£10 into £2000 in 365 days

If you think the bets of 20 odd people on a football forum will alter odds then you don't really have a grasp of the gambling world. No disrespect.

 

You're right to a certain degree but it would have to be a decent amount of money. If we're all betting a tenner then it will get through no problems. £100 each and some half decent odds and you may see a change, although they will usually limit a bet to £25 or the like first.

 

Wouldn't this be made worse if everyone bets through Paddypower as suggested?

 

If it's Icelandic Women's 2nd division football then absolutely. Mainstream events or horses and no problem.

The other alternative is an exchange like Betfair, where they simply don't care who bets on what or how much.

 

There's a facebook group as well with currently 162 people in it. Odds will probably get affected, but not a whole bunch, that'll only really be a problem when large amounts are going on it (so towards the end of the challenge). Because to start off with we'll only be staking 70p or so.

 

When are we starting then Reids?

Oh dear, that's very bad. If there are hundreds of people betting on the same event and it's even slightly off piste and they're winning then your accounts are going to be seriously under threat. If you really do start making serious money then it will go viral and be effectively dead. Ten or so people no problem, hundreds = huge problem. It can't be done in such numbers reids.

 

If I take part you will all be in debt as my luck is, well...****.

 

First bets up Wednesday evening. Check the gambling thread for my daily picks before then though..

 

I will be putting 100 times what Reid suggests on each bet.

Nk Siroki Brijeg got lucky reaching this far. They qualified by winning the Bosnian Cup, and to say they had it lucky is an understatement. They finished 6th out of 16 in the Bosnian Premier league last season, but faced the champions of the PL in the Bosnian Cup. Both legs ended 1-1 and they ended up winning on penalties. The semi final they played a team the division below them (a huge gulf in c lass) and won 8-2 on aggregate. The quarter finals they played a team in the same division and again scraped through on penalties.
Udinese on the other hand, finished 5th in Serie A, and have taken a full 25 man squad containing a majority of their first team (missing only 3 first team members from last season, 1 of those is a long time injury and the other has been sold, so a strong squad to say the least). Will be VERY surprised if Udinese don't make the handicap.

Bet 2 :

STAKE: 35p (AS AN ACCUMULATOR)

These will be a mainstay of our journey. I usally know the leagues for the optimum bets for these type of bets, but none of them are running on this particular day, so i'm taking a little risk with this (hence the smaller stake). I generally find that these sort of accumulators (paying evens) only lose ever 4 or 5 times I do them, which when they payout at around evens, still means profit:

Have a look at the other odds, Tromso to win is 1/4, so massive favourites they are. However they're 4/5 for -1 handicap, and only evens to keep a clean sheet. So they're expecting a 1-0 or 2-0 win to Tromso, with the potential for the away team to grab a goal. Of course it could end up being more than that, but that's the luck factor!

Is the plan to try not to win too much so the bookie doesn't notice, as if this comes in you win 68p!

 

It's about careful staking, sure the returns are only 68p, but we only staked 35p on it, so that's almost evens. As much as I'd like to say "lets stick all our money on it" that's not very careful or sustainable!
