Yep won't be easy! Worst thing about it is the loans that have already left - most only have about 20% of their wages being paid by the loan clubs...

 

Not even had my first pre-season friendly against Wimbledon yet, and takeover rumours have started with Sky Sports along with the general information screen saying 'in the process of a board takeover'. What does Football Manager know (maybe Miles?!) that we don't....

 

Been informed that I'm supposed to be in the game but there's a bug that's stopping a chunk of non club attached staff pulling through into the game

 

I wondered if you might be in the game @reids when I was signing my Performance and Recruitment Analysis staff...just doubled checked again and yep, you're not there. Data editor isn't out yet so I can't even check the database.

 

I'll apparently definitely be in the database when the games released in a couple of weeks and can be assigned to a team that way (it even has Watford as my preferred team!) but not sure whether i'll be searchable on release just yet!

 

Just so you know, I'm totes going to hire you and then blame you when we don't score from any set pieces.

Well I won the league at Watford in the beta on the last day of the season by beating Swansea 4-0 with Deeney bagging a hat trick to take him to 30 goals for the season, ironically it was Bournemouth we pipped to the title. We ended up on 101 points and Bournemouth on 96. Brentford and Forest are probably gutted to end up in 3rd and 4th with 93 and 90 points respectively.

I would probably take this in real life....

 

so far every league result ive had has been the same as real life. however in the league cup i just knocked liverpool out on penalties.

My club captain (regen) has come out as gay! Honestly stopped me in my tracks and made me well up a little bit, I’ve never seen this before it must be new to FM21.

 

With all my games I always look to buld on youth and hopefully have a crop of talent to come through and take me to glory. With things the way they are in the world though I am starting to think maybe Football Manager should allow you to do DBS searches on your youth coaches, anybody know how to make this a thing or who to contact?

 

They added it in FM 2018, but it only happens for regens so if you didn't play far enough to get them you wouldn't have seen it happen. Miles spoke about it at the time in a few media comments - SI didn't want to contribute to the ongoing homophobia rife in football.

Manage the group I work for in real life with a 3 manager save (Spezia, SonderjyskE and Casa Pia)

Could always do the Luton save.

Try and do as much damage as possible without getting fired. Always a fun time.

 

I'm down as 10 years younger than I actually am, and apparently I'm unemployed but I'm in this years version of FM if you fancy signing me!

 

For the first time in a long time I didn’t get the latest (2022) version. Thinking about getting 2023 though and will employ you if I do reids! Why are you 10 years younger?

 

I only got FM22 cos it was included in xbox game pass, would've skipped it if not (and tbh I barely played that either). Will give FM23 a good stab though as pretty bored of all my other games.

Not a clue why i'm 10 years younger, presume it's a data entry error as my birthday is correct but it has my year of birth down as 1998 instead of 1988!

I was really happy with my stats and then saw that they're randomised each time which made me significantly less happy.

 

Randomised in which sense; in every FM save, or have the dev’s given you those stats for this years game?

I’ve always wondered how they come up with the stats for lower division scouts and other staff etc.

 

Yeah it's too hard for them to gauge staff potential so for most staff it's random each save. So every FM save will generate me random stats for that specific save. So I could go onto be a Champions League level analyst in one persons game but be a National League analyst in another persons game

 

On mine you won't sign for Watford as you can't be bothered to move closer to the club, despite currently being unemployed and a Watford supporter. Really bizarre.

 

Ditto! That happened in my save as well! Reids just couldn’t be arsed!

 

Yeah I've had that as well, very odd!

 

One thing I will say about this FM23, having skipped 22, is that I can't help but think SI are getting a bit lazy and complacent with this game. I feel they need some strong competition. I don't really see any major improvements, apart from tweaks here and there. I knows Miles often said they'd hold off doing a 3D match engine until they were ready, now they've had it a few years though it feels a bit dated and crude. Just funny things get me, like empty car parks on match days, weird buildings right next to grounds etc.. doesn't help immerse you. I suppose they focus on getting the licenses now, e.g. UEFA for the CL and EL etc... that's great but not the be all and end all.

I dunno, I just feel like with anything if you get comfortable you don't take risks or make those big strides. Additionally, Miles on twitter comes across differently these days, seems to say the wrong things, doesn't like constructive criticism much and blocks people. Maybe I'm overreacting there, just how it feels to me.

Anyway, I'm trying to get into FM23 and will give it a try, feels like something is missing for me now with the game. It's a shame as I cut my teeth on CM2 and have mostly (bar a couple) brought the game every year from CM to FM.

 

If you need a challenge, be Watford and see how many games Choudhury can do in a row before getting sent off. Just played Birmingham and he lasted 10 minutes before 2 footing Troy.

Am I an online pal with a famous person? This ranks as highly as taking a pi$$ next to Sir Harry Secombe at a Pro-Am celeb golf tournament my Dad took me to in the 80s. Met Sir Terry Wogan and that bloke from Robins Nest too.

 

Edit yourself as a manager then put yourself in charge of Watford and see what happens.

 

Anyone still playing FM14? Currently in the 41/42 season and manager of Juve after starting at Watford before being hired by Real Madrid then going to Bayern. Had beef in my time in Germany and Italy with no less than Paul Robinson who was manager of Gladbach and is now at AC Milan.

 

Yes very true, and I do almost always end up back in 2D world.
