What are the requirements when you start a career with Watford?

Don't tell me its like FM09 when you get a couple of pence for transfer money and you have to finish in the top 6.

The board expects a respectable league position.

I could be the first one on the forum to get sacked from Watford, we're 10 or so games in and we've only got a measly 7 points.

Erm well to change competition names to their real-life versions for a start? Who wants to play in the flipping 'Euro Cup'?

I think I'm going to go back to the drawing board. My current Watford game hasn't been a success so I'm going to start again and have a playaround with the tactics/training and go into more detail. It looks a lot more thorough then previous versions. I'll keep you all updated.

Started a game with Watford. Only played 2 pre-season matches so far. Ellington has been brilliant, Graham not so good. Lansbury, Cleverley and Jenkins also doing good in the midfield.

Trying to sign a couple of free transfers but the board won't let me give anyone over £800 a week in wages so trying to free up the wage bill. Can't think of how to get it sorted, nobody wants to take Hoskins on loan taking 100% of the wages.

Really like the new game rather than 2009, much improved. Hardly into it yet but liking so far and will give it a proper go over the weekend.

I lasted about 33 games at Watford before they sacked me with the club sitting in 21st position, the rumours about my future had been going on for ages and i thought i might just make it to the summer where i could try and revamp the squad but it wasn't to be.

Ended up taking the Woking job with 2 games to go in the BSS and went on holiday for each game with nothing to play for, currently in July and a consortium has taken over the club and are rumoured to want their own man in charge so i could find myself out of a job soon  They've already pumped 500K into the club to put the club on good financial footing.

As expected the new board sacked me and thus i was sacked without taking charge of a single game, wan*ers

I decided to manage Wycombe, and am currently sitting in the bottom half of the table after only a few games. I'm happy with my progress so far, I was predicted second bottom, but I can't see myself being in the relegation zone.

With a £0 transfer budget, I struggled to initially make any signings, but then I managed to bring in Willy Topp, Seyo Soley and Lars Stubhaug as free transfers and James Chester and John Bostock as loans.

Just lost 4-3 to Southampton, pulled it back from 3-1 down, only to concede a last minute free kick. So frustrating, but oh well that's life. My managerial career seems to have got off to a decent start, I'll keep you posted.

Looking to bring in Ebi Smoralek or Henri Camara on free's. Have to sort out the wage budget first as the club won't let me give them over a grand on wages.

How did you lot sort it out?

EDIT: Sorted the wage problem now.

Hmm, who should I bring in, Ebi Smoralek or Henri Camara? Also saw on FM-Base that theres a guy called Willy Topp and he's good. All 3 of them avaliable on free's.

    Thoughts..?

Purchased it last week. Sacked after 29 games in 20th position. Couldn't re-sign Cathcart, Lansbury or Weiss (I loaned him from Man City...he's quality on the right wing). Ended up signing some Dutch/Belgian kid on loan from Manure (De Laet or something) to play at the back. Demerit was sold over my head in january to Newcastle for 800k.

It's a tough game this year, but much more realistic. I like it. Will start again now I know what to expect.

One player I do recommend as a cheap signing...Reuben Reid on loan from WBA. He's quality! I signed him in January until the end of the season...he only played 4 games for me before I was sacked, but he scored 7 goals in that time. I also got Bostock on loan from the ***s in January. He did well for me before I was sacked!

Finished 17th in my first season. Really tailed away in the final third of the season after being pretty decent for the first two. Ebi Smolarek was a revelation for me, ending up with 39 goals in 50 games in all competitions. Liam Henderson (of all people!) was also a suprising name to see on the score-sheet, notching 13 in 30 appearances. Hopefully I can use my budget wisely (should have about a few quid to spend after I sold Jenkins for a comical £9 Mil!) and push on towards the top 6 next season. You 'Orns!

Jenkins is very good on this game.

Just passed Xmas and I'm 10th. Very challenging this year. As for signings I got some Spanish chap called ruz whose been great and Richie foran whose hit and miss. Also got rudi skacel (sick note) on a free and hes shown glimpses of ability.

Sold marriapa, sadler and harley ( the only people I could really) and working with depleted squad. Lots of 1 goal wins, not looking as good as the table suggests but it's really tight. Looking forward to the rebuilding in the summer with some key contracts running out.

    Season 09/10:

The board expected a top half finish, and I thought that could be within my reaches, especially after the sale of Ross Jenkins for £9 Million to Sunderland. I was given about £3 Million of that to spend with most of it going towards clearing the debt/wage bill of the club. With that in mind, it's perhaps ironic that Ebi Smolarek was my 'big' signing of the summer, on a free transfer.

That is my transfer business (both in and out) for the summer. Smolarek proved to be an absolute star for me, scoring over nearly a goal a game throughout the season. I was hoping for him to repeat the trick this year, but we got a bid of £3 Million from PSV and the board accepted over my head and sold him... R.O.N! :sign15: The only good thing is that got added to my budget for this season... I've got just under £5 million to spend, and the board aim is to consolidate in the league. I'm very confident of doing that, although if I can buy a few decent players we could even be outsiders for a playoff bid.

We finished mid-table in the championship last year (see league table below) and I'd definitely like to think that at the least we'll improve on that.

I'll update when I next get the chance.

    Middlesbrough relegated LOL.

Tried to sign that Ebi Smarolek or whatever his name is and he rejected me and joined Coventry. Got Mark Viduka on a free instead and hopefully he can score a lot.

on the basis of that i will try and sell him on in my game. he is currently sitting on the bench, although i have only played one game, beating doncaster 2-1, with graham and cowie scoring (both goals were from outside the box, and cowies was a long range curling effort from 35 yards, a trademark piledriver apparently).

my summer transfer business was selling sadler for 100k, not sure who too, will find out (mightve been forest). incoming transfers were all free as i transferred all my funds to allow a higher wage budget, the players brought in were:

    - lars stubhaug (promising young goalkeeper)
    - mark viduka (on my first game i was not impressed but after taking him on trial, i decided to give him another chance)
    - willy topp (saw him recommended on here, gave him a trial, signed him up too.
    - henri camara (not yet complete, currently in contract negotiations, he wants £4k per week, i dont really want to offer anymore than 3.5k, considering he will be the sixth striker in my squad!!!!!!

i also had edgar davids on trial, but he didnt do enough to impress me into giving him a contract.

problem with these free transfers is that my transfer budget has rocketed. i might send cathcart back to united as he does not seem any better than what i have already got.

am going to begin contract negotiations with jay, but cant afford the 10k a week he wants.

I had a previous game but 2 games in I realised I set it up wrong :forehead: only had Championship and Premiership set up :forehead:

I sold Jenkins for 8 mill.

    bought in with that.

    James McArthur - 550k
    Sol Bamba - 2 Mill.
Titi Buengo - 80k (bargain! 2 goals on debut)
    John Fleck - season loan
    Nacer Barazite - season loan
    Weiss - season loan

Looking for one more defender. 2 games in, beat Donny 4-0 - Scorers: Graham,McArthur, Weiss, an Own Goal.

Then beat Aldershot 4-0 - Scorers: Buengo x2 Cowie and Marriappa

    Going well so far.
