Is it a good idea to send asylum seekers to Rwanda?

Planning for a fishing trip on the South Coast (Dorset/Kent) there's a fairly stable region of high pressure (that's growing) to the South West of the UK that normally leads to calm flat seas in the Channel (for at least 2-4 weeks) the number of crossings is going to be massive.

Also a number of anonymous posts by naval officers of the ARRSE indicates that they're exceptionally unhappy that they've been tasked to 'deal' with 'this problem'.

First flights expected on June 14th according to BBC’s Chris Mason.

You never know. If it turns out alright, people might just start heading straight for Rwanda.

That would be cheaper and probably safer for all parties!!

You should familiarise yourself with Grauniad speak before you make false claims of one thing or another.

The difference between 'court told' and 'turns out' is the same difference as between BS and reality.

But one day it may turn out as you say, or not.

I really wish these interviewers would start asking for examples or evidence to back up the rhetoric. If someone accuses you of "being oblivious to the numbers", then ok - let us see the numbers, and where you got them from.

It's baffling to me how so many people don't bother asking for evidence. It should be the first thing you do.

Good to hear Charles giving parliament notice that its time is up and monarchy rule is on the way back.

I would guess (somewhat bizarrely) that the monarch and the next two in line, have relatively progressive views compared with the regime......

And those views are not welcomed by the regime and its supporters. But is what Hartley-Blowhard says true? Elizabeth 2.0 has been remarkably mute for 70 years, our very own Quiet Girl but is that the only model?

I get slated for doing that mate. So it may be useful for you to point out the occasions when you think evidence is needed, and when it is not.

Then we can all make our own judgement.

Well, if they came legally, they came legally. Perhaps that is the difference?

You know it's all gone **** up when those in place due to hereditary rule are more progressive than the rest of the government.

Good to see it's only those after "free handouts" who are getting deported.

    Strong words here from Boris:

I'm no fan of the royal family but I think 'criminal gang' is a bit strong as a description.

Surely Johnson is now leading a "criminal gang" (in more senses than one).

We haven’t made it especially easy for Ukranians, but the World can certainly see we have a different approach based on the colour of the refugee.

A few people have also been surprised to find out that the Rwanda deal also involves Rwanda sending the UK ‘vulnerable’ refugees.

It seems like the plane may return with more passengers than it left with.

I'm embarrassed to be British today. Just when I thought it impossible to despise Johnson any more, his triumphalism about this masquerading attempt to lick the backsides of those who want him out makes me puke.

Not sure we should taint the Scots, Welsh or Irish with this policy.

Have to say I think once the brouhaha is over, people will come to see the Tories have played a blinder. They’ve provoked the ECtHR into acting to stop them very publicly, almost live on rolling tv news and just hours after British courts declined to prevent the deportations. Ticks all the boxes they needed to muster their troops to legislate to amend the Human Rights Act now and restrict Strasbourg’s jurisdiction. I think there would have been limited support for that outside the loony fringe beforehand and many of their MPs would have seen it as a sideshow in a cost of living crisis.
