This has to give us tremendous confidence, but it's no coincidence a good performance follows Sarr's reintroduction. Now Geri is probably out for the rest of the season, it's imperative Sarr stays injury free. If he picks up another long injury then that could be very difficult for us. He makes all the difference, with Geri complimenting on the other side. Bobby and Pussetto can hopefully make up the shortfall with Geri's absence but we cannot afford to lose another vital player. Sarr works in those pockets and runs the line very well. He has a great first touch and a fantastic ability to pop up in the right place. Maybe work on those volleys a bit more, but apart from that he's the real deal and I've not even mentioned his pace yet. I would say, if we keep Sarr injury free for the next 8 games, we stay up. But Geri is still a huge loss for us and I wish him a speedy recovery, but initial prognosis does not look too good.
Big shout-out to John Barnes for saying, "we're" when referring to Liverpool at halftime on the telly box. He he, "we're" were second best I'm afraid.
Supporting a 'lowly' team can be hard work but the highs, when they come must be so much more joyous than supporting a 'big' team. The cup final pain has been obliterated today - we were wonderful and the whole world knows we were.
What a result. Sarr and Kiko were sorely missed, both were fantastic. Hopefully GDs injury isnt too bad, looked pretty nasty on the replays.
Watching back on MOTD Gerry’s injury is clearly horrendous, that’s him done for the season. Thankfully the gap in quality between him and Bobby is much, much smaller than between Sarr and any other player in our squad. It’s a blow bit not a terminal blow. If Bobby actually tries for the remaining games it might not actually be the end of the world.
It was "we're" when referring to Liverpool before the match and at half time, but then he switched his allegiance to "we're" when Troy Deeney joined and they were talking about Watford. He likes a winner does our John.
I actually think Bobby is our best player bar Sarr, but he's very very lazy. If he's at his best he's world-class.
This is what I mean, Sarr is irreplaceable. Bobby is a decent replacement for Gerry IF he puts the effort in. If Nige can motivate him then we’ll be fine.
There's no doubt Pereyra has the skill and ability to perform well I this league. The difference between him and Deolufeu is Del always looks to go forward or pass forward at every opportunity, whereas Pereyra frustratingly always seems to halt his movement or pass back. It's ok possession football but time after time we have counter attacks that stagnate and die at the feet of pereyra. He reminds me a lot of Ozil in that respect.
I know they've won the league. I'm over it. But you've just stopped them breaking the consecutive wins record and stopped them becoming "invincibles". I'll take that. Almost glossed over the fact Watford were very good and thoroughly deserved to win by a wide margin. I'm delighted. A couple of weeks ago I thought it was starting to look like a lost cause - this has to be the platform to kick on from.
Sarr really is the real deal. Rare you find such pace coupled with very good technique and composure. If it’s not on, he has no issue with turning and playing it simple. 2 goals and an assist v Liverpool!
I agree fully, there is no doubt losing Gerry is a blow and Bobby certainly has his faults. If we can somehow get him giving at least 8/10 performances for the last 10 games then he can still chip in with the odd goal or assist though.
He played his normal game. He often outruns most of the team but due to his running style it is assumed he doesn’t.
At such a young age as well. So much potential and so much sell on value. Just waiting for Everton to steal him from us @toffeeblue9
Ha If I'm totally honest, before today I'd thought he looked pretty raw when I'd seen him and not really ready for this level. Shows you how much I know
Crikey! Hugely impressive. I saw it but I still can't quite believe it. Who saw the sap in a LFC scarf outside the shop singing "we're still champions"? He caused a fair few comments,a lot concerning Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart I think! I hope Troy got to the after match snacks before Digger!
Been away weekend watched MOTD to catch up not expecting a lot. To say it was unexpected is an understatement.
We have beaten Man Utd and Liverpool this season and secured two draws against Spurs and we are in a relegation dog fight. Strange season. Great to watch today, whatever happens for the rest of the season. That said, I have my optimistic hat back on this evening.
When you have watched us for 30 years plus, when you have seen the depths of despair dragged up, you have seen luton ripping up the corner flags, you have stormed the directors box after Jack petchey, then today is for you. We have had such highs and lows but today makes it all worth it.
Nope, he really is. Rich is good but Sarr is definitely better. Just took him a little longer to find his feet (although we were a bit of a shitshow at the start of the season so that didn't help). Sarr will 100% have the better career as far as I'm concerned. He's rather special.
Quite probably should have beaten Liverpool at their place too...not that "should have" is worth any points.
We have now played 5 of the "big 6" at home. The record is: P5 W2 D2 L1 F7 A4 How can we have spent almost the entire season in the RZ?
Nope, I’m completely serious. Sarr is x2 Richarlison. Maybe even x3. And I say that as someone who always rated Richarlison and initially judged Sarr to be utter crap. I was wrong and will live out my days (probably less than 100 due to coronavirus) knowing I was/am a complete imbecile.
