That is why the crimp was put to the side because their dirty hands could then hold it easier and the crust would then be thrown away. I believe the original ones also had a sweet filling in the end so that it was a 'complete' meal.

Bedfordshire also have a variation called the clanger, which has the meet one end and sweet the other.

McDonalds have just started testing this monstrosity in Houston. Firstly, there is literally nothing English about it that I can see. Secondly, the advert features some idiot talking like a chimney sweep. Embarrassing.

So, putting meat and a bit of vegetables into a piece of pastry and baking it is limited to the modern administrative borders of Cornwall in your opinion? Even to the point that locations near to the neighbouring counties are sullied in their ability to produce such a simple foodstuff?

Really, you do talk utter bollox. You can take some mince, peas, carrots and pastry in Bangalore and still make a delicious pasty. The concept of putting meat in pastry is not unique to Cornwall and thousands of countries have their own, delicious equivalents.

It's simply propaganda by small-minded, Cornish biggots which gives rise to the sort of protectionist racket which defines a food by where it's produced, rather than how or the quality.
