You may well be right. But if you wish to live in a society you have to have them. Would you pay taxes if you had no influence over how they were spent? Or if you knew that a major part of them would be spent in a manner that would undermine the influence you have? Or the Government's ability to spend them in your interest? This whole open borders argument is about undermining society. It is designed to upset and antagonise people who wish to live in a society that is able to exert an acceptable amount of control over the environment in order to protect the people who invest in it with their time, labour and taxes. Do you have a door to your home? Do you have a lock on your door? Who do you provide with a key to that lock? It is a middle class first world (I use the term ironically) luxury, dosed with ample abounts of hypocrissy, to sit in your home and complain about borders. Whether that is you, I do not know. But it is certainly the apparent profile of many virtue signalling left wing gammons out there in the real world.
Fair enough . And I assume you are at Glastonbury next week . But trying getting in without a ticket . Just Sayin'. Like .
Too many "helluva" guys who do nothing but promote their helluva guy image . Dead kids tonight ? You betcha. But "hellava guys " say such nice things and hold such nice opinions . The EU believe in borders. Ask the governements of Greece and Italy if you think they don't. Freedom of movement within the Schengen is merely a means to an end that allows exploitation of the lowest paid (the EU's words not mine), whilst providing the middle class with a jolly distraction. They can afford a little spillage of illegals over their internal borders, especially when it facilitates the movement of illegals to a position where they can be exploited by people smugglers who will provide them with a dangerous passage to the UK. People may not like my conclusions or beliefs, but I don't think there is anything wrong with my description of the situation.
It's no where near as embarrasing as the lefties in this country who igore reality, promote the most unbelievably racist ideologies as the answer to racism, and think that saying that some women have penises is cool. But I would never be ashamed of Britain because some people have such beliefs. At least people here can still have a voice against such flotsam and jetsum from minds that seem to be struggling with mental health issues (I will say that whilst these people try to gas light us with this rubbish). In America, people are being threatened with arrest and trial simply for disagreeing with the government's political agenda - parents protesting school curricullums have been placed on terrorist watch lists, and people who have been charged only with trespass have been held for over a year without trial, whilst a guy whom the FBI confirmed had lied to them, went free because he was tried in the right court. So yeah. Proud to be British. Proud that we are not part of the brain washed globalist fever dream of communist ideologies that think that 'pretending', shouting loud enough and ignoring the evidence of your own eyes is the optimum way of dealing with reality. Very proud indeed. Some of us cherish society and what it can bring to all of us. Someone has to stand up for it, imperfect as it is, because the alternative is an ungoverned world of poverty and lawlessness. The ideologies and stated values of the left, at this moment, are a joke. They look absurd, like dogs eating their own poop in the park like its a delicate dish.
More insurrection afoot as Colbert's production team unlawfully invade the Capitol. God help them if their footage includes any disrespectful treatment of any of the Capitol's adornments. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/enter...ed-capitol-charged-unlawful-entry/7666558001/ Sorry, I forgot. They are on the left, and as such will be immune from prosecution for any behaviour that may have beeen described as insurrectionary if performed by a conservative. Heck, they probably could have fire bomed Senator Cruz' office, provided Nancy's desk didn't get singed. PS Do you guys actually find Colbert funny? I can't think of a single late night political comedian that raises even a titter, be it on the left or the right. But Colbert seems not even to try. Usually, lefties seem to mistake 1984 as a maual, but in this case, Colbert seems to have embraced the Hunger Games. I laughed. But at him rather than with him.
I would love to be having a front page of The Telegraph with a plane taking off to Rwanda. That’s my dream. That’s my obsession. Home Secretary Suella Braverman. https://twitter.com/phantompower14/status/1577356617154183183?s=46&t=dX1Z35bTtszedXXSV_n7dQ https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/suella-braverman-rwanda-dream-obsession-b2195296.html https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/en...dream-rwanda-plan_uk_633c496ee4b0e376dbfb0659
Should have mentioned that the first Twitter link above is where she says the quote. Her sheer joy at doing so is quite something.
I used to thick she was just a bit thick but now I'm certain she's deranged: https://twitter.com/RhonddaBryant/status/1577349756208267276
These people are so incredibly cruel and heartless. Absolutely no blood in their veins whatsoever. Way, way, way beyond anything even someone like Thatcher would do. And she's a child of migrants too. You just can't comprehend someone like that.
I could write a massive post about the Tories and policing since 2010. Easier though just to point out Braverman has announced league tables and targets are to return. They were a New Labour invention, they had a corrosive influence of policing and it took over a decade of hard work from some serious academics inside and outside policing to convince the government to drop them around 2015. Take murder. Braverman (on behalf of Truss) wants it cut by 20%. There's no logic behind that arbitrary number being selected and it (only half-jokingly) implies she's happy with 80% of murders continuing. Or you'll get crimes like burglary downgraded to criminal damage and theft in the crime recording stats so some middle ranking officer somewhere can massage his burglary figures for the week/month. In summary, she's yet another lightweight grasping around with no new ideas.
I was at a recording of one of these (as a +1 for a, ahem, VIP) and was at the aftershow meet & greet/drinkies. What I found interesting that a lot of cops were also there: the rank and file (both old farts and new blood) were extremely supportive of his, extremely barbed, digs against the Tories politicians but there were a also slightly smaller number of urbane attendees (who I took to be senior officers) observing the various groups and were actively trying to 'talk down' or 'clarify' his comments...
The fact it's her 'obsession' is all you need to know about how her term as Home Sec is going to pan out.
I think she should be known by her original name, Sue Ellen - after Sue Ellen Ewing in the TV series Dallas
What's with this recent trend where the Tories mindlessly repeat US political movements as if they have relevance in the UK? When has "defund the police" ever been used with respect for UK policing at any noteworthy level of support?
Yep. Target based policing is a nonsense and utterly failed, leading to perverse results such as classifying urinating in the street as a Public Order Offence so a quick fine can be dished out, or officers coming in on overtime to see if they can reclassify crimes in the way you said. This Tory government have destroyed the criminal justice system, it is completely broken. Victims waiting five years for justice with all the knock on effects of memories fading, witnesses moving away/dying. Also a terrible experience for the defendants who have cases hanging over their heads for years, unable to move on. I'm surprised Starmer doesn't make more of this given his background. In reality the Tories are the ones that are soft on crime, they've vandalised the system much as they have various other public services.
I agree in respect of the last bit. Criminal justice has huge consequences for those involved. Even with a fair wind and a speedy process, it’s very hard and exposing for victims or those subject to it, if justice or rehabilitation are our aims. This is one of a number of functions of the state that have run more or less competently for decades and are now in crisis. There is political capital for Labour. Maybe there is simply so much else.
We've now paid Rwanda £140m for this scheme. Not a single person has yet to be sent or is even close to being sent. What another fantastic use of money.
On this basis, if we somehow sent 140 people in the next week they'd effectively have cost the country 1m apiece so far. How on earth is this a better option than letting them stay in the country? You could pay them all a ridiculous 50k in benefits a year and we'd still be enormously ahead....
That would have bought you 300 Riyad Mahrezes back in 2014. He could have bent every single refugee back across the channel with his left peg.
Well if you want to play that game, it would have bought 4 Islam Slimanis. He would have nutted every single one into an NHS surgery waiting room.
A few righty types like Phil (first name long numbers here) claiming on Twitter that this was a ‘false flag’ op, with the intention of discrediting right wing folk. Which is a bit rum really because a - who needs to discredit them and b - who volunteers for a false flag op that requires you to kill yourself?
Not really - it's straight out of the "Merchants of Doubt" (or more specifically "Triumph of Doubt") playbook.
