You could hear a pin drop if they heard how many Nigerians, Indians, Pakistanis, Poles, and other groups they target died fighting alongside the allies in WW2... in some ways it isn't even their fault they don't know as they are never given a passing mention whenever WW2 is covered anywhere.

It would be 'interesting' to see how a mob of them would fare if faced with a platoon of Gurkhas, who, no doubt, would be subjected to the totally inaccurate taunt of 'Pak1'.

We have already seen hundreds of them don't even fare well against a handful of police officers...

I remember a fairly good exhibition at IWM Duxford a few years ago in the airborne section which was all about Sosabowski's Free Polish Division at Market Garden - it's a shame that stories like that aren't celebrated along with all the other sacrifices and struggles of everyone in all places of the earth to overthrow an abhorrent order which is now bizarrely being idolised again. Those who don't learn from history...

I consider myself fortunate that my history teacher actually covered this in school, because like you say, it seems roundly ignored in WW2 coverage.

From the top of a BBC article
Biden and Xi are not exactly meeting to discuss their foreign policy Greggs, are they? When the media report on UK policy they don't set the scene for the rest of the article with "Meeting in the glistening halls of the St Regis Chicago, the other side of the world from the dystopian wasteland these Harrow and Eton-educated ministers are about to station thousands of working class UK citizens in the line of fire".

Can sort of see what you're getting at but on the other hand you have to remember the intended audience for that article is going to be British people. An uninformed chunk of whom will assume they're meeting in tents in the desert having arrived by camel or some such stereotype.

Plus I'm sure I've seen articles describing the opulence of, say, the locations for EU meetings before.

I am actually not against it in theory - if anything I'd like the latter statement on every article about politicians in every country to provide much-needed context. It would be nice to hear where Suella Braverman ate for lunch the day she called homelessness a lifestyle choice, for example.

It's because they aren't foolish - everyone knows they are looking for excuses to hate anyone and who they target shifts with time. At one point it was the Irish.

Israeli lawmaker tells hostages families they 'don't have mandate on pain'

    The families of some
240 hostages taken into Gaza on October 7 "do not have a mandate on the pain," coalition MK Almog Cohen (Otzma Yehudit) charged at the families during a Knesset debate on enacting the death penalty to Palestinian terrorists on Monday.

During the raucous hearing, Cohen attacked the hostages' families after being confronted by one father who accused the lawmakers of debating the bill only because they "want to kill Arabs... you have killed enough.

"Stop talking about killing Arabs, start talking about saving Jews!" he said

There are too many people talking about it for it not to be true. Presume children and women swapped on both sides, some agreement to allow aid into Gaza but can’t imagine Israel would agree to a ceasefire without their objective being reached

on another note, UNWRA, Red Cross, Amnesty et al will have blood on their hands if/when proof is shown that the hospitals are being used as munition dumps, keep hostages, Hamas HQ etc. Israel will have blood on its hands if it’s wrong

Agree with the first bit, but don’t know about the second. It’s an area run by terrorists. You are compromised as soon as you enter the territory.

The nature of aid is that it goes towards many places that have very reprehensible people in charge. Those working in and around the hospital may have been aware of Kalashnikov toting, khaki clad figures going in and out. Even rooms or areas that were forbidden to all but Hamas. That would be usual in Gaza where Hamas are the only gang in town and run it like a fiefdom, taxing everything in sight for their own benefit.

But unless aid agencies were actively lying (and let’s be clear dishonesty is about the reasonable understanding of the person at that time) then they are getting on with their roles. Is that the claim?

Hope for some hostages at least.

I agree it depends on the nature of the evidence - there are over 20,000 employees at the BBC and how many of those 'knew of' Jimmy Saville at all and out of those how many knew by more than rumour? That wouldn't be to say nobody knew but in principle a whole operation could run seamlessly with less than a handful of people.

the fact that all of those aid charities have been hugely critical of Israel for a number of years. Amnesty is ambivalent in their critique of Israel. But never a mention of Hamas. If they knew that civilians were put at risk by Hamas tactics then this should have been called out years ago

as a side note, the Red Cross has not pushed to visit the health of the hostages

Almost as not surprising as Robinson getting arrested. The Griftvy Train is nothing if not predictable.

some might say that police have turned a blind eye at hate preachers at some of the PP marches, much of which has been shared on social media, so why pick and choose what they allow?

I hasten to say I’m not one of them. In my book anybody that spreads hate should be locked up

Can’t see anyone suggesting hate preachers shouldn’t be arrested when they are, but agree with you that they should be.

In a truly liberal society bellends like Robinson should not be arrested for turning up at a demo .
Unfortunately he holds the wrong opinions and those who support free speech are labelled as Nazis
and those who want to shut down opinions they don't agree with are bastions of today's new tolerant liberal left .
If this view makes me a Nazi . Then I'm a Nazi.
FTR Robinson is a ******* but if he can gain dangerous support then this is because of clown like nonsense from the main political parties

I'm white but my views make me a "far right/alt right " nut case . I used to be called a liberal.
My best mate is black and he is now an "uncle Tom" . He also used to have liberal views .
When did this nonsense change ?
