Glad my efforts were not in vain.

I'd agree with that comparisson. Chase - now there's someone who's career suddenly went down the toilet for no apparent reason - other than the times moving faster than he could.

Now that made me laugh out loud. M'colleagues are staring at me in disbelief.

Talladega Nights is also very funny - and again a pistake on an american institution.

I'm not sure if I've seen TN, but I assume if I mix up some images of BOG and Anchorman I can talk about it in sufficient detail to pretend I have, if it comes up at a cocktail party.

I bet Chase, Steve Martin and the like must have either been choked with envy or encouraged by Bill Murray's renaissance, in boring, oscar nominated claptrap.

For me Chase is emminently watchable and his films have more charm than the recent Ferrell efforts, but you could see the Vacation movies being remade with Will as Clarke W Griswald.

on a more serious note, every american comedy is a pistake of some arious aspect of american life nowaday. be it dodgeball or be it school, former members of the snl cast will seize on it.

point break - the highlight for me is when nixon throws a dog at keanu who, after grappling with it in a leslie neilson versus towel circa naked gun fashion, dropkicks it into the garden

Will Ferrell is funny in his cameo in the first Austin Powers movie when he falls off the cliff. He also acts in Stranger than Fiction, and far better than I thought he could.

Jim Carrey is totally unbelievable as an actor. His little artificial world try to be serious movie sucked so much ass it's not even funny. He needs to get back to sticking asparagus up his nose, making faces or whatever he did that actually worked, like a guy who can't say no or a guy who can't tell the truth or just a sack of imitations.

Ferrell in Old School is rad.

You know who isn't funny AT ALL? Dane Cook. As an American, I apologize to the world for George W Bush and Dane Cook.

Just watched the last 30 mins of the 2006 remake of 'Black Christmas', and I have to say that it's one of the biggest, steaming piles of sh*t that I've ever seen.

i've been sick in bed all day so i've watched quite a few movies today, the stand out ones being commando, king kong vs godzilla and the manchurian candidate (original). all great ways to pass the time inbetween being sick out both ends

Good film, though to be fair, all Arnie films are amazing in their own special way.

I once had a bet with a mate that the bird in that would be fit when she grew up, even though she was not a pretty kid. Hey Presto, Alissa Milano.

On an earlier theme, I received my latest offering from www.lovefilm.com over the weekend. For those who don't know how it works - you pay a monthly fee and then you get unlimited rentals by post, which you select in advance. You pick a list of films you want to see and then when they are available, they send them to you one or two at a time.

This week, I received Tallodega Nights, which I'd clearly chosen before I'd seen the likes of Blades of Glory. This was the worst film I can remember seeing. Sacha Baron-Cohen was embarassing in it. The script was a disgrace and Ferrell has converted me once and for all, from a fan of his (prompted by Old School) to someone who loathes him deeply.

I saw Tropic Thunder at the weekend. I thought it was quite entertaining with some good funnies, but did drag at certain points.

My favourite section of the film was the spoof trailer for the actor played by Robert Downey Jr. set in an abbey and co-starring Tobey McGuire.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen the film but those that have I hope you know what I am talking about.

p.s. the film title for the trailer above is the best euphamism I have heard.

Saw Sliding Doors last night starring Gwynith Paltrow. Don't like chick flicks but wasn't too bad.

It's not like I haven't tried. I've watched all his films, but they've been progressively more awful.

i went to the cinema last year with my mate. armed with a load of beers we went for the first showing of the day and were the only people in there. he had to leave after an hour so i watched all of that movie on my own, in the big cinema, with beer. it was beautiful, even of the movie was as you say, average

I watched 'Hud' last night, part of FilmFour's tribute to Paul Newman and watching him open cans of beer all the way through the film made me realise I had forgotten about life before ring-pull cans. The days when, to open a can of beer, you had to pierce it with two triangle shaped holes on either side of the can or if you didn't have one of those kitchen tools available, stab it twice with a screwdriver.

I don't believe it. He would be a jibbering mess, having to breath the same recycled air as everyone else on the plane.
