[NOT HAPPENING] Troy Deeney

I don’t doubt you as a a person. But this sounds like a lie you have been fed and I wouldn’t swallow it if I were you. Given there will be no offer from WBA until they sell Evans and the takers for him are disappearing by the hour. And Southampton are signing Guido Carrillo from Monaco for £20m so doubt they are an option open to Troy.

That’s not to say Deeney won’t leave - I actually get the feeling that he may see this as a natural time to move on. But will anyone pay the money to get him in this window? I doubt it. My money would be on him staying now and leaving in the summer. Although it is curious that he’s suddenly been ill this week just before the window closes....

Edit: If he did say this, he needs a wake-up call. We are obviously paying him mega-bucks as he told a whole Esso garage he was leaving in the summer and now he’s upgraded to a 5* hotel to divulge this new info. God knows where he’ll be when he actually does say it....but I bet there’ll be a buffet.

The above is true my mate text me earlier from the Grove about 2pm with the following - he was with his agent and wants out - was discussing offers - the preferred is WBA - he sent me these quotes

"that ******* gaffa ignored me all morning"

"After everything I have done for that club they have turned their back on me when I stopped scoring"

"**** em I want out and I want to move quickly"

Deeney definitely wants out 100% and he is pushing to get it done asap

 

So you believe that deeney has been ill all week? And hasn’t been able to speak to the new boss, seems weird as he’s been so major within the club decisions up to this point.

 

I think it's more likely than not that Deeney will leave the club in this window. Conditions seem ideal - his influence on matches is on the wane here, it's January so his price is at peak and his past reputation is still strong enough to attract PL teams. If he wants to huff about it then that's a shame but Watford has done more than enough for him and owe him nothing.

Not sure why he'd be doing his business in public at The Grove but nothing surprises me.

I just read these ‘Deeney was overheard saying....’ things every transfer window. So it’s fair to treat them with scepticism.

I didn’t say I don’t think he will leave - in fact, I alluded to the fact that he may well go. But I find it much easier to disbelieve these ‘my mate heard’ stories when it comes to multi-million pound contracts and deals.

I agree it's odd to talk about it so openly but this 100% what happened. My friend is not an ITK sort of fella, and is text to me started with guess what I'm sitting in the Grove next table to Deeney ..... then the rest came out.

Apparently Pardew was asked at his press conference today about the chances of a swap deal involving Deeney and Rondon. He said no chance. Seems like a strange one to even raise.

 

RMT79 and Goldenorn do you both have the same mate or was it different mates sitting either side of Deeney's table?

That's fine and it's not for me to say this is not all true. It just seems a bit odd that two independent posters have two different mates that overheard Deeney's conversation, then both mates sent out texts at the same time to relay the story, then two posters have independently come on this forum at the same time and confirmed the story. It's an awful lot of coincidences.

My friend not being really much of a football fan in general, rather just finished a round of golf with a few customers from work. Messaged me saying that he had seen deeney with another man and had over heard conversations to the exact same tune as RMT79.
I would say the source is 100% reliable as he is a good mate and would have no reason to lie because he really doesn’t actually give a sh*t

It’s all probably true as my Uncle Barnabas is a waiter at the Grove and he often sees Deeney at the all you can eat buffet slagging off the club. I’ve never known Uncle Barnabas to lie, or even exist for that matter.

 

I think these two mates are having an affair. It's the only possible explanation
