    Wide open tournament now though.

A first time Grand Slam winner to boot.

Tennis is so dull. Even more dull than F1 so perhaps the dullest sport ever aside from the 10k walk and dressage..

Nothing ever happens in tennis that makes you excited, there's not the rush generated by a late winner in Football, not the build up and attrition of 5 days of test cricket, not the individual struggles of a golfer, and it just gets duller the more you hit it back to each other. Badminton is more crowd pleasing.

You can tell its boring because the interesting bits are when its gone wrong, like a car crash in F1, or djokovic hitting a linesman or Serena Williams losing her ****. The people who like taking fruit into football matches probably like tennis.

I won't reply to Hornpete as I have to be out in two hours!
Interesting tonight as FAA plays Thiem, who should be favourite now Djokovic has gone.
I'm hoping Berrettini can win. If he gets his serve and forehand firing he could surprise a few.
Meanwhile battle of the GB Olympic doubles selection takes another twist.
Joe Salisbury ( with Ram) already in the semis.
Murray and Skupski play their quarter tonight against Murray's old partner Soares ( with Pavic).
Serena v Sakkari in ladies. Up the Greeks!

Don't back any team/player I recommend. :D Colorado and Vancouver fell in the playoffs. Middlesbrough to win on Friday. :p

That Serbian fire. A bit harsh as it was not intentional but reckless.

I'd forgotten about Pironkova, really awkward to play I'd imagine, good news and with everyone else having so little play a great leveller.
Serena beats Maria S in three.
Medvedev,Thiem both comfortable winners,Rublev beats my final remaining favourite player Berrettini. Di Minaur also through.
Scott Lloyd will be relieved today as Murray and Skupski lose in doubles.
    Barty withdraws from Roland Garros.
Apparently the lady hit by Djokovic's ball is receiving hate mail. Some people are imbeciles, but we know that already.

Elegant willowy player but without steel. She showed flashes before in her career. Nice to see her Tsvetana back. Of course until Dimtrov the Maleeva sisters were the big story in Bulgarian tennis a nation really taken backward by years of suffocating corrupt communism.

Yes,Mr IBB went to Sofia for the ITF,I have the coasters to prove it! He would endorse the corruption you speak of, although not as bad as Lithuania or Ukraine,I can't recall, where he was offered very attractive young ladies after supper. He said he just asked for a cappuccino! I told him he was a fool,no one should have a cappuccino after 11am!
Thiem strong favourite now,Di Minaur,Pablo C B and Zverev other four.
Serena has a great chance for another momentous major title, but we've said that before!

Serena v Osaka re-match in the final?

Might be interesting albeit with no crowd this time.

Good to see Azarenka in the semis. Two mums for a final spot. Osaka favourite to beat Brady.
Thiem easily defeats Do Minaur and Medvedev in the battle of bore against Rublev.

I can't see Serena winning at RG but never bet against her.
I'm pleased for Azarenka although her screeching is hard to take.
    Osaka starts favourite you'd think.

    Zverev blew that one.

Mind you Thiem did his best to at the end .

It has been a tournament of choking, spectacular choking and reverse choking to borrow from the great Gordon Forbes in his seminal tennis book 'A Handful of Summers'.
Probably due to lack of match play from all.
In any case choking is part of tennis, everyone does it,you just hope you do it less than your opponent!

Tough draws for Murray and Evans in the French Open whilst Konta gets Coco Guaff.

Evans could beat Kei as he's hardly played since his latest injury and I'm not sure Stan has had that many matches. Evans will need to improve on yesterday's performance however although Nishikori is far more predictable than Tsitsi and his serve is no comparison.

Horrible draw for Konta, just the sort to send her into a tailspin.

    Broady qualifies,Dart loses.
