Normally, this preview would consist mainly of pointing out what a dump Luton is, how they're managed by a charmless angry goblin and posting a few pictures of the orange wearing simpletons. However, much like our team, I can't be bothered. This bunch of misfits are not going up. There isn't the right blend of skills or characters to cope with the long Championship season. They'll play some ok football at points, there will be a few moments of showboating and skill that impress and a couple of players might come out with the season with some credit. But overall, they're too mentally weak, too easily bullied, too injury prone, too much a collection of individuals. But... there is one thing they could do to prevent themselves from being another team remembered solely for being so much less than the sum of its parts. They could take six points from the scum and at least swan off to wherever their next career stop is with a modicum of goodwill from the fans. So come on, it's been grim for a long, long time now. Turn up on Sunday, stop being brushed aside by earnest but limited Championship cloggers, fly into some tackles, show some urgency, get the crowd going and write yourselves into Watford folklore. Watford 0 2 Scum
Hopefully we're alternating winning performances with the absolutely disastrous ones. Watford 2-1 *****
After last night and the season as a whole so far - nothing would please me more than to win against these on Sunday. But, I cannot see it. I can barely count on one hand how many of our current crop of lightweights know what this game means to the fans and the town/club. To the vast majority of them it's just another game before picking up their nice pay packet once more. I am under no illusions of the importance of this game for us - the fans. This is going to be just another run-of-the-mill performance from our Jekell and Hyde team. Watford 0 Lootown 2

We're literally staring down the barrel of one of the worst days in most of our time following the club. The Pozzo legacy.
"I hear you are singing a song of the past I see no tears. I know you know it will be the last For many years."
lu*on are a dirty side and will do what they need to do to unsettle our players. Much like Millwall they will win every header. They will also be up for this and are unfortunately in form as well. No matter how I look at this I can't see anything other than a crushing home loss and much as it hurts to say it, we need it to happen.
Portents are looking like a home loss, therefore our lot will surprise us as we wave our hankies and do this lot 3-1.
They don’t have any particularly good players, but as a unit are very useful at this level, and will be really up for this. We just aren’t a team, and have some very average players. Would take a draw, but I think we will lose by a couple of goals probably 1-3.
Sounds about right. One team full of confidence, giving everything together as a team vs a collection of weak-minded lost souls, short of confidence and direction, missing key players. It's going to be messy. Just have to hope it's one of those games where the better team on the day loses.
I don't even see us a "scalp" for other sides anymore. "Who we got next?" "Watford away/home" "No problem, three points". It's also going to lash it down, and we know our cowards cannot do it on a cold and wet Sunday in Hertfordshire.
Probably the last fixture we need right now. Think a lot of season tickets are on the verge of being ditched when there's a genuine decision to make between food, heating and football.
When, not if, Watford get soundly beaten, surrendering meekly from the first minute to very basic, agricultural, direct football (nothing wrong with that style of play) the atmosphere within the Vic I fear, is going to be as vitriolic as ever witnessed and hopefully directed at one person sitting in the directors box. To avoid any confrontation Gino Pozzo should leave the ground, turn left down Vicarage Road........................and keep going.............forever. Thanks for everything but you have run your course here. Ora vaffanculo!.................as they say in Italy
Trip up on Sunday for the family and I for this one. Hoping for a result in our favour but it is more hope than expectation. Please please no wushu washy performance if you can’t do it Sunday then will have totally lost hope. Come on you orns
It’s not the travel up that bothers me it’s the leaving after the game as parking in the multi storey in the middle of town near the church. With the wife and two little ones I am hoping there is no ambushes from opposing fans. Fingers crossed eh !
Sadly, I am going. There are two pressing questions that I need to decide the answer to between now and Sunday: 1. Do I wear my scarf? 2. How early do I leave when we are being beaten by this lot?
I ain’t donning any gear for this one nor my kids. Sad state of affairs really considering it’s a game
1. If the weather is going to be foul then wearing a scarf under a jacket or waterproof is a good idea to keep your neck warm. 2. As soon as the first goal goes in for that lot which enables us to be losing. Heads will drop and we will doss around not even remotely looking to get back into the game. Besides, anyone who is going is probably going to leave way before the final whistle especially if they have children with them. Not saying those animals would pick a fight with somebody who had kids with them, but Everton fans' started a scrap near the Cementary a few years ago so you never know with football fans'. Just give yourself time to get out safely.
If we lost by 3/4/5 at home to them for the first significant game in 16 years against them for them to go 6/7 points clear of us… how many worse days would there be?
How? Depending on Saturday's result, they can go into the top two with a victory while leaving us staring over our shoulders and realising we're possibly in a relegation battle. Our squad are nothing but shirkers, bottlers and mercenaries who won't have the feintest idea what it means to the supporters and will turn up expecting to win given all the pre-season hype. There's a good chance Luton will come down, beat us handily, embarrass us on our own turf and leave us in an even bigger state than we are now (if that's even possible) - for me, that would be one of my worst memories of around 25 years of supporting Watford. Edit: they were also in non league ten years ago (if I'm correct), and are now arguably much better placed than us to challenge for promotion.
Cut out snacks and week-day lunch and put an extra sweater on - you won't need to miss a single minute of the footy
