I'm in Dubai currently and it is the same here. A few people wearing masks but that's about it. I might stock up on loo roll and hand gel to sell back home.

I've seen a few things saying that smokers are also more vulnerable to the virus, but one thing I haven't seen any speculation on is the effect of general air pollution; northern Italy has the worst air pollution in Europe, and Chinese cities generally have the worst air pollution in Asia. Tehran is also amongst the worst cities in the world for air pollution - surely it is also not just a coincidence that the virus appears to have generally spread more and had the most damaging effects in areas that were incredibly high in smog?

Yes, he might be wrong. No one has said otherwise. I'm sure a lot of the info that's currently known is wrong. That's the nature of dealing with an unfolding previously unknown medical challenge. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

It also appears that it’s not just age alone that puts people at risk, in most cases it’s age coupled with a pre existing condition which is often respiratory based. This nearly 70 year old British couple tested positive and were quarantined but never developed any symptoms because they were otherwise healthy:

So in other words it’s almost complete benign and often symptomless or very mild amongst otherwise healthy people below 70.

Not sure if the whole thing is being hyped up, but I have, with deep regret, decided to abandon my trip to the Vic this weekend with my boys. They have accepted it, again with disappointment. I simply would not feel comfortable on the planes and airport buses, to the extent that it would take away the enjoyment of the trip. I lose out on the costs of the flights and the match tickets, but it could be worse. There will be many other opportunities.
