With Deeney’s injury and the news Doucouré and Pereyra are “doubtful”, I would love to see

Foster; Janmaat, Dawson, Cathcart, Holebas; Hughes, Capoue; Sarr, Quina, Deulofeu; Welbeck

However I doubt Sarr or Welbeck will be considered ready to start, so perhaps Gray up top and Success out wide. Also Cleverley for Hughes and Masina for Holebas are debatable in that team.

But who am I kidding, we all know it will be a narrow 4-4-2 with hoofball tactics to whichever poor sod is expected to make a coherent attack out of aimless punts. And Kiko will keep his plaice.

Well the kids have started well so might get on the bench !

As much as we all joked about Sema, given the injuries and the fact Sarr and Welbeck still aren’t ready, it looks a weird decision to loan him out today rather than wait until the weekend is over.

Sounds like we have a squad full of sick notes. I’d probably go with Gray and Delefeou up front. If Wellbeck is fit he could replace Pereyra on the left.

I thought that, last Saturday, Pereyra was our most ineffective player. So perhaps he was carrying an injury. Whether he was or not, probably not a bad thing should he not play. Doucoure started rather poorly but seemed to improve after half time. Perhaps the coach had a word.

Sounds like a more mobile attack to me. Might be quite interesting. But Welbeck is likely to be match-rusty and might disappoint.

Shoe-horning players into positions again. Welbeck is a striker and that’s where we should play him rather than putting him elsewhere just because Gracia refuses to change his formation.

How long does it take for a side to adapt to a new formation? Genuinely interested.

Many of Wellbecks best games have been on the left. He is good enough to play in more than one position

Not 100% sure. But starting it pre-season would have been a good place to start...

Not in a introverted winger role that at times drifts into CM like we play. He hasn’t played there. We would need to change formation to play Welbeck in a role on the left that he’s comfortable in.

Thank God I'm not going on Saturday. We are in for a thrashing. Could be embarrassing....again. When will Doucs be fit ?

All fallen apart m8. Deeney, Doucoure and Pereyra on strike. Sarr wants to leave already and the 1881 are doing a silent protest when we shoot towards the Rookery first half.

So if we have no Pereyra, Doucoure and Deeney. Plus Javi hinting at not starting Welbeck and Sarr, I guess a change of system could be used. Am I correct in thinking last season we used the 4-2-2-2 the most but we did also play 3-5-2 or was it 3-4-3? And occasionally a more traditional 4-4-2 (usually late on in games).

Maybe go 3-5-2 and play the following

Foster, Cathcart Dawson Kabasele, Janmaat Holebas, Capoue Hughes Cleverley, Deulofeu Gray.

Hughes the one further forward, Capoue holding. Could easily swap Janmaat/ kiko and / or Cleverley/ Quina.

Leaves those 2 on bench plus Gomes, Mariappa, Masina, Welbeck & Sarr.
