What a ridiculous comment. If you look at my posts on this game I’ve given praise but simply expressed concern that the performances weren’t worthy of our current points haul. You may disagree with that, which is fine.

Not sure why you post the way you. Always trying to antagonise with the odd nonsensical hyperbole thrown in.

Being a ref must be one of the most soul destroying jobs in the world

both teams almost always think you are biased towards the opposition
You get criticised for missing minute details that happen 50 yards from you
If you have a good game nobody starts a thread about how good you are , but if you **** up you are panned

Why would anybody be a ref ? Does it pay well ?

I thought he was ok , red card was reasonable , He knew what he was doing when he started pulling on the shirt , and to be fair was probably a reasonably good thing to do , he ****ed up and had to take out the opposition.

    My thoughts
Thought Kayembe was the best I have seen him play
Bayo unfair to judge too critically but could be a useful sub, not sure about the fee
Leaving Asprilla on when the sending off happened showed great confidence from R.E. To leave him on
Gosling, Cleverly not great but could be good enough in the division we are in!
Though Gaspar looked like Cassetti been there done it, come for a decent payday because the wife wants to live in Kensington!
If Sarr goes would hope Kalu would be good enough to cause some problems on the RHS

oh and nearly forgot we only won two games at home last season here we are 12th August and we have equalled that already

Yes, Sarr is the key to this. If he stays, Rob will have to adapt to playing a 433 to get the best out of him. If he goes, I'm sure we can find a flying RWB worth £2m in Belgium and sign him for £5m with millions in inexplicable fees involved.

If Sarr leaves, Rob can play his 532 but I wouldnt be surprised if Rob sees Sarr staying as an opportunity to try to be sucessful with a new formation. He's on a learning curve and doesnt strike me as someone who wants to be known as a one trick pony.

There's no point in buying players for a 532 formation if Sarr is going to stay.

Yes, but it didn't take a genius to work out that Kamara can't play right back, Ken isn't a good defender and Clevs and Kayembe need another body in to help them in central midfield. And when we signed a right back and another midfielder the solution was obvious.

I have no idea why I would, either. I didn’t.

With almost three weeks of the window left, we don’t know if he will get the players he needs, and, if he doesn’t, whether that has been a deliberate and conscious decision or simply circumstance. Either way it is not a situation I would defend - why would I?

The point I was making was how good it was to see that, if he needs to be, he can be adaptable and make changes to address weaknesses, whether of his making or not. That’s not something we can say of all our recent managers/coaches.

Not a comment, but a question. To which the answer seems to be “no”.

TBH, I was reading the list of comments individually, without identifying who posted each one, so I was replying to your comment in isolation without the context of your previous praise. I’ll go back and read those now to see the full Jumbolina view, and get back to you.

And yet many times we despair of managers not doing what seems so obvious to us. Isn’t it nice we now have one that does so, occasionally?

Agree with all this except the bit about the fees, not because I disagree but because I don’t think it’s relevant to this specific discussion.

Re-read looking at the posters this time. You clearly saw multiple positives in the game, and I apologise for taking your post out of context. As you say, let’s keep fingers crossed for dominant performances in the next two games.

The next 2 games are very interesting. As you say while we have only played 3 games (unconvincingly in my opinion) those opponents are 3 of the strongest we will face. If we now go away to 2 lesser opponents in short order and put back to back strong performances then we are really cooking.

Didn't really see what Kayembe did to deserve the Sky MOTM, but then that thing's often a pretty random pick anyway in tight games and if he gets a confidence boost from it all the better. I'll also credit him with stepping up once we went down to 10 men - he was an absolute monster during those 15 minutes.

I thought the rest of the game though he was pretty ineffective and far too many left to right moves broke down through him as he's essentially incapable of using his right foot to pass the ball. It caused us to lose what little attacking momentum we had on several occasions. Suspect Championship is about his level though, which is fine for now I guess. And I can see him dominating the lesser lights of the division.

Last night was the first game I've gone to since I walked out v Leeds last season and effectively binned my season ticket. Not the greatest game or sexy football, but I loved it. Felt like the "magic" (whatever that unquantifiable thing is) was back for me.

A good honest team performance, fans and team together and a connection between staff, players and fans. That's all I want.

Good to catch up with the regulars around us too. Really missed it all, but don't regret giving up last season as it was just joyless and everything I hate about football.

I’ve amended it for the coming weeks

    VOULEZ-VOUS
Sarr is sold and gone, aha!
    Pedro on his own, aha!
Watford’s gonna narrowly miss out on the play offs much to our general disappointment.

Felt he was decent as well. Tried to let the game flow, no silly yellow cards early in the game, benefit of the doubt to the players etc.

Well yes, I agree, attack is a pretty good form of defence, quite often. Of course there is always the possibility of genuine injury, which pro footballers can be pretty good at hiding, and then the coach's hand being forced.
And perhaps Sarr's presence on the field can have a dampening effect on the oppo's attacking intent: Everybody knows he can change he game in a moment. (Although we know he often doesn't).

Yes. Some of Bachmann's saves have been grade A this season. You can always argue about man of the match, but there is a good case for saying he was in 2 of the 3 games.

Not entirely disagreeing; but this was Burnley we were playing. I know they have a new coach, but the likes of Barnes have been cheating, play-acting and generally sh1thousing for seasons. Maybe he'd sussed that. They were trying to target Kamara, I thought.
