So pi$$ed off. We won't play many poorer sides this season and we should never have dropped points.
Hope the injuries aren't too serious.

His mistakes were really bad ones. To be fair, he kept us in it with fantastic saves off a corner and from that curling effort towards the top left of the goal. Needs to keep his head, especially with the penalty he gave away. Really poor.

At least his kit looks nice.

Why "rather"? We need and should be looking for both, as I expect we are. No reason for it to be a case of one or the other.

Odd game to watch. We were excellent for the most of it until injuries started to disjoint everything.

Fantastic to see Silva watch us go 2-2 and immediately get Andre Gray warming up. After Mazzarri and QSF it briefly confused me because I'm so used to seeing extra defensive players coming on.

Amrabat remains a low-IQ footballer who should be resigned to bench duties as soon as possible.

    Doucoure is solid gold.

You know what, overall I'm happy with that. Our style of play looks much better (even if we did switch back to hoof at times in the game), we have faster players, a faster and stronger midfield that doesn't give up. From what I saw of Gray and Richarlison, I'm pleased (not counting chickens yet though). The negatives are still our slow defence and the injuries. Hopefully Pereyra ain't out for long and Janmaat comes back soon. I like Femenia but he's still got a lot to learn. Maybe we need a fast (or at least faster than our current) CB to bolster our defence

  10. Yep. He's started off where he left off last season. I wanted to see him get a chance, and he is being given it. He doesn't take players on anymore, and though he is looking to go forward, he looks out of his league, which is a great shame; not a completely negative display, but any more like that and I can't see him starting for much longer.

Although Amrabat gave the ball away many times, he was not alone. Strangely enough, Ducoure seemed to give it away cheeply on three or four occasions.

Been at a wedding so could only keep an eye on the score, is Peyrera really injured?

  13. Whoever said we have no creativity at Watford with Pereyra injured was totally right. Been hearing that Gomes is past it at the start of the season for the last three years.

Amrabat is getting far to much stick, he was no worse or better than most of the team, get off his back. Having said that I think we need someone better to play in his position, but I think he is still good enough to be used off the bench!

Overall I think we deserved the point, and I am not convinced about the penalty decision against Gomes, I thought he got the ball before the man, so not a penalty in my book!

But Man Utd fans think that unless a winger is like Ryan Giggs he is cr@p. There opinion is worthless.

Amrabat was Ok thin the first half but lost it in the second, as did other players. This was also because Liverpool played better. I'm not saying that he was great but not deserving abuse today

Looked like he was feeling his right groin.
Saying that, I feel my groin quite often and it's nothing to do with being injured.

What a fantastic match, and a reminder for us all why we love this sport so much. So much good, so much bad. We could have won, we could have lost, but at least we've ended our six match losing streak. Shamblic defending, some lovely movement going forward. More wretched bad luck with injuries, a very strong bench at least from which to replace them. Goals from a forward, a midfielder and a defender. (Remember we only scored 3 times in our last 6 matches last season and drew blanks 3 times pre-season too, so this was such a positive improvement). I think most of us are agreed on our weak links and I'm sure things will be sorted by September. I really enjoyed seeing Doucoure and Chalobah in their partnership, and thought Okaka did what he does very well too. Bemused by lack of Prodl and Hughes, but the Head Coach sees them in training while we don't. It's only day one but I'm sure everybody will take out of today what they wish, but personally I loved it. A thrilling match and a point against a Champions League side. The start of hopefully an exciting and refreshing new era

Doucoure is a joy to watch and I've decided to get a full body tattoo of him, top to tail, in his honour.
It should work on a shorter, fatter 50 year old white bloke so I'm off to Terrys Tatts down behind the dodgy looking abortion clinic off the ring road in Hinckley.

I've been a stern defender of Amrabat. He was shocking today, constantly looking for fouls, slowing down play and giving away possession. Get rid.

I have seen the replay, and I am not insane either, Gomes got the ball!

By the way, WTF is going on with Jannmat and Pereya? Their careers must more or less be finished as they are breaking down with injuries time and again, and far too easily.

I really hope I am wrong, but I fear I might not be :(

Pleased with the draw especially as I thought it would be tight defeat when I saw line up - pretty much last seasons team and shows what could have been. Great to get last minute equaliser. Really hope injuries aren't that serious

Overall an enjoyable game and a good point, with probably an equal amount of positives and negatives.

On the positive side of things we looked more determined and harder working as a side, we moved the ball more quickly and played far more positive football than under Mazzarri, and of course we scored three goals. I think bar a couple of small periods Doucoure was again outstanding and him and Chalobah have the potential to be an absolutely brilliant partnership, with the latter looking far stronger and more aggressive than in his first time here. I also thought Femenia looked pretty good when he came on.

As for the negatives, and I think it goes without saying at this point, I'll start with Amrabat. Woeful. Absolutely woeful in every way. There is no defence for this mans performances any longer. Doesn't and can't beat his man, no pace, no vision, constant shirt pulling, horrible touch, can't pass, takes too long on the ball, and can't cross for toffee. Shouldn't be anywhere near a Premier League starting line up.

The defence is also a major worry. For me neither of Kaboul or Britos are good enough to be starting and why or how they got the nod over Prodl I have no idea. In an ideal world I'd love to see Prodl alongside a centre back with a bit of pace and at least half decent passing ability, which currently not a single one of our centre back has. Another worry is Holebas who, whilst good in fits and starts, is such a mixed bag defensively and we desperately need competition for him too.

Lastly would be Cleverley who simply doesn't have the game to play the position he was in today. I think he'd be fine in the deeper role, but he doesn't have the creativity or the ability to be effective in behind the striker.

Fingers crossed Pereyra is OK. On a technical level he is a clear class above anyone else at the club and he brings a real sense of composure to our game. Need to get him fit and in that number 10 role.

We're already showing more promise and fight than we did under Mazzari, and we did really well to come back from that 3-2 deficit and nick a point in injury time. There was belief in the squad today and we took advantage of a Liverpool side that was far less ruthless than they needed to be. Some really unfortunate goalkeeping errors afforded them the opportunity to go ahead but a really tough showing to overcome that.

Our defence was okay but benefited from a lot of Liverpool errors and missteps in attack. Janmaat went off almost immediately (is he made of glass?) and Femenía was a quick and able replacement going forward but was somewhat less helpful at the back. Kaboul and Britos were capable and Kaboul did well to fight through an injury for the last few minutes as our substitutes had all been used up. Holebas actually might have been our best defender today as he made several crucial tackles and did very well going forward.

Doucouré is fantastic. He ran rings around Liverpool's midfield and managed a well-deserved goal assisted by Cleverley. He's strong, skillful, quick, and good with a pass. Chalobah did really nicely as well although he did give the ball away a bit too cheaply a couple times. Cleverley was okay in the attacking midfield role and managed to contribute but I don't think he's the best man for that job.

I really hope Pereyra is okay. We need him. He was doing well on that left wing until he had to be taken off. Richarlison looked a decent replacement and is eager to impress. Quick, fiery, and committed. Amrabat, on the other hand, was awful. He must have accounted for half our fouls and time after time let our attacks fizzle out by failing to pick a pass or giving away a free kick. The one time he tried to cross it went straight into the hands of Mingolet. Okaka was lively and worked hard, bullying defenders with his strength and doing ever so well to put us in front. He was clearly limited though and was wisely taken off for Gray, who is certainly quick but didn't have much of a chance to change the game.

Enough has been said about Gomes already. Their first goal was beautifully done but their second two need not have happened. I would have liked to see Hughes on the bench at least instead of in the stands with Deeney, I wonder what that was about.

If you offered me a point before the game I would've taken it and I'll take it now. I predicted 1-1 but 3-3 is just as good. Come on you hoooorns!

  29. Think Janmaat is a good player when fit, but he is a complete crock, and I suspect the club, given that he was asked to run the injury off whilst dolefully shaking his head as if his rotting willy had just come off in his hand, are not sure about his psychological strength in dealing with injuries.

If he doesn't want to play, he should retire and become a postman; and if he is genuinely getting injured so regularly, then he should also retire and become a postman.

It used to be a problem for Gibbsy when he was coming back from serious injury, and in the end GT told him (very publicly) to play through the pain (and consider it part of the recovery process) or call it a day on his playing career. He played through and got in some useful extra years.

There was no touch - watched it in Spain and saw many replays. Thought at first he got ball but was no where near. Easy penalty decision

That was mental, good signs but also will have confirmed to Marco where his new signings need to come from in the remaining weeks

We'll be after a new No1 now I'd imagine, Gomes cost us 2 goals

Likewise, new CB is needed, Kaboul was dreadful and looks injury prone anyway

Amrabat MUST be replaced, he is totally ineffective, offers nothing and I found my myself willing our players to not pass to him at times so moves didn't break down

Other than that, injuries was a real shame but most of the team played well, Docoure has thankfully picked up where he left off and again looked superb
