The Pozzos are clever and i'm sure will take care in trying to make sure both teams do well. The best thing for Watford, in my eyes, is that the squad stays as it is. We lose some deadwood, and continue to gel. Udinese fans need to be appeased and losing key players to us would not be useful! But by the way, you can't have FF, Vydra, Pudil or Abdi back
Sampdoria-Udinese 0-2 A very good win away against a good mid-table team coming from 7 points in 3 matches. Basta and Pinzi coming back from injuries, and they are really important for our midfield, the difference was seen. A little bit of uncertainty at the beginning, then Guidolin switched from 3-5-1-1 to 4-4-1-1 and it was much better. Udinese very clinical in exploiting chances and lead 0-2 at half time, showing great composure and tranquillity in possession. Goals by Danilo (defender) and the usual Di Natale. Di Natale now 1 goal from Boninsegna in serie A all-times scorers, and two miracles from Samp's GK avoided him to reach Bonimba tonight. Really an excellent performance today, with robust defence (oh, Angella again in starting 11 and again quite good), excellent midfield, clinical attacks. Now 8th in table, still many points away from Europa League qualification positions but a much more confortable staying! And this is, I hope, a good forecast for our chanches in Italy Cup (equivalent of FA Cup).
Even we take more away than that! http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/socce...noa-team-match-230323815--sow.html#more-17127 To be fair it was a 600 mile round trip (London-Newcastle give or take) but you'd think there would at least be some locally based Udinese followers to bolster the numbers?
Well, that was fun to watch! Also I add the 600 miles aren't so well connected (Appennini mountains in the middle) and it was a monday evening, so either you have a job and thus no time, or have no job and no money. Also, the "away fans" sectors in Italian stadiums are only for those who registered and own the "fans card" of the visiting team (anti-hooligans law in order to know who is around), so if there were other Udinese's supporters living in Genova they might have been "hiding" in other sectors away from Sampdoria Ultras and without flags.
Still, just 1 fan is quite surprising to us. I understand the laws Italian football have implemented make life very difficult but even we would have taken more than 1. On the other hand if you Lecce away I would understand!
I think a stab at the Europa League spot is well within the reach of Udinese.
A bit more on the apparent lone Udinese fan at Sampdoria... http://www.football-italia.net/28324/lone-udinese-fan-speaks-out Any Udinese fans able to confirm if this is true or not?
If that was over here, you know he would be surrounded by 3 stewards and made to sit down! I remember the old Wimbledon bringing 52 fans (I was sad enough to count them!) if I remember during the Koppell era of announcing the move to MK, but 1, that's preety poor from our 'parents'!
Even made news in Australia http://www.foxsports.com.au/footbal...n-over-sampdoria/story-e6frf423-1226535317640
Talking about me? Don't worry i check this site to read new replies on interesting topics almost every day.... i just write rarely, only when i think it is needed XD
I think I remember someone asked where Udinese shirts or flags could be bought online. For those interested, only from yesterday the site www.udinese.it underwent a restyling and it includes now an e-store at http://www.udineseshop.com/ It's only in Italian now, but with some help from google translator should be quite accessible anyway. Edit: it seems delivery outside Italy will be available only about at January 15th.
Watford are also going to be selling some Granada and Udinese merchandise in the Club Shop, from next year - including shirts.
Interview with the guy here, speaks english also so could join the forum. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20700529
Come on pal, keep up!! http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?44609-One-or-two-thoughts&highlight= I emailed Scott Duxbury with a few ideas and he emailed me back his thoughts, which you can read on the link above.
Thanks for re-linking that Cheeky. I actually missed his reply first time round. Impressive stuff. Also your name fascinates me. What country is "My Name" from? My sounds slightly Asian, and Name? Well I suppose is somewhere from Europe?
Good idea. Would be nice if you and your friends posted a bit more in this section so we can follow the goings on within the club and gauge the feelings of the Udinese fans.
All the trinity playing this saturday. Udinese-Palermo late afternoon. Palermo low in table, but a tricky team, potential banana slip. But Udinese comes from two convincing wins after the humiliating defeat against Lazio. A third win can strenghten the position just in mid-high table, hoping the forerunners lose some points. It's possible that we at last can see Muriel (at least from bench) after the long injury. Granada-Real Sociedad evening. Granada seemed to show good playing in last match against Malaga, before being overwhelmed. Three points are absolutely necessary, against a mid-table team, in order to try to leave relegation zone. Burnley-Watford early afternoon. You know everything already. One point could be good, but three would be better in order to confirm 6th place in the lead of the pack of hunters behind the 5 top teams, hoping some of those 5 lose points. Good luck to all the three teams and let's hope in 9 points overall!
Not looking good so far at Stadio Friuli infront of a very sparse crowd. Best effort for Udinese a surging run from Dusan Basta (dressed up as the Phantom of the Opera). Badu has been rightfully replaced by Muriel who has already done more in his five minutes than Badu did in the first 40 minutes. Illicic has been superb for Palermo. If he doesn't get signed by another club in the summer I will eat my hat. (Please sign for us.)His goal against fellow countryman Brkic was a bit fortunate. Cut in and hit a low shot that bounced infront of the keeper who misjudged it and let it bounce off his shoulder into the middle of the net. However our brethren have been fortunate to escape a penalty award when after a great takedown by Illicic and stepover he was brought down by Danilo. There was contact but Illicic's exaggerated dive may have counted against him. Precious little pattern in the game as expected between two attacking sides going back and forth but Udinese have been pressured into losing the ball at the back by a pressing Palermo. Muriel might just be the creative spark along with Pereyra they need to spark this match. Come on Udinese.
Well done Pads if you did. A pretty nondescript second half full of mistakes, poor technique and harum scarum football. Brkic atoned for his earlier error by pulling off a fine double save in the last ten exciting minutes of the half as Palermo looked to counter on the break while his opposite number Ujkani will no doubt and try to blame Ezequiel Munoz for dropping a clanger that gifted di Natale his tenth goal of the season. A Maicosuel cross was met by Muriel on the volley, the ball was parried back to the Colombian who crossed. The ball was collected by Ujkani but on his return to earth he came into contact with the afore mentioned Munoz and spilling the ball was helpless as di Natale pounced. Two pretty poor teams serving up a bit of a dogs dinner. Illicic was excellent though and I'd like to see him here in January (fat chance). What are the odds of a 1-1 draw between our Spanish brethren and Sociedad ? However Granada need three points at this stage of the season coming up the Christmas break.
Lol got distracted with the red card and kept checking the odds for the draw got to about 5/1 in 82nd min or so thought I'd wait and try for last few mins and next I knew the game was over as I was multi tasking. Up da Udi.
A new sports channel, based on Al Jazeera's soccer rights, will be showing Udinese tonight. Late. I will get to record and watch it tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
A hard point gained. Well done to the players for trying until the end, even in 10. No blaming to the referee for the excessive expulsion of our player; there was a penalty for Palermo in FH, so the two things maybe compensate. Brkic could have done better on their goal but atoned with a lot of great saves. Ilicic seemed unstoppable and our midifield and defence seemed not as good as in last two matches. When Muriel find full match fitness (he began very well, then went lost somehow, although he participated well in our goal's action) he'll be very very good, it seems. Now on for the Tim Cup match 19/12. Tim Cup is equivalent to FA Cup but quite less considered in Italy. We enter it at 8th-finals and playing at home (thanks to our position last year) against a Fiorentina looking quite strong this year: 5th in table, in this moment they're thrashing Siena 3-0 at HT. For us Tim cup could be the emergency route to a ticket for Europa League next year. Only three matches between us and the final; we should really fight as hard as we can in each of this matches to reach it. Of course the winner has qualification to EL, but most of the times the winner is a big team already qualified to Europe thanks to its position in table, so the other finalist is qualified.
