Andrew French noted the other day that the report was put to the club and they neither confirmed nor denied it.
A shocking twist! I'm not even necessarily arguing that Dennis isn't a bit of a belllend/potential to be disruptive in a dressing room, but one pootered out little mention of several players 'openly celebrating' his departure is very different indeed from it being 'widely reported that the players threw a party to celebrate him leaving'. Laughably silly Chinese whispers in full effect. The truth and its trousers, and all that.
Don't see Sarr wanting to go Forest and be stuck there for 3/4 years. Think he'd rather hold out 12 months, knowing he'll be 25 and can sign a pre-contract with any of the biggest clubs in Europe. Can see Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen, Sociedad, Lazio etc that kinda level club happy to offer him £50-70k a week on a free.
This is nuts and not going to happen. (The bit about Dennis). Fully agree that Sarr won’t be going there though.
Also - @Goldenorn is clearly in touch with what is going on at the club and is a great source of knowledge. So it would take a lot for me to rubbish anything they say. But it’s frankly nonsense to even start to believe that people at the club physically held a party to celebrate a player leaving. Simply didn’t happen. (I’m not suggesting @Goldenorn said it did)
I didn’t say it was widely reported (I know someone else did) and shared that tidbit without comment. What is clear from French’s tweets lately is that Dennis is not a popular figure among some at the club.
I’m not sure why we are worried about trashing some mythical team spirit. The club is dysfunctional from top to bottom. Players are shifted to all corners of the globe as part of Pozzo trading empire. Obsolete players sit on fat contracts. The players regularly down tools to removed head coaches. Gutless, spineless, disinterested performances are commonplace. There is a complete lack of pride in the shirt. The idea that our best player from last season would return and ruin a carefully cultivated team spirit is utterly laughable.
The team turned up and ran a bit against Norwich so the previous disgraceful performances have been forgotten by the majority of fans.
As I said, I just have a friend who works directly with the first team squad. now I agree the idea of a party to celebrate him leaving is probably farfetched and untrue. However there is a lot to be said about how Dennis was perceived by his peers and others in the club, and it’s not a great perception.
I suspect a few aren’t popular with each other tbh . Just Dennis was good enough to get a move away so easy to sell.
I know you didn't; I'm pretty clearly talking about the original comment, that my earlier comment that you replied to was referencing. COMMENT
It is also clear that he still has good relationship with some members of the current squad. Louza, TDB, WTE and a few others( can't remember who) commented on his recent posts on instagram + he was watching our last league game as per his story(why would he watch us if he has bad relationship with them?). Sure, he might have not got along with every player/staff memeber, but it is obvious that he's still friends with some of them.
We know of course as he player he will offer a lot, however I’m sure the club will only think about signing him if Bilic and Manga are agreed that he can be managed sufficiently. will be interesting to see how it plays out
Yeah. As I say - you’re clearly a good source of knowledge and long may that continue! For my side - I have heard ED was perhaps problematic. But not to the degree reported. And also, I genuinely suspect (as per comments from who I know at the club) that disruption was widespread under Ranieri and Hodgson. I don’t think it’s unique to Dennis. Lots of players had had enough. I don’t think it’s something that should be a red line.
Come January 2024, not sure how many better players will be available for Europa League level teams to target. Teams will look at Watford and think we’re a bit of a mess and trust themselves to get a tune out of Sarr. The Liverpool level days are gone for now but he can certainly get a move to a top 50 European club. It’s a whole different equation when a player is available on a free rather than £25m.
It's always that thing about free transfers though, where they're never really free and coming from England especially we'll be talking about high signing on fees and bonuses etc to make up for it. I could be proven spectacularly wrong eventually, but I couldn't imagine Dortmund taking a second glance at Sarr at this point, nor Leipzig given their insistence on rigorous tactical discipline and high energy playing style across clubs. Maybe a Lazio type, but again it would come down to cost as much as anything there, too.
I know they looked a lot more pally doing the interview after the Sheffield United game at the start of the season, but didn't he have a particularly bad relationship with JP last season? I wonder what he's thinking of this move
Not sure but I am fairly certain I remember Joao Pedro posting a picture of Emmanuel Dennis on Instagram not so long with the caption “My guy”
I do remember JP becoming very frustrated with Dennis’ habit of taking another 10 touches rather than passing. however yes I’m pretty sure during the World Cup break JP met up with Dennis in Dubai to celebrate his birthday along with Sissoko.
Why work with grown adults that need authority and discipline though? Dennis is/was a bad egg, I hope he doesnt come back personally.
Not that I think it means he’s coming here - but he’s been completely dropped from the Forest squad and can’t even make the bench.
Just came here to say the same. Surely he has to be off. Been a disastrous move for him from a footballing perspective, although I'm sure it's lined his pockets nicely.
