At least we've had 75 minutes to prepare for defeat now.

We deserved to lose and we lost.

 

We deserved fark all from that. The right team won. Still a kick in the bollox though.

We played for the draw. Any neutral watching would have wanted Italy to win that. We were disgustingly negative and lacking any ideas. It was a horrible match and a disgusting performance. Good riddance to more negative Englishness from the tournament.

 

Total rebuild for 2014. This should be the last England game for a lot of them.

 

Top 8 is the limit really.

 

Been saying that for years. We come back, have a big rethink and a hullaballoo and then, 2 years later exactly the same thing happens. England are shown up as being technically inferior to the world's top 10-15 nations.

We've just not got the players and that's an end to it. Hence the reason that the top 4 sides in the English Premier League have barely a smattering of English players between them and the rest of the league is not much different.

 

I actually feel a little embarassed as to what i've just watched us do for 120 minutes. Did not deserve a place in the semis at all.

And our top players went "missing" again this tournament. Rooney has shown enough times now that he's not England's saviour. Let him advertise hair transplants and find a new talisman. One that works.

 

That was a f**king disgrace, absolutely disgusting how negative we were and of course just the same old sh*t when it comes to penalties, these c*nts are pretty much all on £100k plus a week and half of them for the last god knows how many years can't put a dead ball away from a few yeards out.

Exactly. It was reminiscent of Greece, except Greece were better at defending for the most part, broke forward better when they had the chance and their players, on average, probably earn 20% of the English average.

 

Yep. In fairness to Hodgson, he played the right team and picked the right players for this tournament. It would have been silly to blood youngsters and get beaten in all 3 games as the media would be at him. He has got the tournament over, not been overly disgraced, we got to where we hoped. Now we should look at the likes of Kyle Walker, Oxlade, Rodwell, Adam Johnson etc for the World Cup.

 

Did anyone notice Joe Hart didn't realise Italy had won?

 

It's a mental thing Nath. As soon as these trophy-winning players pull on a white shirt, they become losers. As soon as they have to put their mettle to the test, they bottle it, because in their heads, they've already lost.

You can't win anything with a losing mentality and that's what England have. It runs right through the whole culture of our national side.

Well, the best team went through there I think.

I'm not going to blame Ash Young for us going out as he missed that penalty, though I was very surprised to see that Hodgson had picked him as one of our penalty takers as he has had a v poor tournament all round. Cole's penalty wasn't good either, but then again we missed some glorious opportunities in the 1st half so at the end of the day, we were wasteful (as were Italy). Real shame we didn't grab the game by the scruff of its neck and take that chance in the first few minutes though.

I do believe that England are on the right path though. Yes, we don't have the players that are as good technically as the other big countries in this competition, but Hodgson only had a few weeks with these players before we left for Poland. Once the new season starts and St George's Park is finished, then Hodgson will really set about shaking up the squad and bringing in some newer players. We were very unlucky with injuries before the tournament began, and I do believe we have some bright talent coming through the line.

I have enjoyed watching England these last 4 games more than any other time that I can remember. Why? Because we can see the team spirit. Yes we were ****ed by the end of 90 minutes, but I could see unity there and it was great to see the players singing the national anthem for once.

 

Also, why were so many of our players tiring, even before the end of the 90? Why are our players so ****ing unfit?

 

Get used to it, we will be playing like this four the next four years under Hodgson he is known for playing negative football,
