Pressure all on Fulham to get a result and these are the sort of games we tend to fall on our arses in. Unsure what to make of it.
I think you'll find Wembley is smaller in metres but larger in yards. Yards is still the official measure of pitches in the UK and will remain so after Brexit.
Fulham are gone, they know it, they have known it for a few weeks. In brexit terms, they want to just get out now on WTO terms.
We could really do with him for our following league game at home to Arsenal though. He also tends to play well against them.
We're having a good season, but make no mistake: Fulham are a very good side and if they play well will have far too much for us. Don't be fooled by the table, I believe they will stay up comfortably. As for the game? There's no point making loads of changes with an eye on Sunday and getting tonked here, it would ruin the confidence. Let's put out a strong team and try to keep the score down. Prediction Watford 0-3 Fulham Deeney (og 88, og 90+1, og 90+4)
Me too but I can't remember when, I do remember singing who sent Brentford down to them the next time we met, and I think maybe at the Evening Standard 5 a sides. When did they finish?
I've watched the last couple of Fulham games (highlights, that is), and listened to the post-match reports, interviews and comments. The impression I'm getting is that Fulham have already consigned themselves to relegation and aren't really looking to do much about it. Nonetheless, we must take this game as seriously as any other. I don't mind squad rotation where necessary, even if players start and get subbed-off. But with the gap being Tuesday-Sunday, I think there's a fair amount of recovery time available for those who do play. It's a game-in-hand for us, so we need to take advantage.
Was nervous about this game until Parker’s conference yesterday. Basically admits they are down and that his two previous relegations will be good for the team to bounce back from the championship next season. That isn’t going to do much for the morale in the dressing room.
Hope we don't make too many changes. I still want us to grab 7th and I think Wolves will drop points tonight. Rest Deulofeu for Gray and bring Holebas and Cathcart back in for Masina and Britos. A big win would do wonders for confidence before Sunday.
I'd also consider giving Clevs a run out for Capoue. Not because he would miss the semi, but because he would miss a harder league game if booked.
Biggest match for many years tonight. Win, and we'll likely go into 7th. This is what the Premier League (Best League in the World (C)(TM)) is all about. Buzzing!!
Foster, Femenia, Kabasele, Cathcart, Holebas; Doucouré, Quina, Hughes, Pereyra; Deeney & Gray. Please
Like somebody else said I hope Joka is given a good reception. Would hate to hear about him being booed after what he did for the club. Wasnt his fault his contract ran out or that the Pozzos didnt want him around anymore. Please be respectful to one of our greats.
Just looked this up. Brentford had a single season in the 2nd tier in 1992/93 and went down by one point. We beat them 1-0 when they still had another two games to go after which, according to the 11v11.com table generator, they were only one point from safety. So we didn’t relegate them.
Didn't we relegate Aston Villa with a 3 - 0 win many years ago? From the second div to the third. Can't be arsed to look it up.
Half an hour ago I thought “we’ll make too many changes so we’ll lose” but now I think “our key players will have one eye on Sunday already so we’ll lose”
That's not true. Herrera and Rashford picked up injuries, and Martial has a knock. Disappointing misses for them, but other than that it's their best side. We've just got to hope that Lukaku picks up where he left off before the international break.
He's injured. Gracia said a couple of days ago Cleverley, Success & Penaranda have knocks. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/team-news-fulham-0
Ah, didn't see that. Shame that he can't come in for Capoue at some point, he really needs to watch his step today.

Pitch sizes- i know it's become a standing gag on here but it is true the Vic pitch is the same size as Wembley.. probably. Firstly it's difficult to get accurate information. Like stadium capacities there are a lot of different figures given out if you have a look around. This is because these change over time and old figures are not updated. We changed our pitch size in 2015 to come in line with the IFAB recommended size of 105 metres x 68 metres.. https://www.watfordfc.com/club/stadium-update-1 This recommendation goes back to 2008 but was never properly implemented. However most major new stadiums.. and those that had the capacity to change pitch size.. have the 105x68M dimensions. In 2012 the Premier league also tried to implement the standard pitch size and currently about half of the stadiums have those dimensions.. https://www.football-stadiums.co.uk/articles/are-all-football-pitches-the-same-size/ If you look towards the bottom of the article you can see some further explanation of pitch sizing.. though it's a bit of a minefield. The main problem with trying to implement a standard pitch is that it isn't possible at some older venue that have site constraints.. ie those that cant enlarge to those dimensions.
