It looks like the players are determined to make us suffer through hope until the last day of the season, no idea how we won that. Pozzo out.
Uninspiring win but 3 points are 3 points. Keeper gaff and own goal isn't something to massively celebrate but at least Pedro is improving his price in the Summer
The other teams are taunting us now, the one time we win, everyone else (apart from Preston, who of course were against Millwall) wins too!
We win 2-0 and stay 12th. But even more bizzare, we cut the playoff race from six points to just three. But, there are six sides ahead of us all fighting it out. It's not going to happen, we know that and most of us don't want it to happen. Even more telling is how well we follow up wins this season. If we win our next two? Maybe a few fans' might start to believe, but we have left ourselves too much to do over such a poor season filled with average sides. As for the game? Not brilliant for the neutral, but we somehow scored early with a pinball effort and some laughable Bristol City defending. City hit the bar, and brought one great save from Bachmann just before we scored again, a nice finish from Pedro which wrapped up the points on anyother day we would be a lot more happy. Nothing changes in our scheme of things that need to change, today just happened to be a day we just about did enough to beat a below par City side who actually dominated chances, especially the first half. Sarr did, I think one decent thing all game. Davis useless again. Cannot wait for him to leave. Special shout out to Andrews today. Best of a bland bunch. Really hope we can keep hold of him for next season, we are going to need players' with a bit of hunger and fight. Bachmann didn't get his Kung-Foo on today at least. Still not convinced of this current side, and it's just a paper-over-the-cracks sort of performance really. Too many better sides above us for us to be a serious last minute threat. But as many in the SB pointed out, this division is bobbins, and the fact we are midtable but just one win mathematically off 6th place proves that.
That was quite similar to the Coventry game, except Bristol City lack some of the firepower which Coventry have. A relatively end of season friendly feel of a game really. We really do seem allergic to marking the far post from corners - Bristol could have scored that way in the first half. Some important saves from Bachmann. The question remains as to what's happened to his kicking?! Kamara didn't really offer much. Hoedt had a decent game. Porteous was absolutely terrible - he made a couple of sloppy clearances straight to opponents next to him again, his lack of pace got exposed, and his positioning was all over the place at times. His performances in the last few games have been of major concern. Andrews - the braver performance I'd hoped to see from him. Solid game. He'll have much tougher tests in future mind than up against another youngster in Bell, who was crap tbh. Choudhury was Choudhury. Louza has been playing like a ghost since his return - real lack of energy. Bachuna - he's not very good, but did some alright things today I guess. Pretty typical Sarr performance for this season - mostly disinterested with occasional flashes. JP was pretty sloppy until the goal, which itself was pretty fortunate. Was better later on when required to hold the ball up. Davis looked knackered in the first half already.
Blackburn have Hull later this evening, they are 3 points clear of us at the moment but also have another game in hand on us, so nothing has really changed. After today they have 4 tough games against teams well in the promotion hunt (including Burnley), but it'll still take a miracle for us to overtake them, and then we'll also have to overtake various other teams too
It's game on isn't it. Isn't it? Has HMSPTL actually been a submarine this season? Run Silent, Run Deep!!
We've played well in what? 5 games all season? How the hell are we still 3 points off the top 6. Awful standard in this league. Feel we really missed an opportunity this year though. We didn't need to be *that good* to be comfortably top 6, and even challenge top 2. It'll be tougher next year with some of the teams coming down.
No it was all ‘Watford til we die’ from the half of the 1881 that showed up. By ‘til we done’ they obviously mean ‘when they win’.
They attempted to walk it the length of the stand, until the stewards stripped the banner of them again and escorted them up the stairs. I'm not sure a moving flag can be classed as obstructing views, so let's see what creative excuse the club come up with this time. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Well, glad we won, however we managed it. If City had anyone at all who could head a ball at the goal we'd have lost 2-5.
And you didn't attempt to start a "Pozzo out" chant yourself?! I'm sure Jumbolina will be rushing in any minute to call you a "disgrace" or something for such egregious facilitating.
This win today, combined with the interest of this thread right after a game, really tells you everything any fan knows about how we feel about the club right now. Even a half-arsed win hardly raises a smile...
What was more hilarious was the amount of stewards they thought was needed for two greying blokes. The ones ‘rushing down’ from The Rookery were a particular highlight.
Only one pretty quiet 'We want Pozzo out' chant on the left handside of the Rookery after the banner had come out that I heard.
Two mid-table teams with nothing to play for enjoyed a kick-about in the spring sunshine st Vicarage Road this afternoon. Overall Bristol were probably the better team and can consider themselves unlucky to finish with nothing. The referee had a shocker - on a number of occasions he gave a decision only to inexplicably change his mind a few seconds later - but it didn't matter to the home fans who were just glad to put last week's unhappy scenes behind them. "It turns out it was just a silly misunderstanding and the players are, in fact, perfectly fit to wear the shirt after all," explained one replica kit-wearing Hornets supporter as he enthusiastically cheered the Watford team off the pitch after the final whistle. "The two blokes who walked along the front of the GT stand with their silly 'Pozzo Out' banner, should be ashamed of themselves," he added.
An enjoyable end of season game in the sunshine today, with some solid performances on show. We will miss Pedro when he goes this summer - he was a cut above everyone else on the pitch today and his maturity belies his years. In many ways, the game has brought home just how frustrating this season has been. We did not have to do much more at all to finish inside the play-offs. However, we did still concede too many chances today for a side with genuine promotion aspirations, so perhaps this would have merely delayed the inevitable heartache. Nonetheless, we won the much anticipated Completely And Utterly Mid-Table Derby so we're on the lash tonight.
I've had an epidural for a slipped disc. I can't lie I absolutely shat myself when I saw the size of the needle
About as abysmal a 2-0 win as you could ever hope to see. Immediately deleted from my memory. At least it was sunny.
Pedro was poor, but he picked up an injury in the warm up which may explain why he was so off his game. Kamara still manages to get worse with each game. Davis was crap and looked exhausted. Sarr was a waste of a shirt. Andrews was solid and reliable - he deserved the reaction he got when he went off. Kone made a big difference when he came on.
Interesting reaction when the Pozzo out banner was taken for a walk - it is certainly not as unanimous a feeling as you would expect given the comments in here and Twitter.
Seemed to be no reaction at all. Maybe everyone was asleep by then or enjoying the sunny weather ! New tannoy announcer - wasn’t sure about her. Seemed to be pretty dull and bland basically reading from a script and got names wrong .
Sunny, three points, Pedro scores and a clean sheet. What’s not to like? A 0-0 in truth! An own goal and a tame shot from JP that’s found its way through. Played better and lost at times this season.
