As time goes on, I'm slowly realising that JP is my favourite player. My first game was his debut (Tranmere in the cup). He seems like a nice guy, gone through some hard times. Really got his rewards today.
I had a little cry. His immediate realisation of the situation was magical. Huge goal and first of many in the PL.
Getting your first Premier League goal would be a monumental event for any youngster, but getting your first goal against Manchester United, no matter how crap they were on the day, is the stuff dreams are made of for any aspiring footballer. Especially so when it effectively secured the win. Really, really happy for the lad. It's just a shame his stepfather wasn't able to see it, which is almost certainly why JP was so emotional after scoring.
I love this guy . So happy for him . Really wears his heart on his sleeve . Seems to love playing for Watford and has made a real impact coming on as sub to close out the last couple of wins we’ve had
What a player this young man is developing into! I swear is he getting better every time I see him play.
The only enjoyable thing left when watching Watford is seeing this kid dancing past players like it’s a samba festival.
Watford have never lost a league game in which Pedro has scored for them, though today was the first such game the Hornets failed to win (W10 D1).
Looked real Premier League quality today. If he hits the gym / naturally fills out a bit he's going to be fantastic.
The saddest part of relegation is going to be selling this little gem. He showed fight, he demanded the ball and he's going to be fantastic. He deserves better than our shambles of a club.
Yep, the club could put the whole squad on the transfer list and I wouldn't give two ***** who leaves apart from this guy. Maybe Cucho as well, got to love his all action style.
He was too selfish today. He frustrated King and Dennis on two different occasions when he shoot instead of giving the ball to someone else in a better position to score. I can't see us surviving if our attackers don't play as a team. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
I don't think he's going anywhere. Sarr and Dennis are the names people know about - João is a bit of a Watford secret.
He's going, let's face it, a 20 year old who shows any kind of ability in the Prem is always going to attract suitors!
Overall not a bad game, but a little selfish at times, should have put King in on goal in 1st half as he was in a position that even he could not miss from
Seeing him and Geri together will cut deep. At least Forestieri has left. That would’ve been just too much.
Yes passing to King at the end of the first half was probably better then shooting, but King's reaction was way over the top. King really showed what to do towards the end of the game when he gave up making any attempt to get onside when we were attacking. JP may make some wrong decisions, but he is one of the few players who always works hard and looks like he cares about working all game for the team.
Absolutely love the kid, so excited about his ceiling. But, do think he’s going to become a number 10 rather than a 9 as he seems to lack that instinctive finishing ability. Maybe he’ll learn it but without that it may hinder his ability to be a Champions League level striker.
Quite - they'd be driving Sarr to wherever if we got offered that much! Might be lucky to get 40 million tbh.
I don't think that would tbh JP and Dennis > £20 mill, Cucho perhaps > £20 mill And if anyone was silly enough to pay £100 mill for Sarr that would probably cover all we needed to offload
The problem if we are relegated we will be in a weak position, remember the Pozzo’s are player traders and treat players as commodities, let’s hope a fire sale isn’t necessary however when we were last relegated we only had Capoue and Doucoure and players that hadn’t actually played for us to sell for the good of the business.
You don't sell the heart out of the team if you want to get promotion I can see a scenario where the club needs to make x mill in sales to balance the budget, and any player is available at a price to achieve that end, but that doesn't make it a fire sale
Sorry but these are dreamworld prices for a club that will have just been relegated. Especially the Joao Pedro and Cucho ones. They may perhaps be worth that with great form until the end of the season. But no one would pay that for them just yet.
I thought JP was excellent yesterday and deserved a goal really. Has to start as the central striker now. Cucho and Sarr either side of him. Dennis needs to be dropped for a few games. I like King but he's been woeful in 2022.
Pedro has obviously got bags of potential, but I’m not entirely sure what position he really is? He’s not very good at making runs beyond the offside trap and he often slows the ball down in the final third. He makes some nice touches and passes, but I really think he needs someone to get hold of him and make him in to something specific. At the moment he’s kind of floating around the team not doing one thing or the other. The potential is clearly there though.
Yes helps confuse opponents with our "fluid" front line but he either needs to be scoring goals or creating goals and at the moment he looks great on the ball but isn't really doing either.
If they want to leave, they will leave. As many players did last time we were relegated. The best we can hope for is that for some strange reason, they want to stay. But I imagine Joao Pedro will feel like he’s done his stint in the Championship and won’t want to play there again. Dennis will probably have a club willing to take a £15m punt on him (we may value him at more but it will be a case of what someone is prepared to pay as he will obviously want out). Sarr will 100% go if we go down, 50%-75% sure he will go if we stay up. Cucho I agree would most likely be kept. If the above were to play out as I expect it would, I think we would be looking at about £50m-£60m total for Sarr, Dennis and Joao Pedro.
The one ray of hope for JP is his recently signed 6 year deal. He signed it knowing there's a decent chance we go down, and it also gives us a decent position when convincing him to play in the Championship. If he downs tools (doesn't seem the type), he's one player where we can simply refuse to sell and his value won't plummet. I also don't think he's shown enough for anyone to pay the sort of money we'll want for him. I think Gino sees him as our next Richarlison, and I agree. If he becomes a slightly more consistent finisher, I think he becomes a £50m+ player
