Shame for Maria,I like her style.
Well done to Osaka for her gesture.
Tsitsi to play Raonic in semi. Raonic in a tough 3 sets v Krajinovic. Opelka retires v Tsitsi.
Djokovic v Roberto Batista Augut. RBA defeating Medvedev.

    Just so.
Not sure Edmund will win his first match. Murray may face Felix Agur Aliassime in second I think.

Djokovic v Raonic in W&S final. Raonic wins a tie break first set that Tsitsi had held an early mini break in. Has one break point in the whole match and wins second 6-3. Tsitsi doesn't convert his one bp. Fine margins.
Konta loses to Azarenka who plays Osaka, who was persuaded to play.

  5. I Blame Pozzo

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

Osaka withdraws from the final with a hamstring injury.
Murray and Skupski beat Salisbury and Ram.
Not the result Scott Lloyd would want as he favours Salisbury for the Olympics, quite reasonable given Salisbury won a major title at Melbourne Park.

    Djokovic beats Raonic in three.

Great win for Cam Norrie coming back from 2 sets down to beat a top 10 player.

Always a good time to play a seed, especially if they haven't played for six months.
Norrie is a taller version of DS, albeit a ten year old is a taller version of Diego, amazing he has reached top 10 with his lack of height.
Testament to hard work and good wheels.

Edmund defeats Bublik in four to play Djokovic next.
Tsitsi wins for the loss of four games v Ramos V.
Zverev beats Anderson and Coco Gauff loses to the very able Sevastova.
Konta v Watson and Murray v Thingy today.

Another classic 5 setter for Murray!

    Murray edges it.
Will probably play the very able and very young Augur Aliassime in the second round, presuming he can walk!

Ah - a tough one but Murray isn't one to give in easily.

    Dan Evans going well too.

Murray,as ever, displays an admirable competitive desire.
Probably his greatest attribute,he hates to lose.
Still capable of making the second week of big tournaments.

Terrible news regarding Carla Suarez Navarro who has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer.
I lovely player to watch, played with real panache.
Best wishes to her for a full recovery.

Clearly spending too much 'thiem' with Dominic!
    Djokovic in four v Edmund.
Pliskova out to the very talented Caroline Garcia of France.
Tsitsi in straight in late match on Ashe.
Murray plays Felix tonight and a note to all the so called reporters who appear to know no players apart from top four:
    Felix; Fee licks.
    Augur; A gure
    Aliassime; Ally a seem.
Not difficult, just get an ATP handbook or watch a flipping match!
    Buffoons.

Speaking of choking, Norrie defeated Frederico Coria, brother of Guillermo who somehow contrived to choke the Roland Harris final to Gaston Gaudio and retired six months or so later.
    Ruined him.

Konta loses 4 in the third to Cirstea.
Raonic having problems with Pospisil who's had a bad time with injuries.

    Yes - disappointment for Konta.

Russians seems to be doing well in the Men's.

Khachanov and Medvedev are very prosaic but hit a fearsome ball.
    Murray second best against Aliassime.
I heard a bookmaker on TS tempting people to back Murray to win the event at 40/1.
I do hope no one was foolish enough to follow this drivel.
Awareness of standards in tennis in this country remains pitiful and I expect my dimwitted colleague hasn't even heard of Aliassime, just as he hadn't heard of Tsitsi when he reached the AO semis.
Dame Edith a set all with the completely dotty bonks Moutet.

When Murray and the big 3 quit plus Serena in the ladies our British media will be totally lost tennis wise.

They will be clueless on the next generation and complain it's not the same without the fab 3 (plus Murray)

I can see the headlines now

"Who is this guy winning Wimbledon" when a Zverev or ST wins it.

    British interest ended.

Norrie and Evans beaten maybe surprisingly

  29. I Blame Pozzo

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

    Not really.
Moutet is very capable and very difficult to play I'd imagine as he's so unpredictable. Edith had chances but failed to convert.
Spanish guy is on a bit of a roll and Norrie is solid but doesn't have that big a game or a killer shot to compensate.
What it all amounts to is that the standard is so high that you only have to be 5% down on your level and you're out.
    Tough sport tennis!

    Oh Tsitsi!
    Six match points wasted.
Such a talent but he's beginning to remind me of Hoddle's comment about Andy Cole.
    Djokovic looking imperious.

    Serena defeats Sloane Stephens.
Aussie workhorse Di Minaur beats Khachanov in five, Pospisil wins again. Thiem,FAA win comfortably.

Put the money on Novak. Still so many injuries. The human frame is not designed for absorbing such impact on a regular basis. del Potro looks finished.

Yes you'd be foolish to bet against Djokovic.
Yes poor Del Boy has had a catalogue of injuries over the last five or six years.
    Pity, likeable man.

    Ironically Henman commentating.
About the only way he wasn't going to win the event.
Not having a good couple of months all told.
