I started a game with Watford and am still in my first season and I am 4th In the league in January. 4th is the highest I have been all season and 8th is only 2 points behind me, so it’s going to be a hard run in. Before I started the game I put Helguson on Watford. He has been my top goalscorer so far, and he and Lansbury were great for me but I could not keep hold of them. I was not that impressed with Cathcart but still tried to get him back my failed, so I got Jason Shackell & Patrick van Aanholt in on Loan in Jan. I also have Cleverley till the end of the season. I sold Sadler for 200k and Travner for 180k aswell as Eustace for 40k. I signed Guillano Grot for 95k and a forward called Chikov who has been on fire for me and cost just over 100k. The new signings are adding goals and Hoskins has got 10 for the season whats not bad. I have the best home record in the league, but away from home I struggle. I’m hoping after the building up games in January is behind me ,and my cup runs over that I will keep my form up till the rest of the season.

Was getting fustrated with the lack of points and then i beat top of the table Palace 1-0 with Viduka scoring after 19 seconds.

Som maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel

    New FM, same old story.

Red cards, last minute goals, injuries. I manage to predict quite a lot of what is going to happen.

Despite a good pre-season we lost at home to Wycombe 0-1 in the cup their only shot in the last minute, we had battered them all game. Then lost 2-1 at Sheff U and 3-2 at Forest, again both last minute goals.

    Grrrr....!

I am top of the table after 10 games, and I'm on a 7 game league winning streaker.

Got rid of Eustace, Ellington and Harley so I could bring in Viduka, some Premiership standard DM, some morroccan striker, Skicel or whatever his name is who everyone else seems to have as well.

Lansbury sits in the hole behind a lone striker, and him and Cowie have 8 & 7 goals respectively.

Going well. Jenkins scored a 35 yarder, and Loach keeps making mistakes.

I've got into it a bit now, its not a bad game. When you get a bargain you feel quite good about it.

Brought in Gibbs as my assistant - and he is really pretty good at it - and Jackett praised me in the media for no reason :]]

so after my last post im sitting in 3rd after 25 games, currently 8 un-beaten and 5 of those being wins. The Duke has hit 9 so far and Cowie is on superb form with 10 playing from the left!

To my surprise Dale Bennett has been a regular with a rating of 7.58 keeping Marriappa out of the team! And Demerit has lost his captaincy as he wants out and is playing shyt3!

Willy Topp seems to come off the bench to score so pretty vital goals, its looking good but a takeover looks likely and i may not have a job by the end of the season!

Overall pretty impressed with the game, but will be a bit disappointed if i get sacked when in a good league position!

    Unbelievable Jeff.

I took charge of Belarus after resigning from Honduras due to there being no matches and nobody accepting my challenges for friendlies. Beat Faroe Islands 3-0 in my first WC Qualifier, then lost 1-2 at home to Denmark. Then went to Rome, and tactically outclassed the Italians, went 1-0 up with a classic counter, only for them to snatch a totally undeserved equaliser at the death. Gutted.

When you take over as manager of a small international team, do all their players suddenly show up in the game, or do you have to try and manager only 5 or 6 real players, and the rest made up?

They all show up from what I can see.

Depends on the size of the database you run and/or if you chose to load all players from a particular country. I took over the Ivory Coast on FM09 but found myself playing in the World Cup without a keeper :dismay:

On the last fm I gave Sierra Leone a go by selecting all their players and that was good fun, but was just wondering whether a foray into international management meant I would be goalkeeperless like Chewitt, or with a full range of players to choose from. I'll give it a go next time the opportunity comes up, cheers.

So following on from winning the league two title we're well into the season having played 30 games and we sit 2nd in the table, 3 points behind Bristol Rovers who i play next.

We're far exceeding expectations of a top half finish and personally i'd hoped for nothing more than a push for the play-offs so promotion would be brilliant despite the obvious financial advantage you still have to go out and beat the teams in front of you.

Only a couple transfers occured, Helguson joined on loan for 3 months but despite having an agreed fee his wages were over the limit i was allowed to offer, he wasn't that great anyway. January was a quiet month despite having £2.2M in the bank. I continued my relentless pursuit of Afonso Alves but his Saudi club still won't budge despite him wanting out. So Alvaro Recoba the Uruguayan legend joined for 70K from Boca until the end of the season.

Gutted, just lost in the Playoff Final on Penalties to Cardiff.

Had a very good season, got into the playoffs despite being tipped for the drop in pre-season.

I'll do a detailed update with screenies etc tomorrow.

  19. wfcwarehouse

    As promised, heres my screenshots.

    The table:

We finished 5th after a season of surpassing expectation. In the last 8-10 games we had a minor wobble but still managed to keep ourselves in the mix, a final day win at Swansea who were also in the playoff places confirming our place in the lottery.

    The play-offs:

We lost in the playoff final on penalties to Cardiff after a fairly equal game at Wembley. Perhaps we rode our luck a little with Brian Stock missing a penalty for Cardiff, but we also had chances.

I beat WBA on penalties in the first round of the playoffs, after a 4-3 win at the vic and a 0-1 loss at the hawthorns and a goal-less extra time period.

    The season ahead:

I've been given a £4.4Mil warchest by the board with the aims of a respectable league position. If I can keep my better players from last season (messrs Jeremain Lens, David Rodriguez and Richard Eckersley to name a few) as well as strengthening the squad, I'm confident we can push for the playoffs again.

In a massive coup for the club (see above) we managed to tempt David Beckham to the Vic on a free transfer. He's a big signing for us and I'm tempted to move Don Cowie on as a result who was largely ineffective last season.

    C'mon you 'Orns!

County march on as we sealed 2nd place in league one to take us into the Championship, unfortunately Millwall refused to slip up and we couldn't snatch the title but i'm not really fussed as I sealed back to back promotions. The hard work will start now in the Championship, the board have expected a mid-table finish but i'm confident of top-half finish and thus i was rewarded with a £9.75M transfer budget and 200K per week to spend on wages.

After all my transfer dealings i'm still left with about £7.5M which i plan to spend on any youngsters my scouts find at home and abroad as there's very little talent in my youth team, only a young Croatian regen who's already been called up by Croatia at 17 looks like he'll make it.

    Transfers
    [IMG]

Tommons (GK), Havern (ST) and Kerr (ST) are all youngsters signed for the future whilst Charlie Adam was a real bargain on a free from Blackpool after beating Celtic to his signing. Koevermans has scored over a goal in under every 2 games for the past two seasons for Feyenoord so i was suprised when they released him and once Owen turned me down he was snapped up. Hodson and Hopkinson both bought in to add depth and competition to the defence whilst DeMerit's loan is with a view to a permanent deal. Meanwhile you just can't say no to Beckham on a free :]]

The only player that left for money was Schmeichel after he started throwing a strop about not being first choice, i was happy to let him go as my reserve keeper has developed into a good No.2. Lee Hughes and Jamie Clapham retired (saved me releasing them) whilst the rest were surplus to requirements at this level.

    Final League One Table
    [IMG]

The bookies think i'm in with a good chance of promotion pricing us at 12/1 for the title but i'd be more than happy with meeting the club's expectations.

so after managing to secure second place by 4 points i got promoted to the prem, i moved on a few players and was given 6 million to spend! Jenkins was sold to man city for 8.75mill + add-ons overall coming to 11 million, the fans were not happy!

-Replaced him with Prince Bauben ( who has been out standing 7 goals for DM in 21 games)

-Hooper for 2.2 million who has also been pretty good 9 league goals in 21 league games

-Jo on loan woth a view to a 4.5 million permanent deal has 12 in 20

-Glauber is still holding his own and has been the best player this season and last season ( certainly worth it for as for a free transfer)

    - Mulgrew for 1.75 million has been average and Harley is still keeping him on his toes with good sub appearances.

    - Zakillius CB (or something like that ) from hearts has been pretty good on a free, but has a tendency to hack people down off the ball as his aggression is 20 :-S

-George Boyd has been disappointing as i spent 3.1million on him after he scored 38 goals from the wing for Peterborough and im glad only 1.4 was paid up front i think he will leave at the end of the season.

-Cowie is well worth keeping!!!!! 9 assists in 22 games 5 goals

    - Tamir Cohen signed in January after my midfield was suffering form injuries has been consistent but needs to add goals to his game!

-Surprisingly peter Wittingham came in for 900K as an emergency cover for my wingers as his is capable of playing CM/LR and he has scored 2 in 2 and set up 5 so he has also been very useful!

Currently sitting in 14th with two games in hand, i went on a fairly decent winning streak of 5 on the bounce and then i played Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Everton and Man utd and Picked up only 2 Points and it sent me on an 8 games losing streak during which i thought i lost the dressing room as everyone hated me But a 4-1 win and Hull and a 5-2 win at Portsmouth has helped me steady the ship and regain the players trust for now!

Im hoping my next game against reading and Burnley will get me a further 6 points!

Things haven't gone well in the Championship as we sit 23rd and 6 points adrift of safety with just 4 games to go, survival would have been less of a tall order if we didn't draw 2-2 with rivals Forest after being 2-0 up.

Tried to revive our season in January with a mini-clearout, shipped out some average performers and a couple of the older players such as Beckham (loan to Rangers), Recoba, Heffernan and Bernard with Gilbert, McGurk and O'Halloran being the others to leave.

In came 3 youngsters with the future in mind whilst Jermaine Beckford joined from Reading for £3M, DeMerit for 975K, Emmanuel Sarki for 875K, James O'Shea on loan from Birmingham with a view to a permanent deal plus Robbo signed on the cheap from Bolton for 350K.

Assuming we go down i wouldn't be suprised to find myself out of a job.

I just got promoted as Champions from the Chumpionship at the first attempt! I'm pretty pleased with myself.

No idea what to do now though. Probobly should renew Jay's contract and may Patrick Berger's but I don't have my transfer/wage budget in yet so how am I supposed to know?

Lansbury was absolutely fantastic and ran the team for the few months he was here - 10 goals and 5 assists in 24 games, average rating 7.14. Not half bad.

Cowie was utterly prolific before christmas but after Lansbury left he lost his way a bit. Still ended up with 12 goals in 46, plus 22 assists, 8 Man of the Matches and an average rating of 7.43!

Fabien Brandy and Hoskins also banged them in after Christmas.

Now to get slaughtered in the Premiershyte.

Oh and hilariously Sheff Utd were second for about 6 months and didn't get promoted. Newcastle didn't manage to win the Play Offs either, even though they ended up with 6 players in team of the year! Ipswich somehow managed to win the play offs, even though they were shyte.

I must be one of the first on this forum, I've been sacked by Watford. I feel I was a victim of my own success, having lost in the playoff finals last season we were slow to start this time round, and after a poor run of results I paid the ultimate price.

I was thinking of carrying on and getting a new team to manage, but having seen the game earlier I've decided to start a new one with Kettering. No idea why, just sound intruiging.
