Gaza/Israel

Sure or you can learn from people who have studied, lived or visited the region as per this thread.

 

The whole idea of Israel 'massacring'/'ethnic cleansing' Gaza is ridiculous. They launched over 1500 airstrikes and killed around 150.

I also don't get how it's a 'siege' when Gaza has a border with Egypt, who slated off Israel during the fighting. Or maybe Egypt doesn't have it open full time because they know that the Sinai is already full of terrorists who have come from there.

Apparently 800 people were killed in Syria at the same time as the Israel/Gaza conflict. Why isn't there a thread on this/protests in London? Because slating Israel is, and has been, much more 'fashionable' to do so. Big war happening in the Congo, full of ethnic violence and death. Anything? No

The above comments instantly compare Israel with the Holocaust (because Israel is predominantly Jewish), yet attacking Israel on account of that isn't anti-Semitic?

 

Apart from the fact that a ground invasion would create far better results if ethnic cleansing, away from the fact that Israel invests a huge amount of money into West Bank to improve infrastructure and apart from the fact that Israel called off many air strikes as civilian casualties could be too high...there are some people who want a greater understanding of the situation and some people who believe they fully understand the situation based on reading a paragraph in the Guardian!!!

 

But it's still only half the story.

I think both sides of the story have been argued very well, actually. Read through Potguy's posts in particular, it looks like you skipped over them!

 

I'm lazy. There was a very good cartoon in the Independent about it with the regular people of Gaza caught between Hamas and the Israeli army.
