Did anyone catch the clip of Boris’ primary school visit on the BBC news tonight? A little girl probably around 5 or 6 years old presented him with an invite to her party. Whichever teacher put her up to that absolutely stitched him up good and proper. He just had to grin and bear it and say thank you very much.

I think referring to Carrie like that is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE and, as pointed out earlier, she has m'Lord Goldsmith a six month old to look after.

 

I think the attempts from ministers, Grant Shapps the latest, to claim Johnson was not partying are superb.

The gap between ordinary people’s perception and the Government is growing wildly. Johnson is taking the Party down with him.

 

Also potentially very serious, the allegation that Sue Gray was pressurised into dropping her report.

That's what happens when you scapegoat the "little people" while those at the top get away with it.

If I were a lowly civil servant who picked up several fines while the PM got away with just the one I would be an anonymous whistle blower too!

I want Boris out as much as the next sane person...but I do find anonymous bleating from people who also attended parties hard to stomach too.

You were there. Own it. The rules were clear and seeing Boris wandering around with a glass of fizz makes it no more acceptable. I accept them being furious at the aspect of being thrown under the bus to save their superiors. - but they also don't seem terribly contrite at their own behaviour.

 

You could argue that they have been waiting a long time for people in Government to tell the truth or for the report to be published and still the lying goes on.

Hard to get on with being contrite if you are the only one who is. You will be well and truly thrown under the bus.

 

I agree but I can understand them believing that their behaviour was endorsed by the PM, their boss, as he was fully aware of what was going on.

It's also apparent, if the eye witness account is to be believed, that the those that did speak out about it were ridiculed. It would be very difficult for a young civil servant to go against the prevailing culture, supported by the PM, if they want a long term and successful career in the civil service imo.

 

You know that time Tony Blair invited Oasis to No 10? Johnson arguably has better taste because he invited Blur.

 

However, after watching the programme I was also struck by what an unpleasant bunch they must be, taking the piss out of a security guard who told them it was wrong and none stuck up for him. Happy if Boris takes them down with him.
