Was almost dreading this match and drove down in torrential rain, couldn't believe it when we scored afer a couple of minutes so I took a photo of the scoreboard to remind me in the future that we were winning at one point in the game. I certainly diddn't expect to take 3 more photos of it though! What a fantastic result and a brilliant atmosphere in the Vic, I can only agree with others in giving 10/10 to every player on the pitch. One slight oddity was the number of empty seats. I had problems logging on to the ticketing site when they were first released and had to email the club several times to get my account sorted out, by the time it was done I couldn't get 2 seats together and had to buy them seperated in the Rookery end of the GT lower stand. In the end there were a load of empty seats around us and we sat together in a gap of around a dozen seats. I understand ST holders in the family stand being a bit nervous about any potential trouble but surely not the GT and SEJ stands?
These vlog plonkers are a strange bunch, very odd indeed. But seeing one from them lot has given me a good laugh this morning.
At work now, loving the morning after the night before. The two Luton fans are very quiet, looking sheepish even. I'm using every opportunity to mention the word 'four' and all its derivatives (for, fore) loudly, looking in their direction with a big grin on my face. Childish? Yes. Do I care? No.
We all want to know the answer to that one. Hopefully they will feed off the positivity from the result, and from the fans and start their season here.
"Yellow Bellied Scum?" How dare you... I can think of a lot of names for his team, but I cannot speak them publically because they all start with the letter G.
"Outside" the top six is what I said. We've lost to QPR, Blackburn, Swansea and Millwall who are top 6, Blackpool who are 18th being our only other defeat.
I can explain 4 empty seats in SEJ. I had stayed in Wokingham the night before jumped on the m4 to meet up with the m25 and the road was closed so would have had to make a massive detour so missed the game. Vexed
But you also said we had "delivered not only against the top teams", but also (etc)... Yet, we've lost to four of them, unless you are defining "top teams" in some other way than a league table?
My mate's son took some fantastic footage on his phone of the fisticuffs on Vicarage Road before the game.... smoke from flares blowing, plod using their sticks to club the geezers who were having the usual to-and-fro and through the middle of the mayhem walks an old boy wearing shorts and a Hawaiian shirt on a Zimmer frame! I wish I knew how to upload it to here to share it. It's very funny
Think I’ve seen that - which side were having a go at the police and getting a whack of the baton for their troubles? Yeah the random couple of people casually walking past it is funny
No arrests . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23073219.police-confirm-no-arrests-made-watford-v-luton/
Bring me sunshine, With the score, Bring me laughter, Concede some more, In that dump where you live, With the sign that reads condemned, So much joy you can give, With that comedy type performance, Make me happy, Giving us wins, Throw out Luton, To the bins, The Derby has been won, As the sun shines from above, You are scum, You are sh1tshine, Big Watford Love.
Really don't understand why people create these but definitely get a kick of schadenfreude when it goes our way
Watford on the left- L*t*n drinking outside that off licence on the right with a ring of riot police around them
Outstanding stuff - every one of my pre-match fears failed to come true. Players stepped up and battered them silly. Same again next week please
Group of Luton, mainly older, mostly scruffy, stood safely near the police on one side taunting. They were not expecting that group of Watford, mainly younger, mostly hooded, having a go. To your specific question the Police were whacking the Watford lot to keep them over by the cemetery wall. I am not sure the "attack" from the Watford group would have resulted in more than pavement dancing had the police not been there but Luton lot quickly very quiet (as they indeed stayed for the next two hours)
Watford toured Australia/New Zealand in the summer of 1982. Some new fans must have been made during that tour. Scans for the programme were made at the link below. https://issuu.com/friendsoffootballnz/docs/new_zealand_v_watford_may_1982
