Got slaughtered I see. I can’t believe we reached 147. Thought I’d wake up to under 100 easy. Won the toss and batted on a pitch that any competent captain would have bowled on. Especially when they haven’t had a full day’s worth of batting in the build up. Shame we don’t have one. Thankfully, this should be Root’s final series as ‘captain’. A truly awful era.
Why on earth omit Broad? The only surprising aspect Is that TUT hasn’t been on yet saying he told us so.
A bad toss call. An awful first ball. A terrible day. Mind you the lower order rallied to get us over 100 I guess!
I can't believe I stayed up till about 1:10 when Stokes got out. It didn't help that the first two wickets went to ordinary balls, the one that got Root was almost unplayable, but we shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. For me the match was lost before the toss, given the weather you would have wanted Anderson and Broad attacking from the off, without them we have a team who look like rabbits in headlights.
No idea why we elected to bat first looking at the pitch and weather, crazy. Not that it would matter anyway in the long run as our batting is village level at best. Something weirdly overlooked when a lot of the TMS pundits were making their 2-2 series predictions. If you can't score 400/500 in Australia you are sunk and at present I can't see how England will get to that once, let alone 2 or 3 times. It's going to be 4 or 5-0 isn't it? I hope I eat my words.
Bit depressing when yet again Chris Woakes is better with the bat than our openers. I think we all know this is going to be a whitewash. I enjoy watching us field more than bat - it shouldn't be this way.
Great toss to win Terrible choice to bat Early wickets which happens every match If Root doesn't get a ton were shafted Not anywhere near good enough Thank god I don't have BT sports
A series of terrible decisions up to and including the toss. Even Agnew removed the fence posts from his arse and expressed mild surprise
Aussies and Travis Head putting us out of the game? With our batting a lead of 180/200 will be more than enough in all likelihood.
Innings defeat incoming, feel sorry for Robinson and Wood having a clown captain and idiots in the field. After many years of watching England test cricket, think I’ve had just about enough.
The series is basically over already. We really needed a confidence boosting start to make the players believe. Unfortunately our inability to bat or bowl or get important decisions right has very unfairly weighed against us.
England not happy Stokes wasn’t called out for previous no balls before the David Warner “wicket” one . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59579981
A pretty impressive comeback partnership. Can they restart it tomorrow and take England to a decent lead?
Right, I’m staying up for a bit of cricket. Fully intend to focus the luck I brought to Watford onto England, before moving on to Lewis Hamilton tomorrow.
I was at the Gabba for day 4 in 2011. My first ever international test match. Probably bored you all with that before. Desperately hoping Root and Malan do a Cook and Trott but I'm nervous that it could all be over very quickly. Still at least they've shown a bit of fight. It's the hope that kills you...
Bit like Watford maybe!?? 5th test in Hobart. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59589824 Apparently Shane Warne wasn't very keen on the idea!
2 night tests, interesting. I wonder how that will influence the outcome if the series is miraculously still in the balance
