3 over a cup format..and often a side will get promoted who really aren't strong enough. Would we have done much better? Who knows..I imagine we'd have recruited a higher class of talent over the summer..I guess Fabbrini, Faraoni and Angella would have come, not so sure we'd have been signing the likes of Iriney, Belkalem etc had we got promoted. Anyway, it's all academic..a lot of people at the time wrote that they were more than happy having another bash at the Championship, while watching Palace (and we thought at the time Hull too) struggle week in week out. Watching Palace last night though did make me feel I wish we had gone up because I'm sure we'd have performed better than them. They've almost wasted a promotion place with their feebleness. Don't care much for the man but it would be a traversty if they did sack Holloway after what he's done for them.
I agree, good post. We can laugh at palace, but if they stay within their financial restraints, they'll come down in a financial state that will allow them to benefit from the parachute payments. A total of £120m isn't to be sneered at.
Enjoying reading their forum They're a team who have been and will be in the prem for a lot longer than you idiots!
Despite their high expectations for the season Palace fans really have ended up with egg (and chips) on their faces.
I loved the interview Hollowhead gave after this match. He was blaming the first two Fulham goals as being too good. He asked one of the hacks if he had seen a better goal this season, and he replied..."yes, the Arsenal team goal on Saturday"........Hollowhead then spluttered something like "yes that was excellent but it wasn't a shot like that was it?" He's clearly under pressure, and I just knew it was only a matter of time. I really like to see people like him fail, as his blueprint to success is to derail all those around him. I just hate the way he interferes in the affairs of other clubs to try and improve his own situation. The man has no class. I predicted Palace would be the worst team ever to play in the Premier League. They were lucky to have played a bad Sunderland team, but to lose 4-1 to Fulham.....bloody FULHAM!!.....just shows how bad they really are. That will be a very damaging result and I expect this will be a regular thing for them. So the cockiness has been eroded already. They can have their £120m, but as a fan none will be happy watching their side lose 4-1 at home every week, no matter how much money they make. I don't think they will even reach double figures in points this season.
I love Fulham. I love them even more after hammering palace. If Leicester went bust tomorrow I would support Fulham and probably prefer it.

am I the only one who thinks that vydras goal against Leicester last year is better than kasami's goal?
I do. He had it over his shoulder on the weaker foot and did it first time. Kasami had time to take a touch, on is right foot and then shoot.
Last night basically their fans were saying they got promoted thanks to Zaha and one even said because we bottled it at Wembley. Holloway actually only about 6 games last season... They've got too many average players and clearly have no idea what their best team is. Mind you TBF no-one could do much about Fulham's first 2!
New Conference announced at 5:30pm today. Hollowhead will be there apparently. I really hope they fire him, Alan Sugar style, live on national TV. That would be great.
Palace don't have a Premier-League class team. Realistically, who would actually be a good manager for them?
Managers who lead not ready clubs to the premier league always will get fired in the premier league...it's is own fault
Even in my wildest imagination, I didn't think it would happen this early. Hilarious! Palace weren't remotely good in the playoffs. They beat a Brighton team that froze in the Amex, and a Watford team that didn't show up at Wembley. Even then, it took them 120 minutes and a penalty to score a goal against a team with a somewhat porous defense. The man who got Palace promoted was Freedman, not Holloway. Holloway almost messed it up completely during the season, and then got the playoff victories handed to him on a plate. I have no idea why some people seem to think he is a tactical mastermind, the man is clueless.
Think you are right. The reports all say he is 'set to leave'. Sackings are usually with immediate effect.
I agree that he got lucky at Palace by getting them promoted. Dougie Freeman did the hard work. They beat Brighton because on the day Zaha played a blinder at the Amex and we put in one of our poorest matches of the season in the final. The stars lined up for him in the playoffs basically. His managerial record in the league for Palace is Pld 43 W 12 D 13 L 18 Pts 49 and I think this clearly shows how good the man is.
I am going to apply for the job. Citing my Football Manager achievements as my reasons for why I am right for the job. I intend to attach screenshots of certain player's goalscoring records and development to show what I can bring out in a player, and maybe of the club's finances too. I don't see anyone else willing to take that job on, so maybe i'll be their best candidate... (It could only end well... Mariappa would be promoted to captain).
