In the comments section of his latest article, Leventhal has said that Joao Pedro will miss the start of the season. I think we all guessed as much but the club was vague enough in their description to leave open the possibility he might be back by then.
Haven’t they also said is being assessed for the weekend? Granted I suspect we will not see him until next week at the earliest but that is still some quick turnaround as I thought there was a possibility he wouldn’t be back before October. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Team news this morning said he was being assessed for the weekend and could be involved. I suspect he’ll be on the bench.
Looking forward to seeing JP play again. He seems like the best choice to play through the middle and link the midfield and attack. This video should get the juices flowing if anyone has forgotten how good he was at times last season.
A floating attacking playmaking role just slightly deeper than the rest of the forward line is his best position me thinks.
Can tell just from the way he dribbles and passes the ball he's special. Has everything to make it at the very top level.
He's just such a good player to watch, everything is effortless with him. Finishing and decision making are things to work on but he's going to be fantastic. The amounts that are being talked about for Sarr will be the same for JP in a couple of years, I'm sure of it.
Theres an element of truth in it. He should score loads of goals with his ability. People say he's better than Richarlison.
The hype all our strikers get they all ought to ! Hopefully be fit and fully up to speed with the physical nature of the league as definitely is very talented
It's a fair point, but let's remember he's only 19. 15-20 professional goals (not 100% sure how many he got in Brazil) is pretty good going, considering the other creative talents in his game
Didn’t the same thing happen with Hughes last season? I don’t know if our medical team are just really awful, or the club think it’s better to manage expectations of more serious injuries by constantly saying a player will be back soon. I think most fans would just prefer the truth.
Been 3 months so probably a ligament issue? We don’t have a great record with knee injuries . Chalobah took a while to recover and was Deeney ever really fit again after his problem?
Is he ever going to kick a ball this season? In contrast, playing him vs Stoke might not be the best idea especially if he is nearing a return. A knock tomorrow means he is out for Newcastle even if he was a possible starter.
While our midfield is thin now that Etebo is out, Pedro as an attacking mid will only make us even more unbalanced, just like last weekend. With King out, and quite possibly a new manager with new ideas, maybe we'll see him play the King role, but even if not, Dennis is one booking away from a suspension so there's another route into the starting lineup
