Decent total. NZ need 11 an over of the last 10 which is a tough ask. Wickets in hand though. I reckon this could go to the wire
win probabilities now 41% NZ / 59% Eng on ESPN. Great time for a wicket and good that it was Conway. Now 28/72%
Just shows it only takes one good/bad spell to turn things around. Disappointing but credit to New Zealand.
Was pretty much the cricket version of our win at Goodison (from the Everton viewpoint). In a position to see it out easily, but got smashed out of the park in the final stages.
Bowling second seems to be tricky. May turn on who wins the toss. Not much to choose between the two Antipodean teams IMO.
Pakistan fans will be feeling as we did yesterday. A carbon copy ! Blooming Aussies pulling that out of the bag !
Yes. In T20 it's such an advantage knowing what you need to get particularly when it comes to those last 3 overs or so.
Yes though 1/T20 is a lottery anyway 2/Batting 2nd 3/We were without Roy, Stokes, Archer & even Mills.
New Zealand's Devon Conway out of final after punching bat https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59251263
I haven't read the article, but these animal rights people have gone too far if they've got him banned for that
Think Stokes slammed his fist into a changing room locker? Conway was a bit more unlucky. Also means no Somerset players in the final given that Babar Azam got knocked out yesterday.
Has anyone listened to the Allen stanford podcast on bbc sounds? Thought it was pretty interesting. Well worth a listen
I don’t think knowing what they had to chase had that much to do with it. They could have won in 14 overs if they had felt like it. Strangely flat performance from the Kiwis, except Williamson and Boult.
Indeed, had they known they needed to win in 14 overs they probably would have. Batting second allows you to pace yourself and reel the target in. No first innings uncertainty of "what is a a good score on this pitch?". Knowing they needed 173 meant they always knew they were on track from very early on. Had they been batting first they may have gone too fast, targeted 190, lost wickets and ended at 150. Knowing the target batting second is a huge advantage.
Without doubt. A very easy win. But I'd have backed NZ if the Aussie's had had to bat first. Who knows what they'd have got with all the first innings uncertainty and NZ knowing what pace they needed to set out at... We thrashed the Aussies, NZ beat us and yet Aussies easily beat NZ. What did all those results have in common ??
Nope, don’t agree. If the Aussies had batted like that, and NZ bowled like that, the Aussies would still have won batting first.
