Signed from Club Brugges. Was on loan at Koln last season. 23yr old Nigerian striker. Let the meltdown commence.
Lol. Another secretly guarded transfer. It’s brilliant how the club manage to keep these deals so quiet.
Unusual for them to announce we've agreed terms with a club before we've agreed them with the player. Wonder if they think he's going to be another Gueye? #welcometomarseilledennis
Who tf is this and where were my rumours so I could decide in advance if I wanted to root for or against this possible deal?!
Had a copy of his autobiography as a 'learning' teenager. Certainly file under explosive and prolific....
Badly. Although a few websites seem to have been linking him to big clubs for big money as late as August last year. Not sure quite what’s gone wrong in the last 6-12 months. Was also suspended by Brugges before a CL game against Dortmund for storming off the team bus because he wasn’t allowed to sit in his favourite seat. Scored twice against Real Madrid away in the CL. From the outside looking in, he looks like he was making a good name for himself in Belgium and was on the radar of some big sides - but it’s gone wrong for him there and his club have wanted him gone.
This is interesting https://www.brila.net/fc-cologne-regrets-signing-emmanuel-dennis/ Emmanuel Dennis didn’t live up to expectations at the club and his time was overshadowed by the penalty miss that caused Cologne embarrassing elimination from German cup to division two side Jahn Regensburg. “He’s not an easy guy,” Heldt said of Dennis, We knew about this problem, but we took too much risk. We misjudged that.” HorstHeldt told German Sports site Mobil express. The 51-year-old also revealed that, Dennis’ behavior isn’t good enough for the dressing room and thenthey had to drop him. “Dennis caused a stir because his behavior was not what the squad needs to be doing. We then dropped him because our priority was the group. “That was a bad transfer that is my responsibility.” he concluded. Recalled Dennis also fell his with his club on the eve of their champions league meeting with Borussia Dortmund last season. Dennis, 23, failed to score in any of his nine appearance in the Bundesliga for Cologne and his only goals came in the DFB Pokal cup.
Basically, he sounds tricky but a bit of an ********. Would have fit right in to 2019/20 Watford. But 2021/22 Watford? Not so sure
We love a misfiring Nigerian Striker, we love a forward with an uninspiring record in the Belgian league and we love a bad apple in the dressing room This guy is all three, a mouth watering prospect for the boo boys
This is...random. Those comments from the FC Koln GM are brutal. Not often that you hear someone speak that badly, that publicly. Watford must be convinced they can turn this around, because he's seemingly the opposite of everything they've talked about in terms of character and team commitment.
F*** sake. Read he’d scored a brace against Madrid in the UCL and looked it up on YouTube. He miscontrolled the pass so badly on the first one that it deceived Courtois and rolled in, then on the second he managed to trip over his own feet as he was bearing down on goal and just about managed to toe it towards goal as he stumbled. Less convinced than I was before I found out about the Bernabeu brace.
I'm usually fairly positive about new signings but this signing has a whiff of 'a punt' about it. I'd be delighted if he proves me wrong.
Crap striker from Belgium that nobody else will touch with a bargepole? Ladies and gentlemen this absolutely reeks of a Mogi Bayat special. Hopefully he turns out to be more like Lukebakio than Oulare.
Another *****, dodgy one from Mogi Bayat. This aint a signing to improve us. It is a signing to line Mogi's pockets.
It’s a classic Pozzo deal let’s be honest. Is still young and has had enough said about him in the past that I think it’s clear that the boy has talent that we probably couldn’t afford if the rest of his character was of the same standard. But equally there’s enough being said that his attitude isn’t in keeping with his talent - and thats therefore why he’s attainable. Those behind the scenes have obviously weighed it up and believe they can get his head right and realise the potential he has - maybe under Xisco’s positive regime, that’s a good gamble. But they’ve got this wrong before. It was always going to be a deal like this though. I’ll be happy if this deal means we can put more money into someone like Danjuma now.
Only played 1221 minutes in the league for Bruges last season for whatever reason, which isn't the best sign - got 5 goals = 1 goal per 244 minutes For a comparison, Ugbo scored 14 open play goals in 2738 minutes for a worse team = 1 goal per 195 minutes It seems the Pozzos have basically been working their way down the list of strikers in the Jupiler Pro League until finally getting one who'll agree to come to us. As with Ugbo, if he's a punt for a second-choice/bench option then I'm fine with this. He's not played much football recently but he's still relatively young at least and has shown a few glimpses of quality in the past. He's also very quick so should be useful for counter-attacks. If that's the last striker we're bringing in though then we're screwed. He's supposedly pretty versatile - he has played right-wing occasionally so might be asked to fill in for Sarr during the Afcon (assuming Nigeria don't call him up, which seems unlikely at the moment). Here are his two goals vs Real - the first a finish that Gray would be proud of, the second one very good, even if he did nearly mess it up. A few more goals here:
In fairness, for Bruges he has a goal contribution every 160mins approx. with playing 6,689 mins of football for them. More prolific than what we have now.
