This is a good idea! That's what it felt like.

I very much appreciate the suggestions on this thread, some of them are very inventive if totally impractical. I thought Prentice's idea was the most feasible so I have done an online search of tablecloth clips. The problem is the metal rim of the trampoline is quite thick even without including the padding on top but I have ordered some stainless steel clips that are supposedly large and expandable. When they arrive I'll give them a try, if it ever stops raining long enough.

BTW simms, the trampoline is 14ft in diameter. It doesn't have 4 sides, it has one. If it had corners it would be easy like putting a fitted sheet on a bed. As it is, it is like trying to put a shower cap over a car tyre.

Once you have the trampoline up and working do you just plan to jump and down on it, or are you going to throw a few twirls and backflips into your sequence.

It's an old trampoline, had it for years and the person it was bought for has gone to Uni. It's been through a few covers over the years but they've always been tie on and easy to manage. The old cover had disintegrated and it was either a new cover or get rid of the trampoline. I like a quick bounce  but if it takes me longer to put the cover back on than I spend on the trampoline, it's not worth bothering.

On the sides of the trampolines there should be flaps underneath right? As in a little ring of some sort of material running around the circumference of the trampoline and is attached underneath.
You should be able to tuck the elastic in underneath the 'flaps' as they're stuck on fairly tight, so that way you can deal with one side first without it pinging out.

How I used to do it.

Robotic arms would have been the most practical suggestion, looking back.

Some good old fashioned extendible hydraulic arms.

    Undo the elastic

    put the cover on loose

    tighten the elastic

tie the knot back in it !

    It worked for us

The tablecloth clips arrived today so I pulled the cover off, had a quick bounce and then attempted to put the cover back on. The first couple of times I tried, the clips pinged off and I had to go hunting for them, but then I tried putting them fairly close together and although one pinged off the others held while I stretched the cover round the edge.

So many thanks for all the suggestions but the winner of the trampoline cover competition is Prentice!

I still haven't found the clip that pinged off, which is ridiculous, so I'll have another search for it later with fresh eyes.
