Flores says he wants less possession. This sounds like he wants to play on the break. With Deeney nearing a return, perhaps we could play on the mini break: set off from our own penalty area; travel a short distance; buy a guidebook; book into some cheap accommodation and have afternoon tea. That way we could arrive in the oppositions penalty area a whole weekend after their entire team, but far less stressed.
There would of course be optimism if we won those two. There would be optimism if we win tomorrow. It’s not about being optimistic, it’s more the realisation that if we do not string three or four wins together in quick succession, then we’ll be playing under pressure for the entire season. Just think even if we win the next three, we’ll only have 11 points from 10 games. We’ll still be in the pack and would have to win a couple more on top of that just to pull away in order to play without the enormous pressures. I think to stay up with his season will be Watford’s greatest achievement in 36 years.
I've had a fair few chats with Blades fans in recent days, as you'd expect. Those travelling down for the game are brimming with confidence and expecting to come away with at least a point. The stay-at-homes are thinking how we often think: the Watford revival is bound to start against Us. FWIW and as others may have said, whoever scores first wins it, I reckon.
QSF spoke about improving out of possession and the space we leave for the opposition. This is our biggest weakness. Hopefully he knows how to fix it.
Christ, don't post one of when we last scored a direct free kick... Isn't that Abdi vs Villa at home...?
Don't get me wrong, it's definitely not fun being rubbish but I'm more excited / nervous for a league game than I have been in ages!
I spent my $2 free bet on Deulofeu to score 3 or more at 50/1. Printing money that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In the unlikely event we score and even more unlikely event we are winning, can we not sing the ‘how **** must you be’ song? It can’t be great for our own team’s morale.
Saw this post on a Sheff Utd forum: They desperately need a win and will have to go for it, but as said above that should suit us. Plus their support will get very frustrated, very quickly if we get on top. I also think our boys will be chomping at the bit after Saturday's ultimately disappointing result. They do have the individual quality, but in terms of team cohesion and work rate , there really is no comparison. Their defence is shocking too. Going for an optimistic 1-3. McBurnie, Stevens and Sharp to bag. I think it's almost dead on in terms of a rival fan view.
Easiest 3 points we'll ever get in the PL. So easy that'll be a bit of an anti-climax. Watford 4-0 Sheffield United Europa here we come.
Anyone who thinks we will not be playing under pressure for the whole season is an optimist. If we match the points average of our best season 1.3 points per game up to the half way stage we will have 18 points from 19 games - probably bottom 3 territory still. Even if we continue that to the end of the season it will give us just 40 points which hardly gives breathing space and would not mean we were free of pressure. This season is going to be tough for us to survive.
6 months ago we were Europa League hopefulls. Now we're shitting ourselves at the prospect of Sheffield United at home
If you can keep your head while all around you are losing theirs, and if we beat the Blades and Muff, you’ll become a man my son ...
There are some very stupid shops and websites that if you go into or on them and give them money they will hand you back 3 times what you give them when watford lose again today. How on earth we are favourites when we haven’t won a game, can’t defend, can’t score, are bottom of the league and our coaching strategy is for a beautiful man to quietly shout “organise” at the players as they run round aimlessly in training, thinking it’s all a right good laugh and not giving a fig?
Are people actually going to this with any expectation of winning? Are you really that thick. Have you missed the last 6 months?
The best thing about this season has been the beef curry being served in the GT washed down with a pint of Tea Kettle.
Why am I thinking gallows humour and ‘it won’t matter if we lose, it’s just a game’, why am I nervous but not nervous at the same time, why am I going through these emotions? Nurse ?
We will do well in this game to start with but as soon as they score, heads will drop. Our only chance is if we score first and even then I doubt we will win. Hope I’m wrong, but I think the most we will score is 1 goal, and I think they will find enough holes in our defence to score more.
As I'm going to this I will really miss the banter of Shout Box today. Keep it clean boys/gals.... don't want to hear about any Kiko or Dawson bashing....
Hopefully Sheffield will be over confident and we can pick them off. We might have the better players but they are playing as a team at the moment, let's hope today they fall apart. Tough game and I really want to be confident but our defence kills hall such thoughts stone dead.
