We won't be desirable to take over as the idiot Pozzo has saddled us with loads of external debt combined with about 3 players who have an resale value. He is an incompetent baffoon.

Still, at least the boys did us proud. Southampton's away form is top 6 level, so this was never going to be a game we could expect much from. To nick a goal and to show a lot of spirit, going toe to toe with this formidable Saints side at times, was something to be proud of.

Deeney worked his socks off and caused all kinds of problems. Aside from the goals, I thought Catchcart and Dawson looked solid.

Kiko and Femenia both gave us width as well as being useful defenders, considering the money we paid for them at least (a club with our finances is never gonna have Maldini and Cafu at full back).

Sarr just makes your heart race whenever he gets on the ball and Pereyra has so much dialogue. Hughes had a great blocked shot and Doucour and Capoue both dominated the midfield.

Overall lots to be positive about. Plenty more games to come. We will be fine.

Apart from Pearson's new manager bounce (13 points from 5 games) when he changed the formation and Sarr caught fire, we've got 15 points from 27 games this season. We had a 5 game run and apart from that we've been utter shyte. Last season it was just the first few games when we had a new system that we got so many points that it looked like we had a good season overall. But apart from the first few games our points per game was mediocre. We are better on paper than we are in games. We look as good as down.

Gray needs to be sacked. The other two fined very heavily.

Yeah - Deeney may have done zero but he occupied the defenders and won a couple of fouls. Solid day work for some.

It was but then he had Welbeck attacking the front post.

Sarr has Deeney and Pereyra to aim it at.

Play Sarr Welbeck and Pedro next game and I bet his crosses look better instantly

If we're going to play like that, why the **** aren't we at the very least reverting to one of the most successful tactical periods of the last few years: 4-4-2 with Deeney and Gray upfront?

Don't get me wrong, as ever, I think Gray is awful and an asshole to boot, but this is just not working in any way whatsoever. Deeney is even more immobile than ever, but he has a strike relationship with Gray.

Our coaches and hierarchy seem to have forgotten something that we have all already known; Deeney is not capable of playing the lone No.9 role; he never has been. This season we've just ignored that and forced him there, and in turn his input has to been to do the square root of **** all. We have to at least try and luck into the few goals needed to survive, and we can talk about chucking kids who've never played outside third tier leagues (if that) before, but in reality the pressure of this situation is unprecedented.

Our strikers are terrible individually, but we're not even leaving them out to accomodate our more talented midfielders as it stands, because GD is out and the others are dreadful. Use the wingers we have as wingers, and have two strikers who can play off each other. Times are more than desperate, and at least we might score a ******* goal that way.

That was terrible . It is looking likely we will get relegated as we simply haven’t got going since the restart . I was really hoping for a reaction today but it took 45 minutes to muster anything at all .

Southampton were winning everything . This really is depressing to watch . We could still beat Norwich as they are dreadful and maybe hope we can get one more win but it’s looking dire .

Most of our players were bad today, but Pearson seems impassive on the touchline, no signs of motivational ability at all. Where is the passion we have seen from him when at Leicester

And Deeney shows no leadership whatsoever.

I watched him at the drinks break mid 2nd half, and he just stood around on his own. Why isn't he getting round all the players, in their faces, geeing them up? 2 minutes later Ings scores again, and we are finished.

It wouldn't be so bad if he actually did something on the pitch, but yet again, he was a total waste of space. It is like playing with no captain, and 10 men. If only he put as much passion into his football as he does in his media work and BLM. He even effectively went on flipping strike when the training started.

The collective poor performances start at the top, and when your two leaders are so lacking in inspirational, a team suffers.

However, I still think we are good enough to stay up, we just need a break and NP to find his balls and make some decisions - start with Pedro, replace Deeney with Welbeck and make him Captain next week.

We are slightly better off than when the football restarted, and all the teams around us are doing just as badly and their fans are feeling just as bad as us right now, but I do think our players are better when they play more like they can. We will stay up!

Sarr hasn’t put a cross near a Watford player since the restart. His final cross today finished 8 rows back in the Rookery.

That sad thing is it would’ve been incredibly easy to stay up, especially with our games. We could’ve probably even drawn every game since the restart and that would’ve been enough, but we can’t even do that.

I wouldn’t choose to go down, but I think it would teach the owners a few valuable lessons. Obviously they’ve not got bottomless pits of money so they have to be a bit creative with how they operate, but their existing model was always going to end in tears.

It can’t be chance that every single one of our managers does well for a period, then we descend into a sustained period of worse than relegation form. If you consistently cut corners when it comes to recruitment in defence and attack then eventually the talent levels of those players become the overriding factor in how you perform on the pitch.

Funnily enough I said similar thing about Gray in the shoutbox ie his lack of proper mins means we dont see enough of opponent's penalty area. But because of the party not sure he or the other players will be allowed back for the next home game. Plus Pearson not seeing that striker plan so unlikely to happen.

Don’t get me wrong, he needs to look up - but many players hit the ball into good / dangerous areas and rely on their team mates to make the relevant runs - it’s a percentage thing. When you only have two players in the box and neither want to move anywhere you’ve got a bloody hard task on your hands.

Genuinely sickened by this team. I hate the lot of them. For years I watched not very good players try their hardest for the shirt, and they are all but a distant memory thanks to the shower of sh*te that we have representing us now. The team is in the mould of our supposed "leader on the pitch" - all mouth, no b*llocks and unfit as hell. Sexy football is long dead and i'm going to have to wear a neck brace if I bother to watch the next game.

    I HATE THEM ALL

1 win in 11 and apart from the game we won have we actually played a top team ?!

    That is the worry.

He has hunger as well. Something Deeney shows when he is in the cafeteria. We need pace and mobility upfront. Just having Sarr is not enough. We badly miss Deulofeu for some of his faults. Having two targets as a minimum in the box would also help Sarr. Plus we can see someone like Pedro chasing down the ball with Welbeck. There was precious little effective pressing. We instead were pressed into our own half. Our physical conditioning has been shown to be well below par. And it's not as if we are seeing an incremental improvement from game to game. We are getting worse.

Leicester are a top team this season and were third when we played them, but regardless, we shouldn't expect anything from matches against our betters anyway, it's not prudent.

Shambles. Consistently have the oldest starting XI this season and it shows - time to give the kids a chance and start the rebuilding process.

West Ham away on 15th will be make or break. Assuming we're still in it by then!

I've seen some rancid football supporting Watford over the years - but that one tops the lot. We were dog turd at Citee but we actually attacked that game. This was pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Credit Southampton, they came and did a professional job. Not one player out there today gave a damn, this showed before the first goal went in, playing hoofball to Deeney who was immobile as ever today. He is one of my Hero's, but it is pretty clear he is running out of ways to galvanize such a load of spinless individuals. Pearson is losing it as well, and I hate saying that. He pushed us the brink of oblivion to having a show at safety. People invented the meme "Watfordy" - and that was about as Watfordy as you can get.

Sarr again was at least trying in small patches, had a shot blocked in the box - that was as close as we came. Their first goal, omg.... I actually paused the TV to count this. SEVEN players around Ings. He just passes them like they are a load of statues and slots home. I was expecting a reaction, and we got absolutely nothing from the players or Pearson for the rest of the half. Surely second half can't be any worse can it? Oh yes it can. One of the worst, lathargic, passionless and effortless performances I have ever seen. It was Burnley x 2. Nobody gave a rats arse. Hoof ball all half. Southampton's second goal was a Foster error and a big one at that. Dawson didn't exactly cover himself on glory either to be fair. We get one back via an OG.. and let's be honest that was the only way we were going to score.

Then they get a free kick.... you know the rest. As almost a carbon copy of his goal at St Mary's... Ward-Prowse demonstrates how to take a free kick. 1-3.. game over. Well, it was game over after the first goal went in according to the players. I am sick of such a lazy, half-arsed attitude to each game. Do the players' not care anymore? Here is my personal message to them all after that.

    WAKE UP
    SORT IT OUT
    GET IT TOGETHER

    and

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WEAR THE SHIRT OR SHOW EFFORT --- LEAVE

I'm really angry with that. Southampton didn't even have to get out of second gear. We spent the entire gam in reverse. How we are not in the relegation zone is beyond me. Other teams around us know how sh!te we are, so they will take full advantage of this. Next season will be interesting - to see how many want to try to get is back up. I cannot see us staying up after that. We had a chance, two actually. Blew them both.

Having read the majority of the posts on here I can't really say much else that hasn't been said already.

I actually HATE every single player in this squad. A spineless, cowardly bunch of c**ts that have had a right touch with this whole pandemic and games being played behind closed doors. They can just stroll around the pitch for 90 minutes with no pressure on them. Easy money for them.

'Captain fantastic' is one of the worst culprits! He's completely undone all of the great work in the first 5-6 years of his career over the last 3-4 seasons with his big mouth and no action attitude.

Nigel Pearson is another one who literally looks like he couldn't give a toss. So much for the man motivator we all heard about, i've seen more enthusiasm on death row than in our squad!

I'm guessing Deeney has some uncompromising photo's of Gino, no idea how bad he has to be to be dropped or sold?

I'd love to lambast Pereyra as well but I literally don't have the energy. If they don't give a f**k, why should I?

Pearson needs to go tonight if we want to stay up, it's clear he isn't the answer, our 'football' (if you can call it that) is just aimless hoofball with no Plan B whatsoever. That's HIS fault. He's been at the club long enough now to be able to get us playing at a higher tempo passing the ball to feet in the final third.

As soon as the last ball has been kicked at Arsenal away, we need to sell 2/3 of the squad. It's as simple as that.

    Down and out.

Shame they didn't restart League 1, would have preferred Oxford or even Wycombe (local and their first season in the 2nd tier) to bloody Rotherham yet again. That's their fourth promotion from that level this millennium!

The other problem we got is at the back. Dawson can't cope with anyone that can run and Cathcart/Kabasele have been rusty since the restart.
