Give me all the bad eggs with talent - when the alternative is brilliant eggs who are crap at football.
No sir. This will ruin the brilliant team ethic between Bayo, Cleverley, troost and Kayembe. The drop off in those players contributions simply cannot be risked.
No news, but I'm just wondering, with Forest within touching distance of safety, are we in for a small windfall?
Might be linked to an appearance target too though ? If he didn’t play and they stayed up would we be due a payment ?
https://theathletic.com/4623934/2023/06/22/emmanuel-dennis-nottingham-forest-transfer/ Dennis looking to leave Nottingham Forest and we'll get a Sell-On Fee as a result.
Maybe the Athletic are wording it wrong, but it doesn't say anything about profit, just that we get a chunk if he's sold. Financially, it's a shame for us that he's not interested in going to Saudi Arabia, as he seems the sort of profile of player who would go there...wait, have I just been sportswashed?
I still don't think we'd get a sell on if they sell him at a loss. Would be a pretty dumb deal on their part. Of course if he went to Saudi they might make money on him but doubt he's top of their shopping list
I didn’t see that in him. I always expected that to be the case, but he actually gave some really inspired performances. I thought he did well for the team and put a shift in most games.
Shows just how different our perspectives can be, even when we're watching the same players, in the same team, week in week out. Maybe we're not looking for the same things in a player. Maybe we are but the tell tale signs we notice are different. Personally, I felt like his decision making was terrible and he wasted easily as many chances as he created - opting to take on an extra man rather than play the easy ball, or shooting from a bad position rather than slot someone else in. Sure we could both find stats to back up the view either way but genuinely felt like we were robbing Forest blind when we sold him.
His decision making was often poor but I certainly don't consider him to be the most selfish player I've seen for Watford. Joshua King struck me as being more of a selfish player and it appeared that him and Pedro did not get on. Dennis came across as being genuinely angry and upset when we lost which I would take every time over Sarr's indifference.
I get what you are saying about taking on the extra man, but I remember how many times he got forward, looked across, and our lethargic midfield were nowhere to be seen, leaving him with no support and little option but to play backwards shoot anyway or take on the man. As a striker his instinct was to head goalwards. That said Forest paid well over the odds.
I think Dennis worked quite hard and wanted to win, but also quite often was a bit too selfish in keeping hold of the ball rather than passing it. The two things aren't completely at odds.
I personally felt there were two Dennises. The one who was very decent over the first months of the season and the one who replaced him after we refused to let him go to represent his country.
Dennis did very well at first then started believing the hype and lost his way. Tried to be cocky with too many tricks which lost us the ball. Doesnt come across as a team player at all.
Leeds want him allegedly but not sure Dennis would want to step back into the Championship? https://twitter.com/ForestWatch_/status/1674001059541295106
Got Saudi Arabia written all over it. Forest and Dennis get loads of money which I suspect is all they both care about and I wouldn't blame them
I think that's an easy narrative, but we also brought in Hodgson at around the halfway point of the season, which blunted our attack
Bloody well hope not; despite his much-debated attitude issues, we saw in the meagre time we had him here just how single-handedly dangerous he can be at this level. I think if he did miraculously go there and they did miraculously manage to get him focused and committed to playing, he'd probably have a Toney/Mitrovic-esque season. Couple of very big 'ifs', though.
@Hogg-DEENEY!!! don’t remind me my friend! I still get nightmares about him but at least they’re getting fewer
Did we? Was awful against West Brom. Good against Sheff United. To see him scoring 30+ is wild to me.
He's never really been an out and out striker, and he's never been especially prolific, the highlight of his career is scraping double figures in the Prem with us, a motivated Dennis would be decently prolific and might hit 20, but wouldn't be anywhere close to Toney or Mitrovic levels
Well if Leeds do get him, expect him scoring a 90th minute winner at the Vic followed by a "cupping of ears" Andre' Gray style.
Unfortunately that’s not the real reason for the decline, I always refuse to have Watford players in my fantasy football team, but he was doing so well and we had a double game week so I put him in and Triple captained him, he got sent off in the first game and then was **** from then onwards - sorry
Well, yes - as you say, we saw it against Sheffield United. As I said, taking those two 'ifs' into consideration, neither of which were in play when he was down here with us. He got 10 goals and 6 assists for us in the Prem playing in one of the worst teams to stink it out in recent years; one that barely functioned collectively for most of his time in it and was visibly winding down for over half the season. Personally, I don't see how his clear natural ability alone wouldn't make it very likely he gets into high double figures, (again) were he to be at all bought-in and prepared to genuinely attempt it.
Is that your way of telling us that you have the world's first Grandmother replete with a set of handlebars
