We kept the #9 shirt open and the fella’s wearing 11 in most of the highlights! There must be a mix up
Sorry, which video are people talking about? From this one he looks like a big fella that makes good runs, and can finish with both feet and from different areas. I thought we had another Acuna situation brewing!
After watching this video I’m particularly worried about the quality of league he’s coming from. The play in the goal around 1:11 in is worse than most Sunday league
Some of the footage is from the Swedish league and some from his prior club in the Danish second tier. I think that bit is from Denmark.
I agree with all that, but it's only a sensible approach if the players brought in instead also turn out to be good. We'll find out in the not too distant future I suppose.
It was from a game against Vendsyssel FF. On the pitch for them that day was former Watford 'wonderkid' Panos Armenakas...
I'm sure he was sanctioned by Manga but I'll be very surprised if Bayat wasn't involved in that deal given his links to Gent.
Not sure if this is his goal in the video here or an OG? https://twitter.com/VoicesOfTheVic/status/1694424097172639788
Pretty underwhelming numbers on the surface. The fact he's been kicking around the Danish 2nd and 3rd tiers for most of his career also doesn't really fill me with promise. But he could be a late bloomer and could end up be exceptional scouting by Manga and co, i've not watched any videos but my initial view is one of scepticism.
Nearly Ken Sema levels. Everything about this transfer seems odd looking in from the outside. At least it’s not lining Bayat’s pockets.
I messaged a couple of Scandinavian football aficionados on Twitter and they had very good things to say about him. “He’s great, but not someone who carries a team. Rather someone who elevates the quality of an already great collective. He’s a athletic attacker of big size who’s great in the box, a good target man and can make runs in behind. Also finds shots at a good rate. I like him.” “It’s definitely a big step, played in the danish third tier quite recently too. But he’s good! Will be exciting.”
Something else to add which hasn't been mentioned yet - this guy wouldn't normally qualify for a work permit. So we'll be taking advantage of the new rule which was recently brought in and signing him as one of the two slots we'll have been allocated this summer for players who don't usually qualify, It also suggests that the Pozzos will have seen the new rule as being beneficial, and so they might be keeping an eye on gaining at least one other spot for such a signing next season (which would require us playing an average of 2.2 out of 11 English qualifying players across the season).
I was moderately whelmed about this signing. Maybe it was lack of any business of note and a hope of a return to more innocent days of signing nobodies who turned out decent. I’m shocked that it’s those who are usually positive that have kicked my whelm back underneath. Stomped even.
Shame we don't have a great collective to elevate. All well and good being able to play in others but none of our wingers are prolific. Still need a striker who can hit the back of the net reliably.
Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal· 1m News: #WatfordFC aim to conclude deal for Mileta Rajovic in next 24-48hrs with Swedish club Kalmar. If finalised 24yo, 6’4” striker expected to be permanent signing on long term contract. Watford hoping to conclude deal to sign striker Rajovic from Kalmar - The Athletic
I’m actually quite excited about this signing….giving me heidar vibes. I have always wanted us to sign another scandi striker.
that’s true, he was never the most gifted player but he put himself about and was an absolute workhorse. one of my childhood heroes.
According to that article from Leventhal: "The 24-year-old has been earmarked as the number one target in the club’s search for a new striker" O rly?! He was our number one target all along, not Kaba or Moore, for example?
