Batting suicide. When they need 4 runs an over for 15 overs, and huge gaps in the field, why do they try to hook/blast every ball out of the ground for 4 or 6?
A stroll in the park. We really should have been able to make a good fist of defending a decent score.
Good recovery. Amazingly similar stats..... BATTERS R B 4s 6s SR Jos Buttler*(rhb) 97 103 6 4 94.17 7 (15b) 21 (17b) Dawid Malan(lhb) 97 102 6 4 95.09 EDIT now identical Dawid Malan*(lhb) 98 104 6 4 94.23 13 (14b) 27 (15b) Jos Buttler(rhb) 98 104 6 4 94.23
What's with the echo on the Sky commentary? They sound like they're speaking through loudhailers. So annoying I turned it off.
Yes looked in some jeopardy at this point ..... SA: 274/6CRR: 7.02 • RRR: 6.63 • Need 73 runs from 11 overs ..and at that point a very fast partnership of 81 was in progress. Good to see Archer getting back to his best in time for the ashes.
Harry Brook carrying on from his exploits in Pakistan. Good knock for Duckett. Less said about Crawley the better !
"...Crawley was dropped, bowled off a no-ball then finally edged to second slip in the space of 14 balls, ..." As you say, the less said the better. He's either brilliant or embarrassingly dreadful.
He is. What an athlete he is. So competitive/driven too....not that he's often successfully driven of course...you know what I mean.....
Unfortunately he is not brilliant enough. Not sure how much longer he will last as he is simply not getting any better.
I wonder how many other tests on day one see a team go at nearly six an over and declare half way through the third session. Has to be said Bazball is very entertaining. Australia in the summer will be very interesting. Only one maiden in our entire first innings. Has there ever been an innings with none? Not including 4th innings
