Really looks as if, after starting our first friendly, Okoye isn’t being seen as first-choice keeper despite his big fee and Bachmann almost leaving. Nice to see Sieralta start again. No Samir in the squad? It will be interesting to see Manaj in his first start. I’d say probably 6-7 of that side are looking nailed on to start v Sheff U. What do you think?
Also interesting that none of the academy lads are in the squad. Where have the 3 that are supposed to be good enough gone?
In a shocking turn of events Edwards has decided that they aren't actually good enough as the club have neglected the academy for the last ten years.
I saw St Johnstone were linked with Dahlberg. Baah could do with a loan but if we're going to use 343 he might have more opportunities to play.
Sarr clearly off. More worrying for me is the absence of Samir. If we’re selling our only left footed CB all I can say is we better bloody well have his replacement lined up and signed the same day we sell Samir. Still holding judgment until the window slams shut, but beginning to feel let down by the board yet again.
Not sure what to make of the Sarr absence. "Precaution" maybe code for 'wrap him in cotton wool until this deal is finalized'. Flappman back in goal but I cannot see him lasting the 90, I think Edwards is testing the water with both keepers atm and seeing which one is the more consistent. Pedro has a chance today to work with Dennis - something we may see a lot next season if Sarr is going.
Saw a few comments under the clubs instagram photos during the week saying Samir was being sold and Edwards wasn’t happy about it at all Assumed it was nonsense and still probably is, but the unexplained absence is interesting

Another window where defensive frailties, weaknesses haven't really been addressed, I wonder whether secretly Rob Edward's is admitting to himself that he has erred in coming to Watford. Next question is how many head coaches we will get through this next season . Today how many will saints put past us. Pessimistic not really realistic totally. Things will gave to change considerably in this window for us to be a promotion contender. Good thing is there is still time to effect a fix.
Why? I don’t think we should be reading too much into him missing the game personally. I’m agree they are probably making sure he doesn’t get injured in a friendly in case a move arises - but I doubt that happens if it’s a league game. I’d say it’s a move that’s been done to future-protect ourselves - but I don’t think it means he’s certainly off.
