Moor shameful display?

  1. We outclass and humiliate a limited Burnley with a clean sheet and 3 or more goals

  2. We outfight and frustrate a limited Burnley with a professional win but a slender margin

  3. We grind out a goalless draw with a clean sheet at last

  4. We battle hard but fall to a last gasp goal by their substitute from a set piece

  5. We are outfought and out thought by a limited Burnley who see us off in a comfortable 1–0

  6. We completely crumble to a limited Burnley and lose by 3 or more

  7. The game is postponed because of Covid

Clean sheets are a good foundation to build from but only if we start putting away some chances. Our chances were powderpuff at best and Pope could have worn the same kit next week if for a deflected Cleverley shot. Nick a goal & keep a clean sheet.

Why don’t you read my post again you numpty, I didn’t say that was one of the worst Watford performances I’ve ever seen did I? I said it was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen. What would be the better game from a neutral point of view? A 0-0 or a 0-3?

I was thinking something similar during the closing minutes - "god, I just remembered, we have to play this lot again this season!?"

Maybe the problem with Claudio was that bizarrely lots of our players actually don't like pizza?!

  7. Ha, maybe Roy offered them a Sunday roast instead which made the difference.

Really enjoyed our performance. Looked solid and resolute. Nothing up front, but I didn’t really expect much without Sarr or Dennis.

Should gave been given a clear penalty but we’re Watford, we just don’t get those.

No coincidence that Hodgson’s first game sees our first clean sheet since Liverpool.

We are staying up. All you faint hearted Mary’s can just do one :D

What I will say is that it's (finally!) a clean sheet, and instead of the utterly gutless display last time out, it was a battling performance...just a shame draws aren't much use to us now

    We Woz Robbed!!!

Should have had a penalty even the BT pundits all agreed that we should have.

    As for the team: -

Foster - Great to have him back
Kiko - Not great but did OK
    Cathcart - Ditto Kiko
Samir - I'm liking this guy a definite upgrade
    Kamara - Ditto Samir
Kucka - One of his better games for us
    Kayembe - Ditto Samir
Sissoko - Not one of his better games, needs to improve his passing and shooting
Sema - Not great, but not to bad either
King - Still think he is only a very slight upgrade on Gray
Pedro - OK, but not his best game.

Didnt think it was a penalty.

One of the worse things about getting relegated will be playing Burnley again.

Up until about halfway through the first half for me it was a contender for the worst Premier League game I've seen Watford play in (I daresay there were worse games in the lower divisions) - up there with Sheffield United (h) in 2006/07, Bournemouth (h) 2015/16 and Burnley (h) 2018/19. It improved a bit as we managed to string some passes together en route to goal, but it was still a pretty tough watch on the whole.

To be honest, fans of the teams just above us will have seen this match and thought that's only one relegation place they need to worry about.

See your point, but I think it's a criminal justice sort of vibe, like how repeat offenders get heavy sentences whereas first time offenders often get let off with a suspended sentence. TVOR is reaching the point where black magic is used to create another dimension solely to hold him.

That early booking effected King. No way a yellow unless he mouthed off at the ref. Pedro got caught out making the wrong decision today. Sema tried but he lacks that quality for this league as for kuco he’s had worse games and again decision making at points were poor.

Our midfield was on the back foot when Cleverly came on which was a hard game to find his feet and it proved with his poor performance. Can’t remember winning to many 2nd balls after the 70min mark. Which was kuco responsibility ok as well as others.
Hopefully Etebo Louza come back sooner than later.

Ive never known Peter Walton to ever disagree with a refereeing or VAR deicision...until today.

Thats how much of a penalty it was.

Proof will come when we have Sarr and Dennis back together.

There's not a side in the division that doesn't look gash when they haven't got their best two players available

Agree with all that apart from the bit in bold. Sema made what could have been a couple of key passes early on, got in some good positions and did the simple stuff well enough (what I imagine Roy instructed him to do) - trouble is, he's just really limited at this level, has no finesse, can barely cross (the only good cross I remember him putting in was the assist at Bournemouth three seasons ago) and has virtually no end product. As for Cleverley, he wasn't on long enough for me to really rate him either way (or maybe I'd just largely lost interest in the game by that point) - but he won a corner with some good interplay with Cucho and took a rare card for the team with his typical determination, so not totally useless - he's certainly a far more important player for the battle ahead than Sema.

Pedro is the problem to me, his decision making when we are attacking is so bad at times. He is either dribbling too much, overhitting a simple pass to set up someone, or shooting when he should have passed the ball to someone in a better position. Burnley's defence was shaky throughout. Can't see them keeping a clean sheet if Dennis was available and was paired with King in our attack.

Total opposite to my cat in that respect - I'm surprised if I only get two meows from him during one petting session!

It seems not many here like cats but if you get a cat of your own and a nice one at that, as opposed to just experiencing one that's a nuisance in your garden or mistrustful of strangers, the likelihood is you'll appreciate them for the ace pets they can be.

Even Peter Walton thought we should’ve had a penalty when he was brought in at half time, and he always sides with the on field decision.

It should never have been a penalty as the old rule of deliberate handball was just fine but that's not what we play to anymore.

We were utterly stiffed by two goals in the relegation season that should've been ruled out under the rules at the time (which have now changed) in Southampton and Newcastle.

Now we've been stitched up again. Obviously it's not an intentional handball but that's not what the rule is. Did the Burnley player make himself bigger by turning away from the ball with his arm out? Yes. Was it an unnatural position? Yes. If he's prepared to take that ball in the face and not look away then his arm would never be out like that. It's a penalty but the VAR couldn't even be bothered to look properly, the check was so quick. Contrast that with numerous other incidents where they've pored over it, going backwards and forwards with different angles for something far less obvious.

It's a really bad decision and the speed they reached it at makes it even worse.

Not sure why fans can’t understand this. We are Watford, not Man City. We’ll never get these decisions and never will no matter how clear cut it is. It’s a football fact of life. I’ve long come to terms with it.

For example see how long they took when the Wolves player took one in the armpit and then after about 20 replays inexplicably gave City the game winning penalty.
