Crashingly obvious but you you need to be sure you are totally up to speed on Final Cut Pro X.

Been trained on the older version Final Cut Pro 7 for three years at Uni and have spent the past few months adjusting to FCPX and releasing videos from it (shameless plug check out some of my work, hire me for your events, weddings other events etc, here's when I worked at a festival with Snoop Dogg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3spjwZSTYnU)

competency questioning is all about asking you to explain how you reacted in real life situations

Give an example of where you thought your line manager wasn't doing something correctly and what you did to address it.....
Give an example of how you have had to help a colleague at work and how you went about helping them

Be honest and don't try to over complicate things
Always try to use the line manager and seeked advice
Remember to say that you would ask someone to help you if you weren't comfortable with a situation or unsure of how to complete a task

Any advice on technical assessments would be appreciated! Got first interview on Wednesday at Kings Cross (if I decide to go). It's a technical interview and I'm not sure I'm fully sure what to expect.

Competency based questions are often nothing more than a basic IQ test. You invariably don't need to study for them. Just make sure you get a good night's rest and a sensible meal before going in, so your brain is ready.

Didn't eat before the last one as I couldn't stomach it. May have to get something to eat at the nearby cafe before this one!

Does this really help people? If I walked in and the interviewer was rubbing his nipples I wouldn't be able to talk to him about my experience with MATLAB easily.

Interview was 10th September, said I'd hear back within a week. Looking like I missed out on the job after making it down to the final two. Thanks for everybody's help though!

Hold in there. If you haven't heard by 10am today don't be afraid to call them. Ask for the person who interviewed you and if they are not available ask for a call back ... If he/she doesn't call then consider yourself lucky not to have joined them.

I wouldn't say that at all mate, I just had a very similar situation and was told i'd hear back by the Friday, even sent them an Email on the Tuesday after asking for feedback why I hadn't got it; Wednesday they apologised for the delay and offered me the job. Equally, they wouldn't just not email you, you'd hear a response either way.

Absolutely. If you're definitely down to the final 2 they should contact you. Give it a day or two after the deadline and get back in contact, thanks them for the interview and ask them if they've any feedback.

If you've been for a 2nd interview one of the questions to ask is how many people left to see and when will I hear. If it's lots and a while then don't bother if its a few and a week or so then a couple of days after the deadline it's good policy to thank them and ask for some feedback. You may be lucky, they may be still deciding and it tips the decision in your favour. The worst that can happen is it annoys them they ignore it any you haven't or didn't get the job. In that case not a company to work for anyway. It;s fine to do it by email and probably the best route if you've got an HR contact. best to direct it to the HR contact rather than the boss.

My experience is that a decent company would tell the definite unsuccessful candidates pretty quickly. I wouldn't give up yet.

It may be that you are third, and they are checking to see if the first two are still interested, before telling you. But third is OK if one of them says they are going elsewhere.

But I echo what others have said. Even if you have lost out, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by graciously writing to them, saying that you enjoyed the experience, liked the company and very disappointed to miss out, but that you would appreciate being informed if any other roles come up.

Got an interview myself for a HEO role in the Civil Service on Monday - Think I did about 15 interviews last year and I used to literally sweat buckets through nerves but after a while you do become immune to it.

There's a lot of HR processes involved before any formals offers can usually be made so it's not necessarily a bad sign.

It's helps if you're not thumbing through the pictures during the interview.

Still heard nothing and sent them an e-mail yesterday asking if they could update me on the situation and still no response.

Could be miraculous and still get the job but it's looking like I missed out on it.

Poor form from the company not to give you feedback after 2 weeks. It's either downright rude poor practice, or they have offered the other guy the job and he's dithering so they are trying to keep you warm as a back up option (it's happened to me before so don't feel bad about it).

If the company had offered it to the other person, I would be concerned if they were dithering about it. I would expect an answer back within a few working days (unless that other person stated during the interview that they would be away on holiday just after the interview) else retract the offer. I would say it is bad manners from the company to not even inform you, despite you sending an email a couple of days ago.

It's fair enough if someone is at final interview stage with several companies to allow them to complete the process and allow them to make an informed choice. Depends how much they like the candidate. #stambouli

How long do I give it until I send an e-mail or give them a phone call? Don't want to annoy them as it really would be a great company to work for.

I think the time is now. They can't possibly think you are out of order to call given that they have left you hanging for 2 weeks. I'd call them to be honest - emails they can just ignore.

One thing though - this doesn't show them in a good light at all, so I'd be surprised if they are as great to work for as you think.

If you haven't already, I'd email them pretty soon if I were you. Like today.

  33. Agree, particularly if down to last two candidates, surprised they didn't contact you pretty much on the same day as the final interview. Pretty poor from them, if they start out like, before even starting probably best not to work for.

Just call the person who interviewed you today and ask. You've given them plenty of time.

Emails can easily be ignored. I'd call.

It was mistake not to call last week.

If they said within 7 days you should have been on to them on the 8th, your competition probably was ... Be decisive next time.
